there 7.1. I have the wireless astro 40s and there 7.1 as well.The review tells it all.I have yet to see a pair of headsets that match up to the astros.They are phenominal.

they like every headset are STEREO (except ax pros), but with simulated 7.1 which is provided by dolby headset via the mixamp!

i have a headset that outperfoms the over rated astros http://www.amazon.com/Sennh... try them with a mixamp, then put the atros on.... you will hear the difference

Cool, I didn't know Sennheiser made a gaming headset. I've used their in ear monitors, mics and pro audio headsets for years in playing music. I trust Sennheiser in music and would definitely give them a try in gaming. I just ordered the Sony Pulse headset though, and it works on PS3 and PC, so as long as I like it (which I'm pretty sure I will), I'll just stick with it.

Astro's are expensive but they are worth it. Enhances gaming to a higher level.

They are simulated not real 7.1 surround sound headsets.

There is only one headset on the market the razor tiamat. This a is a real 7.1 surround sound headset.

Simulated surround sounds sucks compared to real 5.1/7.1 headsets.

Im sorry but they are real 7.1 your only kidding yourself.I agree the razers are good but only on the PC.The astros are an overall better product on consoles and PC not just PC.pablo-b those headsets are not that great sorry to tell you.maybe in your opinion but product wise not even as good as the trittons.

Don't know why you're getting so many disagrees and the guy below you is getting so many agrees when you are right.
The Astro A50s are virtual 7.1 surround sound, not real.
@Above Explain to me just how you seem to think that they can do real 7.1 surround sound with only two 40mm drivers? They are virtual.

Even astro themselves say that they are virtual. http://answers.astrogaming....

I am looking for gaming headset on a budget. I was planning to get the Sony Pulse Wireless Headset, but I am wondering if other options available. 7.1 surround sound would like. My budget is no more than $150. Should I get the Sony, or go for something else?

I love my wireless Astros. I am upgrading to these 2nd gen wireless Astros. The wireless receiver I have now has gotten severely old.
