"Rodney Greenblat created the visual style for PaRappa the Rapper (PS1), UmJammer Lammy (PS1), PaRappa the Rapper (PS2), and Major Minor’s Majestic March (Wii). Masaya Matsuura asked Rodney Greenblat to design and create all of the iconic characters in these games. Rodney Greenblat was also involved on the anime series for PaRappa the Rapper.", writes NotEnoughShaders.
PlayStation Blog Europe: "One of gaming’s most beloved icons is a lovestruck rapping dog who’s just gotta believe. PaRappa the Rapper has featured in his own anime series, made a cameo in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, and he’s about to be remastered for PS4. And there, along with his pals, Chop Chop Master Onion, Prince Fleaswallow, Sunny Funny and everyone, he looks as fresh as ever."
This was the first game my mom ever played with my brother and me and we loved it. Can't wait for the remaster to hit
PaRappa the Rapper established the rhythm genre and was an early example of Sony’s willingness to take creative risks. [PlayStation Lifestyle] takes a look at what made him so special.
Destructoid:
Artist Rodney Greenblat, best known for his character designs for PaRappa the Rapper and UmJammer Lammy, recently said in an interview that he is "not so happy" about our favorite rapping dog being in a battle game filled with weapons.
To bad. He'll keep believin whether hes rapping or beating the hell out of Kratos or Ratchet and Clank!
Parappa ena magas, means he is a pimp in Greek. Anybody who takes random characters in a fun smash bros type of game and doesn't get the fun needs to be quiet.
Good interview >.>
Sort of off topic but im really tired of people saying the music game genre is dead though lol. It's absolutely not. There's lots of dancing games, weekly Rock Band DLC, heck - a new Rock Band game JUST came out 2 weeks ago and it's insanely good. Not to mention Rock Band World just recently launched. Then there's RockSmith, which is everywhere, and also just got a giant "Bass" add-on, as well as weekly DLC.
Its not like there's no money for music game developers. I think PaRappa would do just fine, personally...
The music genre will come back in full force some day.
For now, I'm content to play rhythm platform games. Beat Trip Runner is one of my favorite games in the last 5 years. I got to play Runner 2 at PAX and it was awesome. Then there's the rhythm levels in Rayman Legends. Can't wait for that :-D
