I have not seen once a PS3 game more expensive than it's 360 counterpart.

Think of it this way. Say I gave you $700 and told you to buy 20 different Xbox 360 games. Could you? Of course you could.

Now say I did the same thing with PS3 games. Can you do it? Nope.

Any particular reason? Cannot be custom fees or shipping since a game like COD4 comes from the same place, no matter if it's a 360 or PS3 version. Quite interesting, really hope somebody can provide an answer!

PS: KingJFS, the answer to your question is WOULD YOU. Would you really, really buy 20 games that are on sale ($35) because they are last year version, or nobody buy them anymore? Let's put it that way, if you would give me $700, I would not run out and buy 70 PS2 games because I could, I would use it to buy new games. Even better, if I give you $700, can you find me ONE 2 years old PS3 game??? : ) So, we are not talking 2 years old games on sale here. Just plain new games from the same dev, being more expensive in one version than the other. So far, even if I don't know why, I pretty glad I'm not from New Zealand!

I'm confused by what you mean by "last year's version." Are you referring to sports games only? Because a huge number of good non-sports titles can be purchased for the Xbox 360 for under $40. And when building a collection from scratch for public use, starting with "the classics" is the best way to go.

Here, look at the Platinum Hits line for the Xbox 360. 20 games, all under $30. You could build a nice base of a collection for under $600.

Still, the original question was: Why would a game be more expensive for the PS3 than the 360 in a country, and not in all the others!!!

Basically, why would a game like COD4 be more expensive in New Zealand???

P.S.: If you were given $700, wouldn't you buy a console you don't have right now, and a handfull of games??? I would... (would likely get the 360 and the Wii, or the 360 with some of those games on your list)

um,no. AAA doesnt actually mean anything. it is purely opinion. I happen to think the ps3 library is far better in quality than the 360 or wii despite what metacritic or gamerankings tells you. And sales defining how good a console is can be summed up with pokemon gold/silver at 23 million and nintendogs at 15 million units sold. and i think this article is wrong in saying that the 360 has a wider genre of games. actually that might be possible given the extra year, but i happen to think the ps3 has a better quality of games in each genre than the 360. but once again thats my opinion, just as this article is an opinion. The Librarian used meta-review scores to take away the "personal opinion" aspect. See, this isnt an "opinion", it is FACT that the Xbox 360 has a much better reviewed games -- ON AVERAGE.

This is the part that you should read (for the first time, cause you clearly didnt read the article (or have problems with reading comprehension)).

i was refering to at the time he had the 80gb listed as not having backwards compatability. all 80gb have that. only the 40gb doesnt. which i checked the article again and he fixed it.
it only appears to be more expensive if you have no idea what you get for your money.

lets see WRONG.

the 20 gig ps3 was backwards compatible with most ps1 and ps2 titles, about 80-90% on each system but MANY games we're not compatible at all, and would not have been even with an firmware update, all so before a certain update all the games LOOKED LIKE CRAP and had no upscaling whatsoever, after the update upscaling was allowed but they still looked like crap.

the 40 gig isn't compatable with ANY ps2 games and still only compat with about 80-90% of ps1 games (and it still looks like crap when it plays them)

the 60 gig the same compat as the 20 gig, the 80 gig the same....so no ITs not 100% compatiable with all ps1 and ps2 games.

Sony fanboys start to cry anytime someone doesn't get on their knees for sony. They get their info from SDF and SPG, it's really no suprise that their view of gaming is so embarassingly deranged. Here is something that's sure to make them scream "NNNOOOOO!!!". The 360 is a single $100 across the board price cut from not only catching the Wii, but retiring the 'ol' ps2 and burying the utter ripoff ps3. That would be $179/$249/$379 for the unaware. Me thinks 2008 will be the year the dirt is added to the ps3's already occupied grave.

Do they just expect the console to launch with games at $20? What about the PSN games like Warhawk for $40 bucks or Tekken 5 which runs at 60fps 1080p for 20 bucks? You cant pull that off on a PS2 or Xbox 1. Its a steal and theres been price drops for old PS3 games as well. Deal of the day on www.ps3fanboy.com can easily debunk this statement.

The PS2 has more games, but is a dying system. So if I had to invest my entire budget on 1 next gen console (Wii, 360, PS3) I would make the same decision. The 360 has a HUGE selection and ALL 360's are backwards compatible. The PS3 is just starting out, has a limited selection, and only the most expensive model plays previous PS2 games.

I got a 360 but looking at both sides, I think it was a smart move.

Honestly, if Sony made ALL the PS3's backwards compatible I would have taken the PS3 more seriously when I made my selection.

In pure terms of a collection wouldn't the PS3 win this quite easy?

In all respects half the PS3 games aren't actually at the shops you download them, a few next year will be downloadable plus at the shops, Warhawk and Socom are only 2 for 2007.

Then you have the Blu-Rays which has pretty much wiped the floor with HD-DVD around the world, of cause HD-DVD still struggles in the US but you can't expect that market to keep the HD-DVD format hanging around for years on end, lol.

Ps3's library is less than half the 360's in quantity and about 1/3 the quality. The last time that I looked, the 360 was within 10 titles of having more AA titles than there are total games in the ps3's library.
