The annihilation of mandatory installs is a step in the right direction for the next generation of Elite gaming. Hopefully never again will we the consumer pop in an awarding gaming experience just to be intercepted by a long loading bar across the screen for an install. It seems that the Nintendo Wii U entertainment system is more powerful than I had imagined for a home console experience.

We should all be honored. The current generation of consoles have done an amazing job, lasting longer than any of us could have expected. This year marks a new era of gaming. And thanks to the hard workers employed at Nintendo HQ we can leave mandatory installs in the past.

Have a blessed day and happy gaming.

I read your last comment in another pet. You def pr. lol

jaosobno4236d ago (Edited 4236d ago )

Jesus, that was some lame (and obvious) PR.

And in another news (from article):

"whopping 1GB" --> LOL

ChickeyCantor4236d ago

Mind you, it's game dedicated. No OS sucking memory away.

jaosobno4236d ago (Edited 4236d ago )

@Sidar, so? You expect to see full HD, tesselation, advanced physics, etc. on 1GB of shared memory?

WiiU will do 720p with present gen graphics for a next gen price.

Sashamaz4236d ago

SO does that mean no digital purchases for the wii u, DLC, Full games, Indie games etc?

WiiUalpha4236d ago

Only if you cant figure out how to hook a USB hard drive.

chukamachine4236d ago

How much do ninty pay U/s

Are you just on a short term contract?

DivineAssault 4236d ago

not impressed.. No games included, no new game announcements, little to no internal memory.. We will see i guess but im not buying into this.. $300 is too much when u gotta buy more memory & a pro controller

Gemmol4236d ago

that is for later annoucement stop being a jerk man, even people with commonesense know the game annoucement is for later

WiiUalpha4236d ago (Edited 4236d ago )

Wii Sports was not a pack in game in Japan. It may come with the console in the US.

You seem to be very unhappy judging by your posts here and in the specs article. Why not just skip it? Beats being upset over trivial things

SSJBen4236d ago (Edited 4236d ago )

Something wrong with the article. Iwata never said during the conference that the 25GB disc they are using is Blu-Ray, we only assume it is simply because of the identical size.
Maybe Iwata didn't want to mention Blu-Ray because of... you-know-who. But kinda perplexing that he wouldn't mention it, don't you think?

PirateThom4236d ago

The GameCube and Wii discs are based off DVD tech, but with video function disabled to avoid playing heavy licence costs, the same with this, it will run the same tech as Blu-ray but likely have the video playback disabled to reduce the licence costs.

disgaeapuchi4236d ago

This. From what I understand it's basically optical Blu Ray, just as Wii discs were optical DVDs.

If the next xbox and PS4 have SATA 3 / 6GB/s with USB3.0 and a fast DVD / BlueRay drive with a fast HDD or SSD then I see no problem with optional installs especially if the HDD or SSD is big enough. A 2TB Sata 3.0 / 6GB/s HDD is fast these days and isn't very expensive and with Sony and Microsoft buying in bulk they will get a good discount which would be passed onto the customer. A fast HDD beats any form of fast disk at loading times any day and a SATA 3.0 SSD anhialates the loading speed of a SATA 3.0 HDD and fast DVD / Blue Ray drive combined.

I say instead of making the install mandatory , make it optional and it will keep everybody happy. I prefer have the game on my HDD any day for the shorter loading speeds and less noise of not having a disk spinning.
