Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX announced for PS3

Square Enix has announced a new Kingdom Hearts HD Collection for the PlayStation 3.

@crXss: I agree with you. I can't understand why people are applauding SE for this. This is not an HD collection. This is 1 and a half games and some cutscenes for $40. Re:CHoM is NOT the game people wanted in an HD collection when they thought about a KH HD Collection. Most assumed KH1, KH2, and then maybe Birth By Sleep. Or all of the games. It's not like PS3 couldn't handle that with a dual layer Blu-Ray disc. This is just sad.

It's only been announced for Japan. Maybe the western release will get both games, otherwise Square can forget selling me a copy.

With HD collections like God of War, this kind of gimped release doesn't cut it anymore. Either pack all the major releases onto the disk (which they could do with room to spare) or make sure this sells for no more than $19.99.

Splitting the series up to try and gouge customers - Square is acting like a website that splits a simple story into 15 pages just to get more hits...

Ok, let's set this in perspective.
KH 1,5 will include, KH 1 HD, RE:Chain of Memories HD and cutscenes from 358/2 Days. This is 2 full games in HD.

So KH 2,5 Will most likely include: KH 2 HD, Birth By Sleep HD and cutscenes from re: Coded.

So each package comes with 2 games and cutscenes and probably some information about the DS games.

I think releasing 2 collections is quite fair, God of War only had 2 games in it's collection and Shadow and Ico also had only two.
Releasing four HD games + a load of cutscenes from two games would be amazing but you can't possibly expect that from SE?

I'm just happy though they could have had KH 1 and 2 in the same collection and then the others in a other one, cause this is forcing us to buy both.

They'll probably release another collection of Kingdom Hearts 2, Coded, and Birth By Sleep. I dunno about Coded, though, since it's kind of different. Maybe Dream Drop Distance instead? Or maybe all 4? I dunno...

I shall attempt to explain good sir...

1.5 essentially means it's got KH1 and KH1.5 which is Chain of Memories. It could also possibly be hinting at 1.5 as well for the fact that we're getting Kingdom Hearts 1 (Final Mix) which was a Japan only release (at least from what I've heard, we're getting the Final Mix version...)

The ReMIX part I believe was a little play on Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories for the PS2 which I'm sure is the version that is included. So "(Re)MIX".

Probably because it tied into KH2...you really needed to play it to understand KH2. I'm hoping when KH Remix 2.5 comes out it will include KH Dream Drop Distance

Nah man... If you're asking if the PS2 Re: Chain of Memories was bad because of the awful reviews it got, don't listen to that at all. The only reason it got those is because it used a bit of content that was from the first game. The GBA version got a lot of great reviews, and it's essentially a remake of it with voice acting and cutscenes. Not sure how that could be a bad thing. Plus the game is quite fun once you get used to the card system.

Chain of Memories had a PS2 version, and no it's not bad. It has an absolutely awesome combat system if you can get used to it. Also the story is really good. In narrative form terms I think it's one of the more interesting ones out of all the KH games.

The only thing I wasn't too keen about was the level design. It's kind of like a dungoen crawler and so it can be a bit monotonous, but you decide the contents of each room with these cards you collect, and that aspect is pretty sweet.

I really want to play the ps2 version.

I doubt it will have 3D as it is still a very recent title. My guess would be KH2 Final Mix, KH BBS Final Mix and the cutscenes from KH Re:Coded in HD. So it is set up just like this release.

It isn't the GBA version. Its the PS2 version of Chain of Memories. Considering people have been complaining that they want the entire story in one place, it would be silly for them to go skipping games. The story of Chain of Memories helps understanding the events in KH2 a lot and there are quite a few major plot points in Chain of Memories story. Considering the God of War Collection was split in two and people lapped it up i don't see the issue here. You get two games that were PS2 releases upped to HD with trophy support and further HD cutscenes from the joining DS game which will further your understanding of Roxas from KH2.

I will give them a chance because they have 0 experience in porting and remastering in HD. They need the extra time to port and it might take forever to do KH2 as well.

I noticed that most ports turned out horrible because they may have been rushed, besides the one done by Bluepoint games. They might not have hired them.

Also if they added 2 then how are they going to release Birth by Bleep? it makes sense to do it this way. Also they are taking the time to add the cut-scenes from the DS game.

Those who are complaining about the split of games in the series need to understand its all about business.

If y'all were in there shoes you all would probably do the same. On top of that they can pace it this way to lead up to a Kingdom Hearts III much smoother.

Also, the team doing this game would probably take a lot lot longer to release the HD collection if they planned on including all the games in the series in HD, considering a lot of them are working on other projects as well.

I'm disappointed not all the games are included as well but this is better then nothing or waiting much longer for all the games to be HD-ified to include in one big bundle.
