Black Mesa Review | BagOfGames.com

Black Mesa is a total conversion modification for the Source engine that faithfully recreates and even improves upon one of the most influential games of all time, Half-life.

The most obvious improvement is in visuals, Black Mesa looks and feels like we imagine Half-life looked like.

It's excellent, the wait was worth it.

It's re-made HL1....I don't really think that needs any reviews or introduction. Unless they majorly screwed something up, it speaks for itself.

@SilentNegotiator

While you're right, the amount of detail in the level design is fantastic. This is why it goes beyond my expectations. Now I know what they were doing for 8 years lol.

Been playing this today and the nostalgia is brilliant. I forgot how much I hate those crab things.

For something that's free its amazing, better than the hd ports as those are just improved resolutions for the most part.

Best. Mod. Ever.

Now I just hope the last parts of the game doesn't take another 8 years to finish ;)

Plagasx4238d ago (Edited 4238d ago )

Actually, it's already finished.

"Well, mostly done; as we told you last week, the mod won't contain the entire original game"

From what your article from Kotaku says the part thats on the disk is what we have already, the last sections including xen still have a while to go.

Loving this mod. What's the chances of opposing force source?

Slugg3r4238d ago

Taking in account the amount of time it took them to make this one, I'd say the chances are pretty slim for them to hop on yet another HL remaking process. Would love Opposing Force Source though, but for now I'll just keep on enjoying the Black mesa, hoping HL3 will be announced someday...

Nice!! This wouldn't happen on any other platform for free!

Valve Just Patched A Two-Decade Old Bug In Half Life

Been replaying this on my steam deck now that it's been updated with modern controls and is now fully verified. Have to say I'm surprised to see how well it holds up. Was a great game in 1998 and it's still a great game 25 years on.
