Translated highlights from a Creator Interview where Final Fantasy Type-0's director, Hajime Tabata, spoke about his thoughts on Type-0, the PS Vita, his pick for 2012 PlayStation User Choice Award, and his influences.
Final Fantasy XVI demonstrates how the franchise has matured since the release of its first M-rated installment, Final Fantasy Type-0.
DS: “I hate that Type-0 is forgotten among the Final Fantasy games. While not the strongest entry, its mature story makes it stand out from the others. And even though Final Fantasy now has three rated M games — including Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Final Fantasy XVI, — Type-0 will always have the crown of being the first, and arguably the darkest.”
i agree that it is indeed dark, but it has its issues.
and i feel like the ending is what makes it really a dark final fantasy game.
the rest is more or less war where teenagers fight.
This game was the epitome of the FF dark age pretty much, was hella boring and the gameplay was tedious. I'm glad SE got the series back on track
I actually really love this game, the main problem however was that the entire story and personality of the characters, was in the lore that you need to dig very deep to find and external materials outside of the game, honestly it has my favorite lore in the franchise, I wish they had made the game more story focused, god it would have been a masterpiece
Final Fantasy 15's director Hajima Tabata departed Square Enix in 2018 and will announce his own studio's first JRPG in 2022.
For someone who did his best with FFXV despite it being in development hell for 6 years before he took over, he deserves to be acknowledged as a good leader, taking over from someone who changed his vision once a year, and then actually putting up a decent game is a achievement, add to that how Final Fantasy type 0 and Crisis core are good games as wel, I am looking forward to what he does next
“Type-0 signifies the first step of the direction I would like to take the new FF I am creating here on to.”
Does that mean what I think it means?
So...when is this coming out in the west?
For the life of me i do not understand why Squarenix did not appoint the main series directorial responsibilities to Tabata instead of Toriyama.
Tabata although on handhelds directed 2 of the best Final Fantasy games this gen in Crisis Core & Type-0. Also without his direction the 3rd Birthday would have been an even more mediocre game cause of Toriyama's garbage story.
Type-0 is a fantastic game that harkens back to the years of yore in the franchise. It totally feels & plays like a Final Fantasy game.
Why this has yet to make it over seas is a mystery & a testament to Squarenix's poor business management.
