GXC: "For the past couple of months I have been reminiscing about the days when sneaking up behind an unsuspecting guard and subduing him was one of the greatest gaming pleasures I could have. Or even silently making my way past dozens of cameras, lights, and laser to infiltrate a top security military base. There was nothing more satisfying than successfully stealing or eliminating a target, without being seen or heard. And yet when I go back to these games like, Splinter Cell and Hitman, I find myself disturbingly unsatisfied. Obviously the games haven’t changed, so what has?"
GB: "With this feature, we take a look back at the incredible Batman: Arkham City with the aim of analyzing it from the perspective of a 2024 release."
Reviews are finally out for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, and the game's Metacritic review score means Marvel still hasn't toppled DC.
The Arkham games are largely excellent, a shame they are being followed up by that god awful looking suicide squad game.
You can't expect a game to match 96-94 meta apple for apple. Different era and different gen. No need to diminish either game's achievement. Arkham City and Spiderman 2 are both amazing sequels that improved upon their already incredible first parts.
And right on cue, here comes the downplaying of Insomniacs masterpiece, not gonna work, this game is gonna be beast in success.
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.
Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years
The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.
It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.
The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.
The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?
The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.
I prefer stealth in my games. I went through most of Deus Ex: Human Revolution without lethally taking out my adversaries. It makes the game more fun, works your mind and raises the stakes. That's why Hitman: Absolution is on my must-buy list this year.
Come back? Where did Metal Gear go? Hitman is right around the corner. Splinter Cell is moving away but we got Batman in return. Mark of the Ninja anyone?
It's certainly possible; I'm definitely loving the older Splinter Cell games.
I get my Stealth fix from Metal Gear Solid but Hitman is on my buy list
I could live without them thats for sure.
