A job listing has revealed Microsoft and Turn 10 are hiring in anticipation of Forza 5.

The advert indicates development might already be under way on the next installment. There's no indication as to whether or not Forza 5 is current gen, or will aim to arrive on Microsoft's next hardware.

another one? man they must love pumping out them forza games. guess they want catch up to gran turismo. that way next gen it'll be forza 6 VS Gran Tursimo 6

Gazondaily4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

Lol yeah right. If anything, Gran Turismo has a lot of catching up to do with Forza.

Right now, you can see GT in Forza's rear view mirror.

srcBFMVBMTH4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

If you are talking about sales. Like what 360 fans constantly do when comparing Halo to Killzone.

Then no. Gran Turismo series curb stomps the Forza series. In fact, it even curb stomps the Halo series in sales LMAO.

If you are talking about review scores of the latest installments however. Then yes, Forza wins.

Gazondaily4228d ago

@srcBFMBLABLA

I'm talking about quality. Yes, reviews. Also, sales when comparing Halo to Killzone? How about quality when it comes to comparing Halo to Killzone? Either way, Halo trounces Killzone effortlessly. You would have to be delusional to think otherwise.

from the beach4228d ago

Maybe the problem is GT seeing GT in GT's rear view mirror. Past glories much?

srcBFMVBMTH4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

@Septic

"Also, sales when comparing Halo to Killzone? How about quality when it comes to comparing Halo to Killzone? "

Are you deaf and blind? EVERYBODY KNOWS 360 fans brag about Halo sales LMAO. More so than bragging about quality.

"Either way, Halo trounces Killzone effortlessly. You would have to be delusional to think otherwise."

Either way, Gran Turismo series trounces the Forza series in quality and sales effortlessly. You would have to be delusional to think otherwise.

It even curbstomps Halo in sales. LMAO.

When comparing Gears to Uncharted. 360 fans say sales are what matters, not review scores or how many times it's been nominated or won GOTY (U2/U3). But when comparing Forza to Gran Turismo, they turn around and say reviews are what counts. loooool Hypocrites much?

@from the beach

"Maybe the problem is GT seeing GT in GT's rear view mirror. Past glories much?"

Halo fans constantly combine sales and average metacritic scores of last gen Halo games. Don't see the harm in doing the same for Gran Turismo.

@from the beach (Below)

"while the last GT game came out about 20 years ago!"

GT4 came out in 2004, GT5-Prologue came out in 2007. GT5 came out in 2010. That's a 3 year time gap, it may not be doing almost yearly releases like Halo but it's not that bad.

@Baka-akaB (Below)

Pretty much.

Baka-akaB4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

In both quality and sales GT doesnt have to care much about Forza . That fake rivalry and those dreams of gangsta like clashes are only in the deluded minds of the media and forza fans .

from the beach4228d ago

Well the Halo fans needn't, since that series got a few releases this generation, while the last GT game came out about 20 years ago!

lonesoul654228d ago

Calling Forza the better game has nothing to do with sales or fanboyism...it's an opinion. I personally feel it is the better game of the two in both playability and fun factor. Though both games could have a better sense of speed to them, Forza kept me playing LONG after GT5 had collected dust on the shelf

darthv724227d ago

have done well for themselves. With each release they add new things that one or the other had prior and work to improve on those. That is the usual way things work

Im not a sales guy but there have been a few GT games where the next release did not surpass the previous. Like GT2 as compared to GT1. GT1 set the standard and was the original millions got hooked on. So its likely obvious to think that GT2 would outdo it.

It did on certain aspects but in overall sales it fell short of the first. GT3 was the first game for the PS2 so naturally it was a huge hit. Not only getting more features than 1 & 2 but also being in higher res that the previous ones. GT4 expanded but didnt surpass 3.

So basically we see a trend in some games where simply being the next release does not automatically make it the better seller. Forza is not immune to that as well. Forza has made some great improvements over the releases but I think what turns some people off is if there are too many releases within the same generation.

Some things are best in moderation and looking at a sports game or racing game is not the same as the continuation of an action game (like uncharted) or a shooter (gears, halo, killzone). Those game are story driven and will tend to not only expand on the story but do new things in the process.

If we did use sales then you need only look at the halo trend. halo 1 sold x amount while halo 2 outsold that and halo 3 outsold halo 2. Thus in that example, the user base has increased with every release.

There just arent that many games that do that anymore.

Knight_Crawler4228d ago

Yeah becuase it totally going to release next year or year after next -_-

Will you be saying the same thing if Uncharted 4 is annouce for the PS3?

RivetCityGhoul4227d ago

are you stupid i never said what year they were gonna release forza. get off the gas you sensitive ass

Bobby Kotex4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

Well they're just continuing the tradition of milking Xbox franchises. It's basically a forza, gears and halo machine.

FunkMacNasty4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

Hey Bobby Kotex -

And I suppose the fact that PD has just admitted they are working on GT6, still won't qualify in your book as milking?

Also,
How many God Of War Games are there?
How many Uncharted Games are there?
How many Killzone Games are there?

This so-called "milking" of a franchise goes both ways, though I'm sure the Sony Defense Force will come out in droves to disagree with me. That's the problem with fanboys... they argue in the face of actual fact and clear logic, simply to take a bullet for a giant faceless mega-corp that simply wants their money. Open your mind.

And in Response to this comment you left below:

"The fact that many people might disagree is what's wrong with the gaming public. A bunch of sheep waiting for the next sequel."

So wait, Does that mean when Uncharted 4 gets announced, you wont be jumping out of your seat in anticipation right? Because that will officially be milking? You'll just beg Naughty Dog for an new IP instead wont you? So now, all the millions of hardcore gamers who are pumped with excitement and anticiaption over the upcoming MGS: Ground Zeroes or GTA V.. We're all just "sheep" waiting for another sequel right? Sorry but your arguments are garbage.

ALLWRONG4228d ago

You mean like 16 SOCOM's and 14 Ratchet and Clanks? MS has a long way to go before they catch Sony or even Nintendo on milking. In fact MS milks the least.

You want to try again?

Knight_Crawler4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

at funk Mac you forgot to mention that a character from each of those games will be in Battle Royal...man talk milking the cow for all its worth - Kratos was also in Mortal Kombat, what next Kratos in LPB muahahahah....oh wait you can dress Sach Boy as him.

Starbucks_Fan4228d ago

I would love to see how this looks next gen.

eferreira4228d ago

Haven't played much forza games but they sure do roll out quickly. Why don't they just continue to support the previous one. It looked good and played well. Horizon actually surprised me. I may pick it up

green4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

"Why don't they just continue to support the previous one". You will be had pressed to find any game in any genre talkless of a racing game that has as much post release support than the Forza franchise.

Every month since last October, Forza 4 has released 10 new cars as DLC and offers one to the community for free. Apart fron that, they support the game sith updates and so many other features and stay intouch with the community.

People on N4G like to discredit Turn10 due to the rivalry with GT but interms of community support, they are outstanding. I can not wait to see what they will do with new hardware.

Skate-AK4228d ago

They could have had the cars pre-made before the game came out then released them as DLC.

green4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

@skate-AK : How can they pre make cars that have not even gone into production or have been unveiled to the public?

An example is the Viper SRT. It was unveiled to the public at the 2012 New York Motor show in April. It is now available as DLC on Forza 4.. So please tell me, how could they have pre made the car pre October 2011 when the car had not been unveiled and no one outside SRT had seen it?

In the auto industry, cars get revealed and get released every month. As they come out, Turn 10 ads them as DLC along with some other classics that the community wants. Hence why people complain about GT5 not having half as many modern cars as Forza 4.

Baka-akaB4228d ago

It's a very good thing that forza fans get the supports they want and deserves . i'll just say that likewise GT has been consistantly enriched via patches too .

Most people coming back a few months later usually dont recognize the game anymore

green4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

@Baka-akaB : I am not talking about patches. While those are good and are always needeed, i am talking about new features and a constant release of new cars as they are done in the auto industry.

Some may not appreciate these features but as someone who know works and blogs about the auto industry, i consider this to be absolutely amazing.Knowing that cars like the Jaguar F-type and the new Range Rover that will be unveiled at this weeks Paris Motor show, will in a matter of months, find their way into Forza 4 as DLC is just fantastic.

There are games that have sold millions more than Forza 4 but because of Turn10' conytinious support and release of features, the Forza 4 communit feels way larger because they are always active and keep coming back because there is something new to do and see every month.

Baka-akaB4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

I'm a talking about support . GT added tons of features and content via patches and DLC that's all . Turn10 commitment is commendable , but GT's doesnt have to be ashamed and is every bit as outstanding .

green4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

@ Baka: Never did i say that Polyphony digital should be ashmed of anything in regards to GT5. WHen did i talk about GT anyway? You guys make it seem like It's a crime around here to compliment Forza. Damn

Baka-akaB4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

Wow i never said you did . You wanna read into it that way . Just saying that both had outstanding support so far , and that GT's stuff wasnt just mere patching and fix , but tons of additions too .

Stop believing i'm threatened by forza , even if ironically i'm mostly commenting on GT in this threat . I just dont see it as a direct competition , doesnt mean it's not a great game as well .

yea... i always kinda hoped GT would make something like horizon...

realistic physics on open roads... seems kinda fun.

FunkMacNasty4228d ago

Turn 10 release monthly car packs for about $5.00 with 10 new cars each pack, and one free downloadable car per pack. If you don't want to shell out $5 for the whole pack, you can buy individual cars from each pack at a dollar a piece. Not to mention the Porche expansion pack with 30 porches.

Monthly content added by the developer...That's pretty damn good post-release support of a title if you ask me.

DiRtY4228d ago

Forza Horizon is not a Turn10 title form the ground up. Playground games is developing it, which is a team with staff from codemasters (DiRT) and Bizarre Creations (PGR). Turn10 is helping them out here and there but that's it.

There is a new Forza of the mainseries released every 2 years, which is just as frequently as Uncharted for example.

I think some developers should just keep on working on their franchises as long as the quality is a given. (Uncharted, Forza, Gears of War are good examples for that).

I can't wait to see what Turn10 does with new hardware though.

srcBFMVBMTH4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

Forza - 2005
Forza 2 - 2007
Forza 3 - 2009
Forza 4 - 2011
Forza 5 - 2013?

Uncharted - 2007
Uncharted 2 - 2009
Uncharted 3 - 2011

Dude, with The Last Of Us on the way, I doubt Naughty Dog will be releasing an Uncharted game anytime soon.

"I think some developers should just keep on working on their franchises as long as the quality is a given."

While I can't argue with that, it would be at least be nice to have Turn10 branch out to different types of racing games and make new IP's. Wouldn't mind seeing what their creative minds could make other than just Forza.

Bobby Kotex4228d ago

The fact that many people might disagree is what's wrong with the gaming public. A bunch of sheep waiting for the next sequel.

DiRtY4228d ago

Uhm yeah, Uncharted has a 2 year development cycle just like Forza. Forza is an older franchise though.

Yeah ND makes TLOU now, but why should Turn10 create a new IP? I mean, what would even be the point?

They are making a racing sim and their criteria is reality. They try to get as close as possible.

Sure for ND, they create a new universe with a new IP (story, characters, environment etc.) Everything is different for them compared to Uncharted.
Forza, or any racing sim, doesn't have these kind of criterias. So do you really want a bunch of car-lovers to make a Plattformer or something like that? I doubt that would work.
Same for the GT guys (PD). I don't want them to make a shooter just for the sake of creating a new ip. Actually since 1998 they did "Omega Boost" in 1999 and "Tourist Trophy: The real Riding Simulator" in 2006. Other than that, they released half a dozen GT games.

Forza Horizon is more of an Arcade racer than a sim. They could have named it differently to have a new ip, but the game would still be the same, so I don't care about that at all.

ChunkyLover534228d ago

Would you like to see Polyphony Digital branch out and not make Gran Turismo? Just because Turn 10 is able to put out their racing sim quicker doesn't mean they should stop making them.

There have been 3 Forza Motorsports game this "elongated" generation. The Xbox 360 is 7 years old, 3 games for such a time isn't really too many, and people and critics alike both love the series.

Forza Horizon is being developed by Playground Games, which is comprised of people who made Project Gotham Racing and Blur. Its Forza in name only.

On your Uncharted list you forgot to mention the Vita version, which was actually assisted by Naughty Dog, so 4 of those games were made thus far this generation.

When your good at something, which obviously Turn 10 is, you keep doing it, you go out and prove yourself the best, and in my eyes they've proven the Forza Motorsport series to be the best this generation. Who wouldn't want to see what these guys could do with next gen tech in the forza series?

srcBFMVBMTH4227d ago (Edited 4227d ago )

@DiRtY

"Uhm yeah, Uncharted has a 2 year development cycle just like Forza. Forza is an older franchise though."

How is that even relevant to what I was saying? Lmao. It doesn't matter. After Uncharted 3's success (Winning numerous awards, nominated GOTY, selling almost 5 million copies etc.), THEY STILL MOVE ON. They don't need to rely on the success of one franchise to carry their weight.

"Yeah ND makes TLOU now, but why should Turn10 create a new IP? I mean, what would even be the point?"

Uhmmm, to create something new and fresh? Explore new ideas? They could explore Off road racing perhaps, motorcycles and ATV's maybe?

"They are making a racing sim and their criteria is reality. They try to get as close as possible.

Forza, or any racing sim, doesn't have these kind of criterias. So do you really want a bunch of car-lovers to make a Plattformer or something like that? I doubt that would work."

They could explore many things in the racing genre. Just because they are experts in one area doesn't mean they can't expand to different territories. You never know UNTIL YOU TRY.

"Same for the GT guys (PD). I don't want them to make a shooter just for the sake of creating a new ip. Actually since 1998 they did "Omega Boost" in 1999 and "Tourist Trophy: The real Riding Simulator" in 2006. Other than that, they released half a dozen GT games."

You made my point easier to explain with the fact that they've worked on something different. They've got 3 IP's around their belt. The fact that they've tried to make games other than Gran Turismo says something dude, THEY AT LEAST HAVE TRIED. And would PS3 fans complain if PD went to work on Omega Boost 2 or Tourist Trophy 2? Definitely not. You make it seem like if Turn10 created something other than Forza, it would be the death of them Lmao.

----------------------------- -------------------
----------------------------- -------------------

@ChunkLover53

"Would you like to see Polyphony Digital branch out and not make Gran Turismo?"

Uhhhm, that's a pretty dumb question. Pretty sure any PlayStation fan would be psyched if they made a different game.

"Just because Turn 10 is able to put out their racing sim quicker doesn't mean they should stop making them."

I'm not saying they should stop. I'm saying take a break and do something different. BIG DIFFERENCE

"On your Uncharted list you forgot to mention the Vita version, which was actually assisted by Naughty Dog, so 4 of those games were made thus far this generation."

I also didn't add the Horizon version of Forza. Your point? I left out games that aren't main installments to the series. Forza Horizon and Golden Abyss.

"When your good at something, which obviously Turn 10 is, you keep doing it, you go out and prove yourself the best,"

Despite this, you are basically telling me that Turn10 should be confined to one series because that's all they are good at. You are telling me that you don't want them to branch out, learn, and do different things? That they should just keep making Forza games and nothing else because that's all they are good at. If they've already proven to be the best (IN YOUR EYES), then why the need too keep doing it? lol

"Who wouldn't want to see what these guys could do with next gen tech in the forza series?"

I'm pretty sure everybody would. Including me, but given the fact that that's all they have worked on. It's pretty sad IMO.

abzdine4228d ago

Ok and they'll say F5 is the best Forza game ever. But what are they improving really ?

They are making Horizon and they have time to make F5 it smells fishy for me but for those who only have Xbox they must be wetting their pants right now cause they only know Forza.

Forza Italia..

wane4228d ago

Playground Games are making Horizon not Turn 10

green4228d ago

Turn10 are not developing Horizon. Playground games is.

bubblebeam4228d ago

@abzdine

If you have no interest in Forza, why are you here?
It really shows your immaturity and you are not impressing anyone.

Please grow up, for the sake of N4G, the internet and humanity. I hope one day you will see how childish you were acting on the internet (I know I used to).

Games are for EVERYONE to enjoy, don't let brand loyalty cloud your judgement, as in the end only YOU are missing out.

Looking back to 2014 and Forza Motorsport 5 Racing GOTY Edition

Carlos writes - "When it was time for Forza 5 to rock on up to the track, we were just entering the third generation of Xbox consoles, and to show off all that extra horsepower that would come inside the Xbox One, they wanted a flagship title that could truly showcase just what miracles the next generation could perform. And what better title than Microsoft’s beloved racer!"

Such s supreme racing title. Hands down racing franchise of recent decades. Nothing has come close in quality or ratings.

Not to mention the worst rated game in the series.

mijayire1735d ago

Apart from Forza 5. Talking about generally the Forza series has always been rated high. Perhaps Forza 5 was rushed for launch. Although made up again by Forza 6 and 7.

IRetrouk1736d ago

I liked the game well enough, it was a good starting point for the new gen and helped them build up to what motorsport 7 is now, the controversies wasnt with the numbers of cars or tracks though, it was more to do with the pc footage being passed off as xbox one, the downgrade from what they originally had shown caused more upset than the numbers.

Are the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for September 2017 any good?
