Most Underrated Games Of 2012 So Far

Despite the heavy hitters of 2012, a line-up which so far has included Mass Effect, Diablo 3, and Max Payne 3, there were an assortment of games that flew under the radar. They didn't get that mainstream exposure, but were just as good, if not better than the aforementioned titles. So, what are these underrated games? Well, let's find out!

Good list of games, I'm surprised Sleeping Dogs hasn't sold more, it seems solid with a dedicated PC version too.

It is a good list, I played everything except Spec Ops, and enjoyed each game. We can probably add the new Sherlock Holmes game to the list. A $40 budget title, and the reviews have been excellent. I really want to pick up a copy when I get some extra cash. Open world murder mystery game has me very interested.

you know how gamers cry about having too many sequels well get use to it. Because when sleeping dogs sell 116k units on launch that shows the publisher they should not take risk and just release sequels to make money

when a new IP is introduced y'all are the same sheep who go out and buy your favorite sequels than y'all are the same sheep who complain about having so many sequels

the reviews are great and all but with sequelitist dominating the market, new IPs have less space to breath thus they are not underrated but underappreciated!

While I agree somewhat with The Darkness 2, I personally thought the first game was better and was more interesting than the sequel. The first game had some lovely touches that set it apart from the rest, I don't think the second game did that.

I've only played three out of the five listed (on PC), but I agree; The Darkness 2, Sleeping Dogs, and The Walking Dead (so far), are all great games. Out of those three, my expectations for Sleeping Dogs was the lowest and I would say it was my favorite!

Some of the best games this gen are games that don't have any hype, popularity, sales, high marks, etc...

Azura's Wrath, Neverdead, Splatterhouse, Earth Defense Force, Lollipop Chainsaw, etc...

Sleeping Dogs is the sweet and salty butter!

Neverdead was the 2nd worst game I have played this gen. Otherwise great list

Darkness II - haven't played so can't give an opinion.
Silent Hill Downpour - some people HATE the SH brand because it isn't made by Japanese. That is not a good reason not to try it out. Technical issues is. I would still recommend trying it out.
The Walking Dead - I'm hearing amazing things about it. I'm grumpy that it's not available in my country.
Sleeping Dogs - I want to play this game, seriously, I do.
Spec ops II - Not a fan of military shooters but heard good things about it.

Binary Domain is another one I want to try out.

Sleeping Dogs knocked one out of the park! Loved that game!
I also have been interested in Silent Hill Downpour, but because of the mixed reviews, I'm waiting for a price drop before I pick it up. I'm sure GAmestop will have it used for $30 by the end of the holidays..

Only other game I played on that list was Spec Ops, which actually let me down a bit., I was beginning to be intrigued by the story but other than that, I found it to be a glorified shooting gallery narrated by Nathan Drake. I only played about 3 hours into the game, and havent been able to pick it back up since mid-summer.. but the forecast calls for a chilly and rainy weekend here in Beantown, so maybe this will be a good opportunity to revisit that game..

Sleeping Dogs is my game of the year so far because the story was SO GOOD and this is the reason I play games. I'm tired of the old «you are the one and need to save the world» or just any stupid reason to shoot people in the face.

Solid List. Darkness 2 was 'meh' for me (enjoyed the first more).
Was suprised by Spec Ops: Unreal 3 held it back

I don't think Sleeping Dogs is underrated, I've seen people keep saying it's even better than GTA IV.

How is Sleeping Dogs underrated? The reviews have been very high for the game. High marks and praise all around.
Now if you want to say OVERLOOKED, that'd make more sense to me.
