Is the grass greener on the other side? Having put up with the Xbox for many years now, I’m starting to wonder whether I should have kept my temper, and my patience, in check and held out for the arrival of the Playstation 3.

Personally i like how the ps3 acts as a home multi-device such as a PC. 500gb HDD check, movie/porn downloading check, blu-ray check, battery-less controller check, hooked up to my 7.2 muteki surround sound and LG tv check, link blutooth to my phone check, free gaming and downloading themes on websites check. Has so many features its unreal, and im not even trolling its just so easy to point out all the bonuses i got with my ps3. All those dont even scratch the surface :D

Takemymoney's use of the term "core gamer" doesn't make sense to me.

when i think of "core gamer" i think of people who are competitive and take gaming seriously. to me, nothing offers a hardcore, competitive gaming experience on consoles like gears of war and halo.

games like uncharted and last of us are high quality games, but i don't consider them games that appeal to the "core" as they can have a very broad appeal to anyone who wants a story driven game.

TBH, the best experience to appeal to the "core" is probably on PC. games like TF2, CS, Battlefield, etc..

Basically what i'm saying is that the definition of the term "core" can be so broadly interpreted that it's just a stupid choice of words.

@below: Lets look at the word "core." it means the central part. the origin of the whole. so if we look at gamers in general, we're talking about the entire community. at the core, there is a group of people who take it seriously, experience as much as possible, have probably been doing it the longest.

To me, that is what comes to mind when we use that word. not the mainstream. not the people who do it occasionally. the "core" would be the people who upgrade their pc every year to the latest video cards just so they can experience the best gaming has to offer. so to say "i prefer ps as a core gamer," sounds like you think the core of gaming exists on PS which couldn't be further from the truth. the truth is that if you are a core gamer, you will seek out the best experiences everywhere and not just limit yourself to story driven experiences or puzzles or rts or whatever.

i don't take issue with someone saying a core gamer would want to play a game like The Last of Us. I take issue with someone saying a core gamer would favor the ps3. there is no one place for a core gamer to reside. and if there were, it would be on PC.

i think it's safe to say we can all at least agree on one thing. the core gamer isn't on the Wii.

By "as a core gamer" I think he is referring to his "core" preference of games.

When I think of "core" gaming (from an individual standpoint) it means the sum of the genres that appeal to you. So in this sense the system which has a broader and larger selection that interests you is your core system. Though, this means the definition is subjective to each person's preferences.

If you think of "core" gaming from a larger group, it would (in my opinion) mean what group of genres are most popular on a given system for the majority of that system's owners. An example would be the trend of FPS's on 360 or Fighting games on the PS3. These are over simplified examples, but they should help paint a picture so to speak.

In the end, what is a "core gamer" really? We'll it depends on who's perspective your looking from, the individual, the publisher, the developer, or the game console manufacturer. There isn't just one type.

I believe core gamer means someone who has an insane habit of playing all the games he/she can regardless of which console they own and regardless if they play competitively or solo. They more than likely have more than one console hooked up to a single television (including older generation tech), and have a large back log of games that have never been opened just in case a dry spell comes along. Exactly, although hardcore may be hard to define, we can look at the direct oposite "casual" to define that a hardcore gamer is the person who spends a lot of time playing. It has nothing to do with where or what you play, but with how much you apply yourself to it. If you game a lot, be welcome to the club.

I bought 360 at launch, a Wii at launch and my PS3 around the Slim launch and own every game he says he 'watched on Youtube' plus plenty more gems that he didn't mention.

But, not one game experience on the PS3 or the Wii, makes me regret one second of gaming on the the 360.

Not one free minute on PSN makes me regret ANY second playing the 360 over Xbox Live with my Gold subscription.

Absolutely love Naughty Dog and Uncharted, but that doesn't take away from being a Hige Gears fan.

Loved the Heavy Rain experience, but loved every second of Alan Wake as well.

HUGE Halo fan and feel that what Bungie has done in the multiplayer realm still hasn't been topped this gen, but I'm not going to front on Killzone 2 & 3 and can't wait for the first game to get the HD treatment.

I salute the actual gamers who support gaming regardless of the sysyem because they love this hobby and not because it's just material for the usual elitists and haters.

Very well said. I also have all three consoles, and enjoy each one of them in different ways. Each one provides me with entertainment, that doesnt make regret owning any of the other consoles. I would honestly be hard pressed to say which one is my favorite if I was forced to answer that question.

This is my opinion, but as a gamer who has had all 3 consoles, I have to say the PS3 is my preferred gaming machine.

If I had to rank them it would be:

1. PS3: 8.8 / 10
2. Xbox 360: 8.4 / 10
3. Wii: 7.6 / 10

The Wii has Nintendo's great first party, but good third party support is hard to come by and online is the weakest of the three.

Xbox has great third party support, the best online service and great multimedia capabilities. But it's first party needs more exclusives and variety and XBL should be free seeing out PS3, Nintendo, and PC are all free. It's like paying for the other half of your game, and paying to access services (Facebook) / paid services (Netflix) that are free on your PC, PS3, and Wii.

Sony has the best first party support IMO, great third party support, and a solid online offering almost comparable to XBL and arguably better with PS+, blu ray . Sony's marketing team are letting the system down, and the community isn't as outspoken in the world (promoting Sony's amazing first party line-up of games) as they are online.

gaming (for me) is more than just buying a console and its games. That is the simplistic view of it. Its partly about experiences that differs from each other. You are not obligated to stick to one system just because you bought into it first.

I will start off a console gen with one platform but somewhere down the line I get the others as well. I enjoy gaming too much to be faithful to one platform. Im a console gigolo.

darth72 - good point, and it was a trick I missed when my 2nd 360 got the RROD and I needed to get a new one (just went out of warranty) - I should have used that as a convenient excuse to switch but as it happens there was a 360 going cheap where my wife worked (her colleague won it in a competition) so I felt compelled to carry on.

agreed. if you like games enough you find the income to buy both. problem solved. thats what ive been doing as long as ive been able to work ( well i bought all three from the last two gens and will continue to do so ).

i primarily play on 360 becuase i like the user interface far more, the controller too, and most of my friends have 360's. if i could only choose one though, it would still be my 360 for those same three reasons. they are big to me. would i miss out on a few exclusives, yeah but the xbla is nice, they still get some great exclusives like halo and gears ( when they are good which is liek every other game ), and live is still better ( not a better value but functionality is much better ). lastly, most fo the games i truly love are 3rd party anyway so i wouldnt miss much. the last ratchet blew chunks, the next one looks like it will too. uncharted is possibly the most over rated franchise ever ( its good but not great ), lbp sucks, i didnt care for metal gear 4, dont care for killzone, demon souls would have been sorely missed but dark souls came to 360, mag sucked, socom sucked, heavy rain would have been missed. god of war was just okay, not as good as the first two, id have been okay with missing it ( enjoyed dantes inferno and darksiders and even dmc4 far more ) and lastly.......last of us, that one i may have missed ( but wont and will buy day one cuase it looks excellent )

Game consoles are supposed to be for games. When a company chooses to put its resources in making timed-exclusive content over making new IPs and exclusive games (not content), then something is wrong as well.

Sony DID start off slow. But, they've learned a LOT this generation. Expect a PS4 that's packed full of all the network features it was missing (There are a total of 2 things: Cross Game Chat and a Party system). It will be relatively cheap ($399 or so) at launch. It will have a slew of games at launch (just like the PS Vita). etc. etc. etc.

Sony will not make the same mistakes it made this generation. It's clear they learned a lot just based on the Vita's launch.

Sounds to me that it works like this.

If you like shooters or playing on line then Xbox is the one.

If you like a selection of games and enjoy single player then your better off with Playstation.

For the sake of this argument, if you like games, then you really need a PS3 because that has nearly all the games Xbox has, the on line play for free and all the extra IPs you wouldn't get on xbox.

i agree all 3 id things that were wrong and right, but i also think and hope each one learned from their own mistakes and from other's to make their future products better.

I think the expections on PS3 were unfair because everyone expected PS2 all over again but i think sony had gotten a bigger head and thought they were above others so it was a good wake up call. But since 2007-2008 in my opinion they have had more support for core gamers than either Nintendo or MS.

let's see what wii-u does right at launch one thing i am looking forward to seeing is what have they learned from MS and Sony about launching a user friendly online service, we all know it took some time for PSN to improve and i hope we won't have to go though the same thing with wii-u online store.

I could care less what fanboys think. If you believe like I do as a multi console owner tbat the 360 is the best then you will be crucified on n4g as its more or less a ps3 fansite. All you have to do is goto all to get your ps3 news which tells you something right there and then look at the agrees vs disagrees to pro xbox vs pro sony. Take my comment for instance as it will be disagreed with and hated as its not pro sony. The 360 is by far imo the best console of the three by far as I have said before the ps3 is a mess as sony did not expect online to be big and tacked everything on as a afterthought as no respictable company would intentially design a video game system to be all over the place with partial game installs, No cohesiveness with games to work with online just left up to devs, copied and added trophies late and still have a horrible communication system and slow downloads for a system that requires them everytime you turn it on. I am super excited about being able to play Nintendo Exclusives in HD and i am a long time PS fan so ps4 is a day one whenever it launches.

MS has lost me in last 3 years because they have totally forgotten about us and gone with kinect this and kinect that or better with kinect. WE us the people on these gaming sites are CORE GAMERS and one thing we all want are games and exclusive games. All the money MS is paying Activision and Bethesda for exclusive DLC and the supposed Big amount they paid for GTA 4 should have gone towards actual development of new games or new studios.

They have turned Rare into price of crap and Rare use to be one of the top developers.

I am tired of new halo,gears and forza which has replaced fable. Look at sony and look at Nintendo while they do being their established IP's, they also making new IP's and i don't think that's what MS is aiming for they want to in the middle of you LIVING ROOM FOR ALL ENTERTAINMENT MACHINE NOT JUST GAMING. For a GAMING CONSOLE it needs to be supported with games.

if i can get the same game next gen on wii-u or ps4 and with both of those i can get excellent exclusives why should i or anyone else waste more on xbox720.

Its good to have both. Not everyone can but if ur lucky or can afford both Id go for it. My 360 is mostly for online play as most of my friends own a 360 and its eaiser to connect with them thru it. MY PS3 is for the wide genre of exclusives it has. However I cannot back the wii cause there is just too few games I want to play on it so I borrow it from my friend or just play at their house.

blu-ray was not better than HDDVD in anything but capacity. blu-ray 2.0 pretty much matched HDDVD 1.0 for functions. HD DVD was a finished format when released... blu-ray was rushed to market. most industry insiders preferred HDDVD from the get go. plus manufacturers could keep their current processes with just an upgrade to their current tech. Blu-ray was a case of all new equipment. HDDVD vs. Blu-ray was a repeat of Beta vs VHS down to the better tech did not win. they won because of one huge cheque coupled with the name Blu-ray sounded like awesome new tech, HDDVD sounded like old updated tech.

I bought multiplats for my PS3 :(

After noticing how much they sucked I tried playing some of my PS2 and PS1 games just to notice that it didn't have backwards compability. When finally getting it to play a decent game I had to download and install patches for about an hour before I could even get to the game, and 5 minutes later I got YLOD and Sony wouldn't lift a finger to help me. I had to buy a new one.

See, it's easy to put anything in a bad light.

Yup, i think people are getting pretty sick and tired of seeing fanboys act like they aren't the most biased. Especially from one who constantly cries foul about the media and when someone turns the tables it's time to argue and pick out that one comment.

The Playstation 3 IMO is the better system right now. It offers greater value but Sony screwed up early, big time. They also lack the marketing Microsoft has been able to sustain, especially in the U.S.A. People question their tactics on being so focused on 3rd party and not enough 1st party. Also on how they are so aggressive in timed exclusive games and DLC. The fact is they have gotten those key titles that used to be synonymous with the Playstation brand. Games like Grand Theft Auto (which was also timed exclusive on the PS2) and now the biggest franchise of all, Call Of Duty. Those games make Microsoft money and Call Of Duty sells XBOX Live memberships.

When you look at the growth of attaining a much larger userbase compared to last generation, this strategy has certainly paid off for them. They have even gotten much better support from Japanese developers, games like Resident Evil and Tekken and Virtua Fighter used to be passed on the original XBOX. It's called creating parity and in some cases being more sysnonymous now with the XBOX brand. For some strange reason people don't seem to like it when the tables are now turned or both companies are much more competitive. They seemed to enjoy when Sony was controlling the console market. Yet now that neither one is all of the sudden Microsoft is the evil one.

Also by focusing on less IP's they can concentrate and market them better. How many PS3 exclusives sold average or poorly? Yes as a gamer i like the selection a lot more on the PS3 but i'm purely speaking from a business point of view and sometimes you need to see things that way. Especially for Microsoft who lost a ton of money on the original XBOX. Now going into next generation Sony does not have the upper edge or momentum. It's anyone's gain.

I am a firm believer in games, not politics or console wars. Most of the best games this generation happen to come from 3rd party sources too and that is because of sheer numbers. Both the XBOX 360 and PS3 rely heavily on 3rd party, not just the XBOX 360.

I also want to acknowledge that Microsoft screwed up big time as well this generation, the hardware and it's reliablity. That was a huge thing to overcome but when people are already invested in XBOX Live and all those games it's hard to change. They managed to win people over and stay with their return policy and extended warranty. The PS3 also had hardware issues, just not nearly as widespread. So did the PS2.

This is why to me it would be best to wait until after a year or two before picking a new PS4 or new XBOX. Things will settle down, the game library will be much larger as well.

i have both syetems and i can tell you ( and i only speak for myself and my friends) that i prefer the 360 over the ps3. yes the ps3 has more exclusive then the 360 but a lot of them aren't worth the purchase. as hard as it is to believe most people aren't interested in a lot of what sony is putting out. it's called preference which sometime deffers from your own.

I think it's because MS has BOUGHT their way up there with GTA and such. Now recently with Kinect. They buy their way up instead of earning their respect the way Sony has done for example.

The best part is that people don't care about these things. All they see is price and the ads.

Everyone knows Sony was deep into motion gaming already in last gen. Everyone knows it was Sony's platforms that made GTA the game it is today. Same with Final Fantasy (even though the series turned to shit). Same with MGS. Sony took the plunge/risk and got those games to everyone and now MS comes in and buys their way into those shoes? That's not OK for many.

Why won't they make their own games and earn their respect? Why do they have to go there where the money is so arrogantly? "Sony's exclusives are good? Let's buy them multiplat" and then "Motion tech is hot now? Let's put something together and put 500 million dollars to ads". The fact is MS has no identity. They started to be a great company for gamers at first but then they stopped after Geow. That's the only big nextgen franchise they have. Forza and Halo started on xbox.

The difference from a gamers perspective is night and day with MS and Sony. It always has been. MS finds ways to make everything seem great and cheap and when the gullible people buy their stuff they end up having to dig their pockets time and time again. There are so many hidden strings attatched to x360 it's not even funny.

And to think that they actually pull through with this BS and actually succeed in this industry with these shenanigans applied it sometimes makes some people vomit a little in their mouths.

Well if you havnt noticed i can play free online or also pay $50 for ps+ and got probly around literally $200 worth free full games addons themes and i can store my game saves on ps+ cloud and download them on any new ps3 i get or if data gets corrupt and continue to play where i left off i get into betas all the time i have a internet browser so much more. There are just too many exclusive arcade games I'd miss out on to not have and Xbox. Halo Forza and Gears do also very much feature in there for me as well and I'd be right hacked off if I couldn't play the upcoming Carrier Command for example. Radiant Silvergun as well is really a big deal to me

And then you have games like Infamous, Killzone, Gods of war, Resisitance and Motorstorm which despite being all decent enough, are really not especially brilliant to most gamers. Uncharted, Heavy Rain, Last of us much better examples why you would want to own a PS3 and that's certainly no better than the wealth of great choice on 360

The best bet it to always to have each machine but the 360 has loads of great games and the idea that the PS3 is somehow massively superior in this regard is daft

let it go brother- not every gamer thinks god of war is amazing. i own all consoles but game on xbox and play playstation exclusives, but god of war 3 was ok. i mean after 5 god of war games (beat them all) he still has the same combos with the athena blades- wat up game wit dat? plus the game feels the same as every other god of war game and al then special kills in that require you to press "o" always end with kratos using the blades for the even though i have a different weapon equipped. wat up wit dat? to me god of war felt like a 7.5 in terms of enjoyment. but because of graphics in such you gotta give it atleast an 8, but i as a gamer base my personal score on how enjoyable the game felt to me.

personally god of war 3 should be the final game in the series and i hope the new prequel they are making will be the last god of war. the team should move on to different and better things.

If you are a gamer, be a gamer. This late in the console cycle if you don't have all three consoles, I think there is something wrong. All three can be had for less than the launch price of the PS3.

Gamer's game, I worry about sales only to the extent that the games and consoles I like sell well enough to garner sequels and new hardware.

I've found this generation to be pretty well rounded, lots of great games on every console.

I cant think of a mainstream console that wasn't at least $100 cheaper at launch. Nintendo has never had a console higher than $250. The original Xbox was $399. I remember buying my first 360 in Jan 2007. I could only afford to buy one game and decided to buy Lost Planet. I then downloaded every demo I could and played Hexic. After around a month I was already bored with my $399.99 console and $60 game. I took it back to Walmart got around $420 back with taxes, and pawned off Lost Planet. Fast Forward 8 months and I'm going to college and getting student loans and $$$$! I have a big decision to make do I buy a $1000 Gaming PC, Spend $599.99 for a PS3 that plays games like Resistance: Fall of Man, Uncharted: Drake Fortune, or Warhawk, or do I buy a black 360 Elite for $449.99 that plays games like Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect. At that time I had owned a Xbox and played Halo 2 online all the time. KOTOR being my all time favorite game I could only dream of playing Mass Effect when it came out.That and Bioshock and I was sold (plus the black 360 Elite looked badass!) Now after buying a PS3 in 2010 after 3 years with the 360 and over $300 spent toward Xbox Live, I'm no longer into playing Halo all day every day, Bioshock gets a release one year later on PS3, and Mass Effect is still awesome on a PC. I never got into Gears like most others. Fable 2 was ok at best and Fable 3 imo should have been 10 times better. It looks like to me that I made a bad choice should of went PS3 or better yet a Gaming PC. Hell I spent $450 on a 360 and $800 on a HDTV that could of bought one hell of a Gaming PC! Along with all the $60 games I've purchased and having had two 360's RROD if only I could go back in time to 2007. I'd most certainly get a PC!

Look at ms's 1st party studios from 2007-2008 vs currently if that doesn't worry you. I have to question if your actually a gamer and not a corporate plant/alt account spammer.

If the 720 title lineup for the first couple yrs, mimics the 360 in the first 3-4 yrs of it's lineup that will be good.(not the same games, but the same variety and exclusive quantity).

XBOX is more user friendly & has a btr network but i have my systems for GAMES.. Whichever console gives me the best offering of games i prefer, i support the most.. Sometimes I think I should have held out and waited until my next paycheque to buy the PlayStation 3 since a lot of the 3rd-party games I ended up buying for the XBox 360 would have been a good fit with alongside its exclusives making it the true ying to the Wii's (the console that renewed my interest in video games) yang.

But in the end I like the XBox 360 for its controller, its Achievement system, optional install, and easier to use multimedia capabilities (I actually used it to play DVD's when my PC died out). I bought it mostly for access to the 3rd-party multiplatform games that the Wii rarely got.

I spent so long comparing and evaluating each console when they came out. ( I do this with every expensive item i buy phones,tvs,ect...) I came to the conclusion that the ps3 was the best console so i saved up to buy it. Never tempted by xbox because halo, gears do not interest me and lets face it those are xbox's big hitters. Each system has their positives & their negatives. In the end it is all about preference.

For me i will be a Playstation fan cause of the games that the system brings. I love niche JRPGs like Neptune, Atelier, Disgaea, Agarest War, lesser known anime inspired games that are nothing but fan service for an otaku like myself. These games do not sell a ton but Sony continues to support these cause of the dedicated fans of these games.

I have nothing against the XB360 or whatever Nintendo comes out with. If they decide to support these games as well than i will have a decision to make. I have friends who has the 360 and i have friends that have a Wii/3DS, does not mean i hate them for having them. I respect their preference so it is not a big deal for liking a particular system.

I've had a 360 since launch and even though its become kind of irrelevant to me over the last couple of years, I would not say it was a mistake to get one. And I say that even though I've had 4 of them.

If you're a gamer, you want to game. I always knew was going to get a PS3, but it doesnt mean I wanted to wait an extra year to graduate from the PS2/Xbox gen.

His mistake was not in getting a 360, but in not getting a PS3 as well.

I have gaming PC, PS3, and 360. However, I am far from neutral. My preferences are PC>PS3>360.

The 360 is redundant to me since I either play multipat on PC or exclusives on PS3. The occasional 360 use is for LAN or game party with friends like Halo, Gears, Rockband, etc. But Gears and Halo does not appeal enough to be to warrant paying the online gate fee. I think the 360 is a poor choice as your main means of gaming. Being forced to pay for Live to play online as well as the initial hardware issues made it poor in my eyes. The 360 scratched several of my games, that made me bitter. I also didn't see the magic during my gold membership trial.

I have a ~$2000 PC, Xbox live fee is nothing. But on principle, I don't agree with their business practices.

I consider getting the 360 a mistake. I can play anything, but not everything. My gaming time is limited. I rather spend time playing something else on either the PC or PS3.

360 was fun in 2007 but now its not as much. Ima sony Fanboy but i play PC mostly now. Even with that being said 360 is not a waste. Halo 4 looks awesome and some games that arent on PC (which is a lot) somethimes run better on it.

It truly doesn't matter which system you back up as long as you, the gamer, are a having blast playing those games you bought. I remember buying a Sega Saturn when all my friends bought a playstation and I am so glad I did, I had experiences that no one else around me could speak of. Ultimately, it went off to sell less and almost disappear but I still hang on to mine cause my experience playing it was simply the best. It fit my gaming needs at the time, and to this day I'll play my Saturn and have a blast (and still ponder, what were they thinking when they bought their playstation? lol). I eventually got a PS1 and a dreamcast, and a PS2 and even a 360 (still can't envision buying a wii). I currently own a Vita, and that's my favorite platform for gaming, to each his own, and it's a waste of time comparing gaming experiences on the basis that yours is better than theirs.

I own all current gen and a half decent pc. I do nearly all gaming on my 360. I just find it the slicker system to use. The ps3 in my view is a slightly flawed system by design and by this i mean the hardware choice of cell, split ram and a weak last minute gpu. To be fair the devs have now made the most of the system and have turned out some amazing titles that tap the systems potential power. The design of the Ps3 and it's features at launch was not as considered as 360 IMO. Many of the ps3s features feel tacked on and are not as slick. I strongly feel that Sony went for the Blu ray Trojan horse as a design priority but then had to quickly rethink their os and server services once they saw what MS brought to the table. Don't get me wrong I think PSN is now almost on par and it's free but MS had a clearer design goal and better software implementation imo. MS's mistake was to rush the hardware. You can tell that they are a software company. They have now got it right with the 360s - it's a solid and good looking beasty.

Now I know that some of you will be saying yes yes but this is about games. Well yes I agree that ps3 has great exclusives but I play mostly multi plats and I liked the fact that most of them in the early days were better on Xbox so I bought that first then got a PS3 when the 40gb fat came out in the uk mainly for GT5 ( which was a big disappointment). Achievements, cross chat and the party system were the clincher for my gaming friends and I. We all hook up every weds to play gears/Cod/graw.

This site is very pro Sony but this is just my opinions on my experience. I respect (not flame) that others prefer the ps3 as it certainly has some pro points but for me I was just never the complete seamless package.

After reading this article very much i could relate to it a lot. It sounds like hes even from the same area of England as me in the west country where people speak like they do in fable and also the hobbits from lord of the rings.

like him i was also waiting out for the PS3 after having all the other PlayStation's. Then friends started getting the 360 and I would have a go on it when ever they would show of their amazing new console with amazing graphics...I also then got impatient of waiting for the PS3 and decided to get the 360 and i loved it, then after a couple of months i got the red ring of death. after that moment i decided to hand it back in get my money and wait for the PS3 after adding a bit of extra money to the pot.

I have never ever regretted my choice of getting rid of the 360 and going through with my purchase of the PS3. In terms of games we have to acknowledge that both consoles have a lot of the same games so its all down to the exclusives and I do feel the PS3 had the better selection of IP's and also they are carrying on with developing new IP's as well something that by the looks of it you don't get with the 360 that much.

Also I didn't like the idea of buying full price for a game then paying £40 to play the multiplayer side of it, as far as I'm concerned I have already paid to be able to play it online when i bought the game to start with. also having to pay for a HDDVD drive (which was a failure) a recharge pack and a WiFi add on all seemed a bit of a money making scheme which I didn't also like. The PS3 then seemed to be the logical solution for me everything that I need built in, Yeah I have to pay more at the start but at the end of it it would have cost me less and i wouldn't have to worry about paying £40 each and every damn year.

I don't want to sound to much like a fanboy mind and one of the things I really want is to be able to play with all of my mates as most do have the 360 but still I think i made the right choice and is happy with what i conclude as a better class of games which just don't repeat itself over and over again like Halo, Gears of War and even Call of duty its not just 360 exclusives i refuse to buy.

I do like to consider myself a true console gamer and is willing to buy a new console other then a PlayStation! If i feel its the better and more worthy of my money, like i first thought with the 360 this gen. For me the PlayStation was the clear choice for me and i love it but when looking for next gen I'm going to be looking for both companies and making up my mind after both have been out and have sneaked in a little play with both around mates house's before I make my mind.

Also I would have liked to have them all but when most of the same games are on both of the main consoles I couldn't justify spending all that money on a new console just for Halo which the best is still the 1st gears of war which just repeats itself and fable which is made by a person which has a issue with lying all the time. i have better things to spend my money on like a holiday or surround sound or new tv or updating my computer or paying to get the car fixed or putting it towards a nice weekend away with the GF or whatever both have to many of the same games for me to consider its worth while buying both

I just gave my 360 away to a friend a few months ago and even then HE didn't want it. He prefers Playstation. No need for it. PS3 has everything I'll need for a console for years. Also,there are just certain types of games that just don't fit the 360 well?

Almost every type of video game(JRPGS,Fighters,Sports games do really well on PS3) will always have a home on Playstation. Can't say the same for the Xbox brand. The userbase is too concentrated due mainly to the fact that you have to pay for xbox live so you FEEL like you need to get your money's worth so you buy whatever your friend buys. That's how I felt when I was paying for live. On PS3, I can take my time and go online and offline whenever I feel like it because it's free.

And also the 360 has so many hidden costs over months and months added up. Will not touch the Xbox 720 or whatever it is called. I will save up for a PS4 and ride it out.

I have both consoles. Outside of call of duty I play my ps3 more. Xbox I just play cod because of the elite maps you get a month early. Gears 3 multiplayer is very clunky and takes forever to master. I prefer uncharted multiplayer over gears. Halo reach has shity maps. I do want halo 4 as long as the maps are good. Killzone is just awsome. I love the multiplayer, but it can get bothersome when everyone plants mines throughout the map. Ps3 all day for me. I love playing as kratos on god of war. It's a masterpiece, something that 360 cant figure out.

If your unhappy with your system, then you've backed the wrong horse. I must say though, there have been no real problems this gen, like there were the past 2, where Sony's ps's dominated by a gap of 100 million + consoles. And they beat both MS & Nintendo by that margin with ps2. So, seing the sales are so close this gen, there has been enough great quality games for all three machines both in exclusives & multiplats.....and this applies moreso to ps3 & 360, as wii is basically a machine that got riddled with shovelware from 3rd parties. Still, even the grossly underpowered wii had it's shining stars, it's just that as a pretty serious gamer Wii would be last pick by a country mile if I could only own one machine.......hell, I'd take an onlive over wii. So, there you go, I've picked out the horse I wouldn't like to be on if I could only be on one this gen. I own all 3 machines, but if I only had the resouces to buy 1 & I decided on a Wii, I would feel I'd backed the wrong horse, without doubt.

They're just game consoles, there's no such thing as "backing the wrong horse". That said, I feel bad for anyone who bought the Wii. It just doesn't have any good games now.

I feel like the only reason the Wii U is being shipped so early is because Wii is dead in the water. I was hoping Nintendo would take a little more time developing it (especially the touch screen controller), but oh well.
