Some good games on this list

Bioshock
Enslaved: Odyssey to the west
Vanquish

toxic-inferno4239d ago

Bioshock is certainly the highlight of this list, for me anyway. Honestly one of the best game's I've ever played, and I bought it for next to nothing!

FarCryLover1824238d ago

It is pretty good, but if it's one of the best games that you've ever played, I bet you wish that you got it when it came out in 2007 and paid full price instead of waiting a few years...if you did get it for almost next to nothing.

cruxito4238d ago

Bioshock was a big Sleeper for me, i was so immersed in the world of Rapture, i really loved that game. Vanquish maaan people complaing about not new IP but then when somehting comes out people jsut dont buy it, vanquish was fun.

Irishguy954238d ago

Vanquish was awesome, i'm glad MGRising is bringing back some things I loved about it.

toxic-inferno4238d ago

@ FarCryLover182

Oddly enough, I didn't choose to wait a few years in the hope of it coming down in price. I was really put off by the demo at release (it doesn't really give you an idea of the story, which is key to Bioshock, nor does it let you really experiment with combat methods), and so didn't bother with the game until about 18 months ago.

Vanquish was pretty good, I like how you could slide for a jillion miles for some reason.

Relientk774238d ago

Yea the game had some really cool stuff

Welshy4238d ago

I know it's not on the list, but i picked up Dark Sector for £6 at the weekend, and man do i love that game.

I remember when it first came out, i took a chance on it and just bought it off the shelf without knowing anything about it, was totally blown away.

I love finding great title you sold/never got round to for dirt cheap and just have a blast.

A part of me thinks gaming that way all the time would be great, pay hardly any money and don't suffer any disappointment from hype that often builds too much on a title at first release then let's you down.

cruxito4238d ago

yuuuup, it has a good campaign, worth every penny i paid for it. I mean Dantes Inferno was a mess to begin with, and sold 5 times the amount that shouldnt have had. DMC4 terrible game but sells proved otherwise that it was good entry lol.

showtimefolks4238d ago

Bioshock
Vanquish
Enslaved

All 3 must play for all gamers

Not sure about Dante inferno heard it has a lot of camera issues for anyone that has played it could you please give quick yes or not and why to play or not to play

Thanks I don't trust reviewers so fellow gamers to rescue

Laxman4238d ago

Id say yes for Dante's Inferno.

It has a pretty great storyline if you're interested in the whole heaven/hell thing, and the enemey and Hell desings are awesome! Some of the demons are wonderfully realised.

Good combat if you dont mind button mashing (similar to God of War, DMC etc.).

Very mature game, in essentially every sense.

Its not game changing for the genre, but its definitely entertaining and memorable.

showtimefolks4238d ago

Thank you will pick it up soon

Kurt Russell4238d ago

Dantes is a fun hack and slash romp. Excellent combat, but not the most replayable game.

Lovable4238d ago

Rainbow Moon! People this is ONLY $15 dollars, but it beats any of those $60 dollars game. This is an amazing game!!!

stuntman_mike4238d ago

@Relientk77

those 3 are some of my favorite games too,
I thought Enslaved was awesome and love vanquish. bioshocks atmosphere was awesome too and the design of the city was excellent cant wait for infinite.

Relientk774238d ago

Bioshock Infinite looks awesome

prototypeknuckles4239d ago

These are all good games(except for enslaved), and theryer dirt cheap

Laxman4238d ago

Enslaved is one of the very best on the list.

4238d ago
Godmars2904239d ago

Thing is the reason they're at amazing prices is because they didn't get the reception - the initial sales - which they probably deserved.

Except maybe for Bioshock.

Roccetarius4238d ago

Well, Enslaved got the sales it deserved.

Godmars2904238d ago

I don't think it was a bad game persay, but more and more I'm of the opinion that Team Ninja has too much of an ego. Even with Heavenly Sword they weren't simply making a game but changing how they'd be made. It was the same with Enslaved and we're seeing it yet again with DmC.

They really need to learn some humility and stop thinking they're all that, because they're not.

Rip-Ridah4238d ago

@Godmars290

Just so we're clear, Team Ninja is the development team behind the Ninja Gaiden/Dead or Alive series. Ninja Theory is responsible for the 2007 Heavenly Sword & more recent Enslaved games. I know, I know...Ninjas everywhere these days!

Nercay4239d ago

@Godmars290 That's true, it's sad that these games didn't get the sales they deserved but i guess that will always be the case with games! :(

wishingW3L4239d ago

if only Vanquish would have been 60 frames the slow-mo effect would have looked way cooler. ;(

pixelsword4238d ago (Edited 4238d ago )

Matrix effect. Very nice.

Ratchet and Clank and Resistance 1 & 2 had a 60fps slowdown (clank + Deadeye hyperfocus) and it was beautiful.

Mugen Souls Retro Review – Sexy Demon Space Adventure

Gary Green said: We have a juxtaposition of 2D and 3D visuals, flashy turn-based combat, quirky anime characters with cheeky dialogue with plenty of partial nudity; Yes, this is a Compile Heart JRPG. Whilst the engine is borrowed from Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2, Mugen Souls is more of a Disgaea spin-off. It’s not a strategy RPG as such, it merely sits within Disgaea’s ever-expanding universe (Multiverse? Netherverse? Your guess is as good as mine). You won’t find cameos though, since Mugen Souls is a franchise which aims to stand on its own two feet.

Looking Back At 2008, An Unbelievably Incredible Year Of Video Game Releases

Huzaifa from eXputer: "2008 was home to the likes of Call of Duty: World at War, Dead Space, GTA 4, Far Cry 2, Left 4 Dead, and many other hits, which is outright remarkable."

CrimsonWing697h ago

I don’t think anything can compare to 2023

lucasnooker7h ago

1998 - the best year in gaming! Metal gear solid, crash bandicoot 3, medievil, half life, ocarina of time, thief, tenchu, resident evil 2, Spyro, tomb raider 3, oddworld abes exodus, banjo kazooie.

It was a different breed of a gaming era. You’ll never understand what it was like back then. The aura of gaming, it was different!

KyRo6h ago(Edited 6h ago)

I second this. Gaming was a lot more varied and fun than it is today. I'm 35 so getting on compared to some here but I got to see all the changes from NES up to now but I've never felt so disappointed in any generation than I have this current gen. I was expecting more from this generation rather than prettier versions of games that came before it. Game mechanics have become so refined that alot of games feel the same and has done for a while now.

Maybe it's time to have a break for a while. I love gaming but I don't feel I get much fun in the traditional sense out of it anymore.

CrimsonWing696h ago(Edited 6h ago)

Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil 2, Abe’s Exodus, and Ocarina of Time are the only things from that list that I liked.

Here’s the 2023 game releases that I personally liked… and big releases that I didn’t care for:

- Dead Space Remake
- Wo Long Dynatsy
- Resident Evil 4 Remake
- Diablo 4
- Fire Emblem Engage
- Hogwarts Legcay
- Street Fighter 6
- Hi-Fi Rush
- Like a Dragon: Ishin
- Octopath Traveler 2
- Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters
- Final Fanatsy XVI (actually ended up not liking this, but it was still a big deal release)
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon
- Lies of P
- Mortal Kombat 1
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
- Starfield (Ended up hating this one, but big release)
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder
- Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (I’m an old-school Zelda fan, but didn’t really enjoy this game)
- Alan Wake 2

I mean, honestly I’ve never seen a year of major IP releases like that, ever.

Profchaos3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Isn't it just a generational thing realistically.

I've been gaming since way back and I some of my favourite games go as far back as the late 80s for me each generation has a year or two of game changing releases one after another before an inevitable dry spell.

I kind of agree gaming had a different feel games hit different because we didn't have the internet nothing got spoiled and you really had to put in the effort to beat a puzzle which could set entire groups of people looking for a solution. But most importantly games were experimental and not as cookie cutter as today even basics like controls were not universal today r2 is shoot l2 is ads garunteed you can't deviate from that in a shooter back then it could of been square, R1 or R1 and circle nothing was standard.

But as time moves on a new generation picks up their controller they are going to be interested in different things that PS1 demo disc with the t Rex blew our primitive 16 bit brains back on launch but to kids today it's laughable.
The new gen of kids coming into to hobby seem to value different things to us there seems to be a huge focus on online play, streamers, gaming personalities, and social experiences, convience of digital downloads. To me I value none of that but that's ok like my parents not liking the band's I would listen to its just the natural cycle.

6 Fun Games Where You Actually Play As The Bad Guy

While the mainstream media always sees things turning in favor of the hero, here are 6 games that own being a bad guy.

Profchaos12h ago

Pretty much all of these games listed are based around a morality system you don't have to be bad and you don't have to be good.

It seems to have left out some real amazing games like red dead redemption 1/2,ass effect and true crime la/ny

Tacoboto12h ago

Armored Core VI?

Ok, I'm really missing something here. Just beat chapter 3 earlier this evening, unlocked A-rank Arena fights. I'm not seeing or sensing any branching paths or morality system and I've done every side mission and arena fight available to me up to that fight.

Is something big coming soon to branch the story?

banger8811h ago

No mention of Grand Theft Auto? Saints Row (original trilogy), Manhunt? Also The Suffering (depending on the ending you get).

ChasterMies1h ago

Trevor in GTA 6 is a sadist and psychopath who dabbles in cannibalism. Should be top of the list. These game “news” sites should hire people that know games.
