God of War’s Top 5 Epic Moments: Number One — The Death of Ares

Posted by Aaron Kaufman // Community Strategist, Santa Monica Studio -

From the gargantuan, larger than life battles with Zeus, Cronos, and Poseidon, to the brutally intimate no-holds-barred fight with Hercules in God of War III, to fighting alongside his brother, Deimos, in Ghost of Sparta, there have been plenty of epic moments in Kratos’ journey.

This game has so many epic moments that its hard to even pick 5.

-There is the battle with hades which was a great boss battle
-Ripping Helios his head off
-The leviathan
-The collosus of Rhodes

So many more i cant name off the top of my head just a amazing franchise. Giving the god of war project more money probably 1 of sony's best idea's.

I gotta go with the fight with posiden in the beginning of GOW3 , that really made me feel like i was fighting him....soon as i start up the game im in the middle of this huge battle just amazing

Can't wait for GOW. Have a feeling the new one will be epic moment after epic moment now that they warmed up with GOW3. A great studios second game on a console is always their best.

men.... i personally cant think of a game with more epic moments!!!

Never considered GOW to be epic... probably because of the tank and no skill gameplay and the QTE boss kills. Seriously, tell me im wrong. How many hits can Kratos take in the hardest difficulty? If it's 1-2, then you win.

It doesnt hold a candle to the epic boss fights of Shinobi, DMC1&3, and NGS.

Tate-ing the last boss in Shinobi is completely rage inducing but if you land it... it feels really good.

I'm not sure what gow game you played that had tank controls, but apparently I missed it. The gow's I played (all of them) controlled beautifully. No skill gameplay, sounds like a personal issue with your ability to play the game.

Oh, and then you turn around and bash it for being too hard, on the hardest difficulty. Wow.

And before I go, the QTE sections were superbly laid out so you could watch the whole thing as your enemies got torn apart. You probably didn't notice because the no skill, too hard gameplay and tank controls were bugging you. /s

Never said tank control. I wrote "tank and no skill gameplay". How many hit could Kratos take? A LOT therefore a tank.

I never bashed a game for difficulty. Where did you get that? I love skill based games. I finished IWTBTB and it's one of the hardest games i've played.

Oh well, looks like you cant see past your own bias so it's pointless to argue. I want GOW to be more skill based rather than to be catered to the casual crowd if possible.

FYI. Read what i actually wrote.

I'm pretty sure if you look up Epic in the dictionary theres a picture of Mark Rein, The Godfather saga, and Kratos.

Might be in a minority here but I didn't enjoy any of the sections playing as Atreus or having companions at all. If I had my way it'd be Kratos on his lonesome from start to finish. Straightforward action gameplay without the endless boring chatter.
