Playstation 3 Marvel Vs Capcom Origins Has 13 Fewer Achievements/Trophies Than Xbox 360 Version

"So my friend IMs me with something VERY interesting. Apparently the Playstation 3 version of the recently released Capcom fighter Marvel vs Capcom Origins has fewer trophies (achievements on the Xbox) than the Xbox version."

Pretty simple explanation, there is a limit on the amount of trophies/gamerscore that can be allocated to the game. Now with the PS3 there are only 3 classifications, Bronze, Silver and Gold. However with the gamerscore they can assign what they like to an achievement (5, 10, 15, 100 etc) It seems Capcom just hit the PSN game trophy limit :)

MaxXAttaxX4225d ago

Looking at the full list of achievements... that is a fairly short list.
I've played PS3 games with twice the number of Trophies.

Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum Trophy values have nothing to do with it.
Trophy limit my ass!

Romudeth4225d ago

Doesn't Uncharted 3 have like 100 trophies? Trophy limit my ass. Capcom is just being lazy.

AngelicIceDiamond4225d ago (Edited 4225d ago )

Well yeah that's an exclusive game. Of course Naughty Dog would implement as many Trophies as they can and Sony will allow the max amount of Trophy's.

As far as this is concerned looks like Sony has trophy limits just like how MS had achievement limit. Until MS updated it for increased Achievement support for digital games.

Krimmson4225d ago

This isn't the first time Capcom has given PS3 users the short end in terms of achievements.
Resident Evil 4 HD and Resident Evil Code: Veronica HD both have 1000 achievement points on 360 but do not have platinum trophies on PS3.

Kamikaze1354225d ago

You're right about that, but Capcom could have just included more bronze trophies instead of one silver or gold.

Ares84HU4225d ago

There is no trophy limit. Look at games that get DLC and they also include trophies in them. If a dev want's they could put 100 trophies in a game. It's up to them.

Dark_Overlord4225d ago

The base game has a limit, then each DLC that is added has a trophy limit of its own, read my post below if you don't believe me :)

Dark_Overlord4225d ago (Edited 4225d ago )

To the multiple uninformed disagreers, YES THERE IS A TROPHY LIMIT ON GAMES. This is a PSN release and as such has the most trophies that there are allowed. Even retail games have a trophy limit. Read this forum post for a more detailed description

http://www.ps3trophies.org/...

Notice how no base retail game goes over 1230 points (as they are referred to in the post) or no PSN game goes over 315? THAT IS DUE TO SONYS LIMITS! Without those restrictions, whats to stop a game giving out 500 gold trophies?

Certain PSN games do offer a platinum, however it is not certain what criteria they have to meet to offer this. (Usually bigger budget games though)

Also with each DLC pack they are allowed to add a certain amount more trophies

EDIT - Plus the article confirms what I said

“My colleague (...) sent me your email, as I’m the PR lead for MvC Origins. The answer to your question is that for Marvel vs. Capcom Origins, we maxed out achievements and trophies that are available for a title on each platform. The cap varies by platform.”

:)

It's part of Capcom's stradegy.
They'll offer the trophies as DLC for €5 each.
Or maybe they'll add the trophies in the Marvel vs. Capcom Super Origins or Marvel vs. Capcom Ultimate Origins editions.
Oh wait, i know what they're doing!
They're saving the trophies for the Marvel vs. Capcom Super Ultimate Origins edition.

Bathyj4225d ago

*sigh*

Please dont tell me people are going to start arguing over who has the best/most trophies/achievements now.

This is taking one-upsmanship to an absurd level.

Especially when you consider my kung-fu is much stronger than yours.

If it makes you guys feel any better. They're practically the same game on different consoles...

People have a thing for getting all "hoop-la" over virtual trophies. Play for the fun, not the swag!

Also, isn't having less trophies a good thing? You can get them out of the way faster so that you can have more fun just playing the game for what it is :)

Marvel Vs. Capcom’s 20th Anniversary: Looking Back On A Legacy

While Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes may not have invented the cross-tag fighting platform (that honor would go to X-Men vs. Street Fighter, which released years before), it certainly solidified it, adding a smorgasbord of new characters from both the Marvel and Capcom universes to duke it out in high-flying fashion, with a number of powerful moves and super techniques that would leave opponents in the dust.

20 Characters Missing from the Marvel vs. Capcom Series

You can't make everyone happy, but there are definitely a few heroes and villains who really should be in Marvel vs. Capcom.

Yeah it's really strange that they didn't use any of their Netflix characters. Banking their cinematic properties seems to be a main focus of the suits anyway. Why leave them out? Both companies have a ridiculous amount of characters to come out with a roster so uninspired. Im having fun for what it is but it still makes you wonder who's making these decisions.

CorndogBurglar2405d ago

This is something else I can't figure out.

Not only do they have the film rights to Daredevil and Punisher, and not only do they have shows on Netflix for both of them, they are also fan favorite characters long before the movies even started getting made.

This was a perfect opportunity for them to add DD and Punisher to this series. It would have softened the "no X-Men" blow. Look, we didn't add X-Men this time, but we DO have these guys!

Jaypi032405d ago

Knowing Capcom, most of the character listed will be DLC.

PapaBop2405d ago

Not to mention Iron Fist who was in the last game. DD would have definitely would have gone a long way to soften the X-Men blow but it's Capcom we're talking about, they never do things the easy way.

Skull5212405d ago

You guys are forgetting the $30 season 1 pass... and the $30 season 2 pass, and the $30 season 3 pass...

Agreed, it looks like most of the marvel picks were for movie promotional reasons so it makes me wonder why not one Netflix Marvel character is featured in the game.

No doubt they may have that lined up for DLC

The 10th Rider2405d ago

I imagine Netflix makes as much money from the characters as Disney does. Disney is also pulling their shows from Netflix to start their own streaming services, but since Netflix was involved in the making of those shows I think they're staying on Netflix for the time being.

Other than that I'm pretty sure the amount they make from Netflix shows pales in comparison to the amount they make from the MCU.

opinionated2405d ago

And iron fist was already in the previous game. They made an active decision to take him out lol. It's just weird if they are using MvC as promotional material like it seems.

PhoenixUp2405d ago

MvC:I has the most underwhelming roster in the series.

So much potential for characters that could've been unexpected gone to waste.

cellfluid2404d ago

The main reason I didn't buy capcom marvel infinite is because it doesn't have a combo breaker..

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite isn’t the same without arcade-era pixel art

A look back at the Marvel vs Capcom series and the evolution of pixel art to 3D.

It's just a pity the magic that Capcom captured in the '90s with their hand-drawn sprites has been lost to generic, plasticky 3D models. Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is fun, but that world-mashing graphical charm just isn't the same.

Lexreborn22406d ago

For once can we like just let a franchise change without holding it to nostalgia?

3-4-52406d ago

No because it looks worse. If it looked better, then yes.

Lexreborn22406d ago

Looks are 100% objective the game does not look ugly. If that's the biggest gripe is the looks then ain't no reason to talk about this with people like you

FallenAngel19842406d ago

On its own merits MvC: I still looks off in some places

Lexreborn22406d ago

So because some places look off in some individuals opinion it ultimately means the game looks ugly? The game looks great I just got done playing it the last 6 hours. The style they chose is simply different that's it.

FallenAngel19842405d ago

It certainly does in comparison to past titles.

Some of the characters weren't made to be in this kind of art style
