Videogames churn out ideas for new technology at an incredible rate. Most involve turning people into gooey substances of varying viscosity, but for every new type of Gauss gun there’s a gadget that’d make our lives easier. Here are the picks of the bunch.

Isn't it really pointless to make an article like this but remaining console-specific? It's not like some consoles can handle certain ideas while others can't

ginganinja4228d ago (Edited 4228d ago )

Given that it's on the site of the UK PS mag why wouldn't, or shouldn't, they ?

You have to think the majority of their audience are going to expect to read it from a Playstation perspective.

makemyteapunk4228d ago

Sony needs to concentrate on improving PSN, its been how many years now and things are either broken(web browser) or still in Beta stage(home).

Seraphemz4228d ago

I browse the internet just fine on the PS3...

I dont have to pay 50 bucks a year to use it, and didnt have to wait for 7 years to get it..

wiiu_peeu4228d ago

web browder is broken? Dude do u even have a ps3? To be honest i use ps3 browser4everything including responding2this comment right now. i watch streaming movies on it via letmewatch this and even porn lol

Dont be a troll man web browder isnt the best but it works fine and psn is a great serviceeee

makemyteapunk4228d ago

Works fine? You must be joking. It crashes every 10 mins, loads of sites dont display properly, its really slow etc etc.

Do you guys even have a PS3? Because saying it works fine is a lie.

How on earth was it trolling what I said? So typical, fanboys cant face the truth so they call people trolls. smh

ginganinja4228d ago

So, in response to an article about having game gadgets (like pipboy or the portal gun) in real life, all you want is a more stable browser?!
Way to think outside the box.

Hicken4228d ago (Edited 4227d ago )

Where are you LevelHead? If I made such a comment- and I wouldn't- you'd be all over it. But such blatant trolling by anybody else on this site barely gets noticed by you.

Do you vote such comments down? Do you even notice them? Given the people you attack- mostly me- and the subject typically involved- mostly Sony- you come off as a closet Sony hater. Yeah, you make a positive comment every now and then, but you can't stand anybody who frequently has good things to say about Sony on a regular basis.

On topic(you see, I can actually do both), I'd take Raiden's suit with the Ghost Recon camouflage and the Portal Gun. Wouldn't really need the rest with those three.

Edit: Oh, I know you're not a moderator, and thank God for that. I'm curious as to whether you're doing your part. You may not know this, but the bubbles a person has gives more or less weight to their votes on such things. There's the CRank everybody can see, and a hidden rank that everybody can't.

And I CAN'T make a big production out of everything, dumbass. I don't have unlimited bubbles. I choose ONE comment I think I really agree with or really disagree with, I respond, and I move on. If the comment I choose to respond to addresses the article in a way I have a problem with(because I don't just agree or disagree wholesale with someone's comment), then I'll respond accordingly. If they DON'T address the article, chances are my comment will not, either.

YOU tack on a response to the article after attacking someone's comment, but not addressing the subject of their comment much at all. That's the difference between us.

Well, it's one difference.

BrutallyBlunt4228d ago

How many times do you need to be told that i am not a moderator? So why don't you just mark it if you feel it's trolling and move on? Instead you always make a big production out of everything. I've never seen anyone as butthurt as you on the forums about the media and about certain members. Take a break kid and ignore this site if you can't conduct yourself in a mature manner. There's no need in mentioning my name in articles, or anyone else that has yet commented.

Still waiting on Konami to put the MGS Collection back on digital stores

Nyxus334d ago

I know right? And rerelease the games for current gen systems while they're at it.

just_looken333d ago

Do not worry they will give use those pichincko remakes for top dollar soon.

Metal gear solid 3 in the fox engine looked/ran amazing but was sealed away :(

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Sarcasm333d ago

I know re-makes and stuff have been played to death this generation.

But damn I wouldn't mind an MGS4 remake

gold_drake333d ago

i played it quite recently and it holds up very well

CantThinkOfAUsername332d ago

It does, but a remake will be available on platforms other than PS3.

itsmebryan333d ago

I thought the series would have sold more over all these years and different releases.

Ready4nxtgen333d ago

Yeah I would have thought over 150 Mil. Something.missing here

Nyxus333d ago

Metal Gear isn't that big, and there hasn't been a new release in years. Also MGS2 and 3 are still missing from digital storefronts.

shinoff2183333d ago

5 mgs games in total if I'm not mistaken. 59 60 million seems about right. Mgs is dope to some of us but it would be hard for a lot of regulars to understand

ChasterMies333d ago

I would love to buy MGS4 but it’s still a PS3 exclusive.

JEECE333d ago

Although there are notable exceptions (GTA, certain first-party Nintendo games, Gran Turismo), as a rule games didn't sell as much in earlier generations as they have in the past few generations. So a lot of PS1-PS2 era titles that are viewed as seminal games didn't actually sell all that much by today's standards (yes, despite the large install bases of those systems lol). I remember a similar surprised reaction happening a few months ago when Square announced the total overall sales of Final Fantasy VII.

Deathdeliverer333d ago

Some of the best fun you can have online was the first metal gear online and to a lesser, but still fun to an extent, MGO2. The magazine, CQC, stealth, and tactical play Vs real players is just a blast. Not to mention playing Snake vs everyone? Amazing. The game will never be the same without Hideo, but Konami can definitely update what’s already there and take my money.

ceyoga333d ago

You wouldn't be talking about the OG MGO that was included with MGS3:S would you? It's rare running into another former player. Those were some of the best memories of any online game I had.

Deathdeliverer333d ago

Yes my man!! That seems like the BEST game that nobody played! Tranquilizer pistol, drag the body to a corner and lay a girly mag right by their head so they wake up and instantly get caught by the mag. You could get real toxic if you wanted at that point, but man that game was incredible! The only thing annoying was that damn Konami ID

The og deus ex is magical. Im also very exited about mass effect legendary edition from the gp. Its next on my playlist never played mass effect game before.

IamTylerDurden1345d ago (Edited 345d ago )

Never played ME? It's imo the greatest trilogy of all-time and perhaps the best setting outside maybe Fallout. Play it. Great DLC as well. In 2 & 3 at least. Skip Andromeda. Also, Human Revolution was great as well even if OG fans claim otherwise.

shinoff2183345d ago

Mass effect 1 was great. I feel they dumbed down alot on the 2nd one and seemed more action like. Mass effect 1 the citadel was an explorable city. Far as I got in Mass effect 2 it was reduced to a location list no traveling through it. I disliked it alot(the citadel) part. I also feel they went more action oriented then rpg

just_looken345d ago

It always makes me mad when you see something you have done in the first mass effect or dragon age can make something change in the 3rd because bioware make 6 games in what 8 years? that did this but today 0 games do this.

I wish we had trilogies today were we can share saves and have multiple endings/path's on all 3 because of choices from anyone of them.

Its so funny being the bad sheparad from one to 3 then the end having just you and joker ha ha yet everyone is like hey your a hero with a 90% casualty rate.

CBaoth344d ago

Fallout can't hold Mass Effect's jockstrap. The one Fallout even in the ballpark is 3, and that's only because the DLC was extremely good. When Ken Rolston was in Bethesda's employment were they good. That's about it. They're now the world's greatest copy/paste developer out there. Bioware at their pinnacle was ten times better a studio than Todd's team. Go look up the games

IamTylerDurden1344d ago

Mass Effect is my favorite, followed by 2 and 3. Yes, ME2 was dumbed down but also refined in terms of polish and accessibility. ME2 had an awesome story, great DLC, and a solid cast. Mordin in particular. It's a great game. Even 3 which was the weakest was still solid imo despite the ending. If u love ME how do u not enjoy all 3?

Fallout is not a better game though FO3 was great. In terms of setting though Fallout is Mt Rushmore. The 50's post apoc setting was brbrilliant. I still put ME setting n lore above but FO is up there with setting.

Man play mass effect, best games ever

Miraak82 345d ago

Xenogears is my fav sci fi rpg

closed_account344d ago

Right? There's a serious lack of classics on this list.

The original 2 Star Oceans. Rogue Galaxy...

IamTylerDurden1344d ago

Rogue Galaxy never got that critical love. Beautiful PS2 game. Was it L5?

closed_account344d ago

@IamTylerDurden1 Yep, Level5. Love their stuff. Dark Cloud 3 please...

Godmars290345d ago

Why aren't there more? A Star Trek RPG for one. Or something with non humanoid aliens?

shinoff2183345d ago

Cause for some damn reason medieval is more popular ugghhh. I'd take some sci fi sh anyway over it. I've said time and time again I hope the elden guys are working on a sci fi type game.

Godmars290345d ago (Edited 345d ago )

Something non-post apocalypse or dystopian. Just world saving. Fighting bad guys while doing good and dealing with ethical/moral/psychological quandaries.

sadraiden344d ago

The reason why fantasy RPGs, and Fantasy as a genre, are more popular than Sci-Fi, is because of the low technology/high magic tropes. If all of your problems can be solved with looking up the answer on a smartphone, well, there's just lower stakes than if a character has to have a sword fight, and climb the tower, and rescue the fair princess and recite the ancient incantation to seal the evil.

Obviously you can have universe ending stakes in Sci-Fi, but that requires abstract reasoning, and an ability to RP in a way that is progressive instead of regressive. Couple that with Sci-Fi games and media generally being faster paced, and you've got a genre that attracts a very specific demographic of gamers.

just_looken345d ago

or go crazy and make a starship troopers rpg can you survive the bug fight?

The animated show was great showed what someone can do with the lore.

Fist4achin344d ago

A Starship Troopers game as a real time strategy like the command and conquer series would be awesome.

just_looken344d ago

@fist

We have that today but its a small team with a smal budget
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Its not a major rts sadly but a start

jznrpg345d ago

I really hope Naughty Dog is doing a Sci-Fi game. As a lover all most things RPG I would love to see Naughty Dog quality in an RPG.

porkChop345d ago

They could do some really great stuff with sci-fi. The sense of grand adventure of Uncharted, but also with the stealth and crafting of The Last of Us. Different planets, creative alien races, collecting junk to craft repairs and upgrades for your ship and weapons, etc.

shinoff2183345d ago

Porkchop

Your getting me excited for something that doesn't exist. Damn

shinoff2183345d ago

He'll yea , hope we here something about that if they are. I'm not to worried about factions at all

just_looken345d ago

If it was the old naughty dog i would want that the new naughty dog no thanks.

IamTylerDurden1344d ago (Edited 344d ago )

TLOU2 is the finest game ND has made. U4 was fantastic. New ND is a more impressive ND. I don't rate Crash n Jak like i do Uncharted and TLOU. Even Uncharted 1 and 3 were not as well crafted as TLOU, TLOU2, U4 imo. Idc if ppl troll TLOU2, most ppl are clueless, that game was incredibly impressive.

TLOU2 combat, visuals, and acting were the best of the genre. I found the story deeper and more profound than most but it's subjective. The level design was excellent also. The score. Audio. Animation. It was a masterpiece to me. The rope physics, detail. TLOU2 deserved Elden Ring scores and ER deserved TLOU2 scores. If any game deserved 97 in recent years it's TLOU2. Best game i ever played and if ppl come with Abby bs i already know it's not worth it. Those who call TLOU2 trash are foolish. Just look at it running...

Kojima looks back on Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes on its 9th anniversary

Hideo Kojima: "After the launch, many people seemed to expect GZ to be a full game."

metalgearinformer.com
-Foxtrot391d ago

People would have gotten “your intention” if you stated it from the beginning but people didn’t want smaller episode like MGS games.

He should have just focused on MGSV and work Ground Zeroes into that game instead

I_am_Batman391d ago

I don't remember there being confusion over Ground Zeroes being a full game. But then again I was just starting to catch up on the MGS series as a whole at that point so I might've not paid enough attention or simply have forgotten that there was confusion about it. I bet the whole Moby Dick Studios thing didn't help the casual observer understand what the hell was going on though.

I only got both MGSV games when Phantom Pain was already out and I kinda agree that it probably would've sucked if I had to wait one and a half years to pay The Phantom Pain after Ground Zeroes.

jambola391d ago

I'm sorry what now?
Who expected that?
If it was meant to be episodic or an experiment for that, the price should / would have reflected that

MadLad391d ago (Edited 391d ago )

To be fair, there really wasn't enough content to actually justify even the smaller price tag. It was still half the cost of a full game, yet a 20th of the content.

I can't stand these paid glorified demos.

CrimsonWing69391d ago

Honestly, it was basically similar to the FF15 Duscae demo. My theory is he was taking too damn long to make a game and Konami was like, “Sell what you got!” It just has kind of a scummy corporate “let’s sell this demo for half the price of a full game,” feel to it.

That’s just my take on it. I love Kojima and I love the MGS series, but this and 5 were the biggest let downs, ever. Clearly unfinished work forced out because, in Konami’s defense, Kojima was going over budget and taking forever on the project.

MIDGETonSTILTS17391d ago

Lol, I loved Ground Zeroes, but releasing that level at $40 during a dryspell for games at the onset of the new gen was an obvious cash grab.

I handed over my money happily, but plenty of non-diehard fans were understandably letdown by the scale of what $40 bought them.

Chocoburger391d ago

The price was originally $40 for the physical PS4 and XBO versions, but due to controversy it dropped down to $30 before launch. And as much as I love GZ, and even bought it twice, I do agree that $30 was too much. It should have launched at $20.

https://kotaku.com/konami-c...

staticall391d ago

I don't know how about anyone else. But i've bought it for $20 1 week after release (or $15, don't remember the exact exchange rate) and spent 24 hours beating every mission and getting all the steam achievements. I was 100% aware what the game was about beforehand though and i did enjoy every second of it. I knew it was a work in progress and it was probably the best and less restrictive game i've played in a long time (and controls were just perfect).

Even previous MGS games didn't gave me that much freedom as Ground Zeroes did.
Love stealth? Got you covered.
Want to speedrun? Here's the timer.
Wanna kill everyone? No problem, grab that AK then and let's party.
Wanna cause chaos? Just tell Pequod where to land.
Love to drive? Then go ahead.
Miss Raiden? Then play as him.

I wish they would continue MGSV, finish remaining chapters and add more missions as DLCs, there was SO many options... A poor man still can dream...
