The score doesn't fit the review. Actually listen to what they say. It seems like it would be no big deal if one chose miss out on this one.

crxss4218d ago (Edited 4218d ago )

looks like they took down the page... then again it's 3:15 am pst, hopefully it'll get fixed soon. perhaps they're changing the score! duhduhduh....

Digitaldude4218d ago

I agree, I got the vibe that its a great action game. Has some tense moments that are probably scarier than most games out today(which isn't hard at all) but isn't very old school Resident evily.
Looks fun though, I enjoyed the demo enough to warrant a purchase.

Bimkoblerutso4217d ago

I...kinda got that impression as well. Not that I think the game is incapable of being good, but the ENTIRE video review was stuff that they disliked about the game.

They said:
- the gameplay was "antiquated,"
- the writing "wasn't particularly good,"
- the graphics were "showing their age"
- the non-shooting segments "weren't handled well"
- the item management is "a dinosaur"

I mean, forgive me for being a little suspicious, but 8.8 is a score you give to a game that had a couple of minor problems here or there...

ConstipatedGorilla4217d ago

Judging from the review, it looks to be worth a play-through to me personally. Maybe not a 10, but it should be a good time.

SilentNegotiator4217d ago

No surprise that GT would give a highscore to some PEWPEWPEW even if it's full of issues.

Blacklash934217d ago (Edited 4217d ago )

GT does that sometimes, usually with big games. Lots of negatigve comments about many aspects of a game throughout a review then BAM, a score around 9. They've been like this for the Assassin's Creed games, for instance.

As much I'd rather not believe it, they seem like they're being paid off for a high score or they're too afraid of a backlash for giving a highly anticipated AAA game a low score.

knowyourstuff4217d ago

I can't believe the mixed reviews for this game. Some reviewers giving 9's and 8's, other troll sites I don't trust like Destructoid and Gamespot giving it 3 and 4.5 out of 10. Then there's the pseudo intellectual sites like Eurogamer where they have the journalistic integrity of your usual rag tabloid trash magazine. I really don't know what to believe now - that's how objective gaming press is.

schlanz4217d ago

Uh.. were we listening to the same review?

"Yet measured against its contemporaries, it remains near the top of its class... deserves to be played by any fan of the action genre."

jeseth4216d ago

The scores for this game are all over the place. Unless user reviews come back with good feedback I'll wait 'til Amazon has it for cheap.

Haven't seen a game with reviews this scattered in a while

Goog score.. Yeah! big Resident Evil advertising on their site...

geddesmond4217d ago

I'm honestly really glad to see reviewers eat this game up. I called it weeks ago. After all the crap Capcom pulled this is all they deserve. Now look at them, there biggest franchises is on the brink of destruction. All thats left to confirm is sales number and given know body I know is getting it and they all got RE5 I expect this game to sell less than a mil on both platforms first week combined.

DarkHeroZX4216d ago

The reviews are split on this game, sofar the metascore looks to sit around 72.

Nemesis45674216d ago

@Knowyourstuff

Gamestop trolls on Resident evil? They gave Resident evil 4 a 9.6 and resident evil 5 an 8.5

its a good game but not everyone is going to like it.
i myself enjoy it but i have some problems with it and understand the people who and will hate it.
but dont let the demo cloud your decision and dont be so closed minded.
the mercenary mode is decent and there isn't anything new in it.
there isn't any sense of exploration and the skill system suck my.....it just sucks.
depending on people the game will be from 7.5 to 9, not everyone is going to like but i think its a great game but i hope capcom listen to there fans next time.
keep the co-op in extra mode like lost in nightmare or something or the mercenary.
focus on 1 character.
less scripted moment.
wild open stages and more exploration
have most of the enemies use melee and keep the one with guns limited.
have more meaningful QTE like from resident evil 4,god hand, bayonetta.
meaningful friendly A.I that are not scapegoat.
real horror.
improved net-code.
bring weapon shop and management back{resident evil 4}

Chitown712914217d ago

Im sorry this has nothing to do with your comment, but I wish Gametrailers would go back to their old website..........this new one sucks in comparison

iMaim4218d ago

where'd the video go?
was it removed? i thought the embargo was lifted.

banjadude4217d ago

If you go to the website, and press the download button, a quicktime window will show up instead, and you can watch it then.

That's how I watched it, before the embargo was on.

abzdine4217d ago (Edited 4217d ago )

GT gives 8.8 to all games they review.
all types of journalism are corrupt, i tried the demo and it's not worth more than 1/10..

Capcom is a major publisher in Japan and websites like GT live with exclusivity reveals and things like that from their partners and Capcom is one of them.
If they review this game in an objective way they will probably break the deal.

This game is broken gameplay is retarded zombies with guns lmao.. where is the horror part ?

ConstipatedGorilla4217d ago

Thank god you don't review games professionally. I'd avoid whatever site you worked for like the plague.

abzdine4217d ago (Edited 4217d ago )

a shitty game deserve shitty review scores, regardless of its name. It's as simple as this.

You know what, from now i can assure you GT will give around 9 to the next RE, because they give scores just by looking at the game's name.

ConstipatedGorilla4217d ago

"This game is broken gameplay is retarded zombies with guns lmao"

Now imagine a statement like that in an IGN or Gamespot review. That site would lose a little credibility, wouldn't it?

csreynolds4217d ago

You can't go around saying all types of journalism are corrupt. Tarring everyone with the same brush makes you a moron.

That said, I wouldn't have given RE6 an 8.8 either. Personally, I feel the series has lost its way...

Bloodraid4216d ago

I cannot comprehend why or how people take game reviews as seriously as they do. It's nothing more than an individual, or group of individuals who assign a number to a game based on how enjoyable they found it.

Even if they're being paid to give games a good score, how does it affect you? Are you forced to run out and buy the game? Are your politicians passing legislation because of it? Does it have any bearing on your life in the slightest? No? Then quit whining like a damned child.

Crying about something like this is just as pathetic as the people who complain about movie critics who dislike highly rated movies. It's childish, and ridiculous.

There Will Never Be Another Resident Evil 6 (And That Sucks)

A rough gem that may never get the proper treatment it deserves.

Terry_B398d ago

^^ I don't want what the author was smoking.

-Foxtrot398d ago

It’s this thing where after enough time people start coming out to defend bad games for some strange reason

I mean hey if you liked it good for you but it was a f****** awful RE game.

Capcom are finally back on track and now people are crying about their shitty mistakes? No thanks.

RpgSama396d ago

I'd take a full blown remake of RE6 based around a GREATLY expanded Leon part and make it even more horror.

That might be something I would be interested in, do not care about any of the other parts of that game.

MadLad396d ago

I couldn't even get through the demo.
Years later I bought it for $3 for PC. I played about 5 minutes into it and uninstalled it.

babadivad396d ago (Edited 396d ago )

RE6 was better than 5. RE6 just took the series to the conclusion that started with 4.

RE4 was the inaugural title in the action game trilogy.

RE9 will be the likely end of the first person psychological thriller trilogy.

They'll switch it up for RE10 or more likely titled RE-X.

hotnickles396d ago

5 is vastly better than 6 imo

TheEnigma313396d ago

RE5 is way better than 6. Stop lying to yourself

FallenAngel1984398d ago (Edited 398d ago )

“But all this is solely with respect to how fans felt back in 2013 when Resident Evil 6 had just been released. The game resulted in the series getting indefinitely killed off until 5 years later when we got Resident Evil 7 and balance was restored yet again. ”

1.) Resident Evil 6 came out in 2012, not 2013

2.) A series getting killed off means no titles at all released in a time period. Silent Hill, Dead Space, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve & Siren fans would love to see how you can say RE was on the same level of dormancy. In that 5 year time period we had a number of remasters that kept the series alive and kicking. RE1 02ms remaster even broke sales records during the period between RE6 and RE7.

3. Way to disrespect Resident Evil: Revelations 2. It was released during that RE6-RE7 period. It along with its predecessor were mainline titles that kept the horror roots of the series alive in comparison to RE5 and RE6. RE: R1 in particular even introduced the ability to walk and shoot into the series, a feature we can all be grateful for that in modern RE titles. The director RE: R1 later went on to direct RE7 and the director of RE: R2 later went to to direct the RE2 & RE4 remakes.

Immagaiden398d ago (Edited 398d ago )

“Resident Evil 6 is often maligned as the worst entry in the Resident Evil series and is cited as the cause behind the long death of the franchise.”

Titles in the Resident Evil series such as Survivor, Gaiden, Dead Aim, Outbreak, Operation Raccoon City, Umbrella Corps, & Resistance we’re received far worse than RE6.

And death of the franchise?

RE6 was still one of the most commercially successful games in the series, guaranteeing the franchise’s future. Compare how underwhelming sales of Dead Space 3, Silent Hill: Downpour. Alone in the Dark: Illumination, Dino Crisis 3, Fatal Frame: Maiden in Black Water, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, and Metroid: Other M which caused their respective series to go into a long period of dormancy without any rereleases to even keep activity up.

RE however still had a significant number of titles released and rereleased after RE6. Not only that but development for RE7 started a short time after its predecessor came out, meaning there was never a development time that the series could be considered dead. There hasn’t been a single year that Capcom stopped either developing, releasing, or rereleasing Resident Evil games. Let’s not act like the 5 year period between RE6 and RE7 is such a longer time compared to the 4 year period between RE4 and RE5 as well as RE7 and RE8. We can pretty much expect RE9 in either 2025 or 2026, and you can be certain that Capcom will still release other RE tiles leading up to it

TheEnigma313397d ago (Edited 397d ago )

Man go some where with this. Only a few like this game. Why would they remake a garbage game no one likes risking money because it won't sell? RE 6 is dumpster drippings, sorry.

MIDGETonSTILTS17396d ago

It wasn’t that good, even if you enjoyed it like me.
