Gamers bombard Platinum Games with hate-filled messages over Bayonetta 2 on Wii U

The problem is that people do not want to pay $350 dollar and then $60 for playing Bayonetta. They want their favourite game sequel to be released on the console they have already invested in. People do not have the money to waste on a whole console for playing a single game. That is why they are feeling angry that they are being blackmailed into buying a console IF they want to play a sequel to their favourite game. It is not fanboyism, loyalty or being butt-hurt. Nobody would have been angry if the game was announced for all platforms including the WiiU.

Bro, the scenario you are presenting is a different one. When a new generation starts all of the franchises make the shift and people buy the new console to enjoy ALL of their favourite franchises in neg-gen iteration and not just one. The old consoles have become outdated and are being abandoned so their is no option but to move on. In the current scenario the PS360 are still current-gen with comparable hardware performance to the WiiU. All the of the franchises still exist on them with multiplatform games existing among the three consoles. Moreover, Bayonetta was never released on the Wii and suddenly making the game exclusive to the WiiU is very shocking for the fans. I will give you an example: What if the next flagship game in the Legend of Zelda series suddenly was announced for PS360 while leaving out the Nintendo console? Does'nt that sounds outrageous to you? It is the same case with Bayonetta.

What's all this fud that WiiU is comparable to PS3/360? We don't even know the CPU clockspeeds, or what the exact GPU is inside the WiiU. So how can gamers be outrage over Bayonetta? Perhaps Bayonetta is a next gen game that the PS3/360 are to weak to run due to the less ram available? If PG had released this on all platforms, people would have still accused them of dumbing down the PS3/360 versions.

Bayonetta was doomed from the beginning. It was mistakenly designed as an Xbox 360 exclusive, but they didn't sell it to Microsoft as an exclusive; it was down-hill ever since.

It was hack-n-slash game, designed to appeal to people who liked Devil May Cry, that was broken and unplayable on PS3, where all the DMC fans are. On top of that, they refused to cash in on the 360 fanboyism by making it 360 exclusive. The broken, PS3 version still sold more copies than the immaculate, X360 version. Which means that over half the people who bought it got a game that was literally unplayable. Bayonetta crapped on the only market it had. I'm not surprised that Sega cancelled it, they probably saw no place to go with it.

Nintendo saved Bayonetta 2. But Bayonetta has no fans on Nintendo platforms. But maybe the Nintendo faithful will like it.

Platinum got a publisher on a canned game, this has nothing to do with limited by hardware. It was to be expected that it would cause a division in the fans, some people can't afford to spend $300 on a system.

But alas, they needed something, cause Sega was not going to publish it, so it is much like MGR, without Plat, we would not be getting the game.

However, if the game sells well, we might see it ported to the other systems later. Much like NG with the Sigma games.

Most likely not... Apparently, Nintendo is the publisher, so we will not be seeing it on other systems. Sega chose not to publish the sequel, Nintendo stepped in. Although I suppose it is possible that we could see it come out as "Bayonetta Sigma" type of thing (as you pointed out in regard to Ninja Gaiden), it is probably not going to happen. But, who the hell knows. :)

DaThreats made a good point. Bayonetta 2 on the Wii-U may quell the "it is as powerful as PS3/360" rumors everybody is so hell bent believing despite the evidence to the contrary. The real reason why people are so upset because it is the one release game that would make people consider the Wii-U to be a contender for "next-gen".

As DaThreats mentioned, it has already a superior GPU with 1GB RAM, this is a far cry that puts this console over the edge among the PS3/360 allowing for more visual effects/cues that the current-gen console are unable to replicate in a solid 60fps.

With said title being exclusive, Platinum Games will be able to directly harness the next gen graphical and technical capability of the Nintendo Wii U entertainment system tablet control functions. There's a difference between 120 million and a potential 120 million. Bayonetta didn't sell a fantastic amount (2 million?). Decent enough, but not enough to inform the people at the Guinness World Records.

On the other hand, being published by Nintendo on a Nintendo console at the beginning of its lifespan (during which core gamers will be desperate for core experiences) is likely to garner much more interest from people. On PS3/360 it'd sell to people who loved Bayonetta and probably not many others, especially when you consider the competition (including Revengeance, Platinum's own game). On Wii U it has a much better chance of finding a new group of people, while also being readily available to the old fans who invest in the Wii U.

Not just that, but didn't the PS3 version look and run crappy compared to the 360 version? So most people who were remotely interested got the 360 version which practically limited the install base anyway. That and the 360 is dead in Japan.

Who has taken anything away? They've never bought the sequel and had it taken away and nobody is stopping them from buying the sequel. It'll be fully available on a console that will be in decent supply. More than that, nothing is taken away from the original game.

It's completely understandable. They paid for a single game they enjoyed, and eagerly awaited a sequel, which is entirely possible on whatever system they played the original on.

Now, if they want to play the sequel, they will have to buy a brand new system which may not have ANYTHING else they'd want to play on it. That's a far bigger difference than if it had gone exclusive on a current gen console: at least then, there are massive libraries for each of the systems that can help justify a purchase. The Wii U just won't be able to say the same thing.

It's not the same as a multiplat going exclusive, like a lot of people are wanting to say. That situation can have its own drawbacks(see FF XIII), but at least the original fanbase still gets to play the game.

A multiplat going exclusive completely shuts out the fans of one or more systems. It's natural for those fans to be upset. They're getting mad at the wrong people, though.

Sega screwed everything up. They had somebody else develop the PS3 version of the game, causing it to suck quite a bit(and even went as far as saying they weren't going to patch it at one point, if I remember correctly), and even decided to drop the sequel.

Well, there's nothing that can really be done, unless Nintendo is feeling generous, but to buy a Wii U. Still, I'm waiting to see more games that tickle my fancy.

I'm someone who loved Bayonetta, can't wait to play 2, and has no intention of purchasing a Wii U until at least year after launch.

That being said, I am honestly really glad to see Nintendo making an effort here to pull in good third party exclusives. Not to downplay the Wii, but I would love to see Nintendo get back in the game and give Sony and Microsoft some real competition.

I'm all for nintendo gaining hardcore fans and games but not this way. People argued that they want more fresh exclusive IP's not to steal a sequel from 2 million users who supported the first game. Economy is tough these days man and honestly not everyone can be affording a new console to play 1 sequel they enjoyed. And it's kind of a stab to the back to the people who supported the first one and gave platinumgames the recognition they need.

Nintendo needs new IP's to be winning people over to their console not sequels that have been made already on different platforms. These aren't fanboys raging about this but fans of the game and honestly I would be too if I was really hooked onto this game.

Imagine if Gears of war 4 a third party exclusive was being announced only for the PS3. Would the 360 fanboys get ticked off? Of course they will because they support epic. They take a ton of flack for their lack of core games, they were presented with the opportunity to grab an embattled core title and they seized it.
I won't buy a Wii U for that one game, but more power to them.

However, I'm a bit disappointed by PG, because I thought they said they wouldn't do straight sequels, and if there was a successor to Bayonetta, it would be a spinoff with significant differences in concept and characters.
Kind of like MadWorld followed by Anarchy Reigns.
We'll see how it turns out, but B2 does look more like a straight sequel.

People who loved the first game on 360/PS3 have to buy an entire new platform to play a sequel to a game they so loved. There are some who don't want to be forced to buy a platform they may not even want for the sequel.

People who buy a Wii U and never played the first might even be lost.

Its funny but why would you want to put a sequel to a game as a launch title. I would have released Bayonetta 1 then added Bayonetta 2 as a title and release it at the same time as the PS3 and 360 copies of the sequel.

Platinum isnt to blame. Sega is. They dropped the best ip they released in decades, and still release shitty sonic games.
NG and DMC are going downhill and Bayonetta was already, IMO, the best action game on the market. Not making a sequel would be an insult to action gamers in general. Nintendo did the smart move and saved an amazing franchise.
The problem is, as much as i LOVED the first game, im not buying an console just to play the sequel, and most fell the same. The games fanbase is composed of PS3/360 owners, and most of them have no interest on the wiiU. im as frustrated as everyone else, but if enyone is to blame, thats SEGA.
