Dragon Ball Z for Kinect Review | Vandal Online

Vandal Online: "A very poor game, only recommendable for kids who love the series and would love to throw some punches and kicks while playing as the characters they watch on TV. A video game that would not live up to the expectations set by Kinect or Dragon Ball Z."

"only recommendable for kids who love the series and would love to throw some punches and kicks while playing as the characters they watch on TV."

well, I'm sure that's exactly who it was aimed for. That's the only problem I have with reviews with IPs like this - they know who it's for, so why review it if you don't like it or review it for something it's not, which is gonna be this great kinect game to finally dust the dust off kinects worldwide.

...unless of course it just sucks. Dunno, havent tried it. If it plays anything like Marvel Avengers though, I can't see it being THAT bad

Snookies124218d ago

I don't think it's aimed toward kids. Most people that grew up watching DBZ back in the day are adults now. There are a TON of fans out there. This had the potential to be something really awesome, but of course ended up pretty crappy as most Move/Kinect/Wii motion controlled games are. There ARE some fantastic ones out there especially in the Wii's case. However most motion control is poorly implemented unfortunately.

zebramocha4218d ago

Most move games have good controls but there is no standard to calibration, visit iwaggle3d on you tube to see what I'm talking aboot.

@Snookies

There is a new generation of Dragon Ball fans thanks to Nicktoons.

AWBrawler4218d ago

I was about to whip ou my list, but you corrected it and said wii has some good motion games. carry on kind sir.

Snookies124218d ago

@AWBrawler - Lol! Yes, the Wii does indeed have some fantastic motion games. It's just that they were too far and few between. I hope we'll get to see a more consistent stream of wonderful games for the Wii U. :)

RyuX194218d ago

Both Nicktoons and last time I checked 4kids show Dragon Ball Z Kai on their channels. So there are kids in this day and age who like Dragon Ball Z. I got 10 year old cousins who like Dragon Ball Z cause of those channels.

Shadonic4218d ago

It plays like the studios previous dbz game ultimate tenkaichi with kinect gestures that match the characters in game gestures basically IDK why people can't see this I guess it's just because of my game design studies but even then it's pretty obvious I guess that once something gets enough biased hate people throw out basic knowledge in favor of fallowing the crowed.

Getowned4218d ago

Dragon Ball kai even worth watching in I saw the original 100 times ?

I wish they made a good dbz game for once -_- .. a open world sand box dbz world own! lol

If this was reviewed from the pov of kids it should be reviewed by a child.

Something like "Little Timmy's review of DBZ for Kinect". If this game even is geared towards kids. Would think that a game where you punch and kick others shouldn't be for little children. I mean what is the age limit for the anime?

Dang Kinects having a rough year.

insomnium24218d ago

But since Kinect gets teh zales it doesn't really matter to x360-folks on this site.

Shadonic4218d ago

It matters to me as a gamer and someone striving for game design if you look at a another kinect game that incorporates the same gestures that are in this game I'm speaking about power up heroes another title more geared to children but gave a good fun experience while the reviews were more possitive check it out basically that game uses the same gestures as dbz with most of its characters yet the game works but spikes first attempt at a kinect title and it sucks this is just a sign of experience and innovation between power up heroes (ubisoft) and spike (dbz) I just hope people realize this because not all kinect titles and the device isn't always what you should blame. I mean we don't blame our consoles when games like skyrim mess up.

Dragon Ball Z for Kinect Review | GameDynamo

GameDynamo - "Similar to Ubisoft's PowerUp Heroes, all actions in Dragon Ball Z for Kinect are gesture-based and displayed on the right side of the screen. Players are able to punch at the air to start a martial art combo, shoot Ki-blasts, guard or dodge attacks through this system, depending on if the battle is in the air or on the ground. "

Game Guys review - Dragon Ball Z for Kinect

In the 1990's on through the early 2000's, 'Dragon Ball Z' was easily one of the more popular anime titles on television. It's so-bad-its-good dialogue and voice acting was trumped only by its over-the-top fantasy martial arts and powerful super moves. Now, in the year 2012, fans have their chance of not only controlling the show's characters in a fighting game, but more-or-less being those characters in the Xbox 360 title DragonBall Z for Kinect.

Snookies124142d ago

The voice acting was really good, at least the dub was... Especially for its time. C'mon though, the dialogue wasn't that bad, the only real problems DBZ had was the crazy long pauses between talking and fighting, as well as how out of proportion the powers became.
