Seduce Me Is An RPG You Can Fap To — Expect More Bans On Steam

A very random, very tongue-in-cheek quick satire piece regarding the whole Seduce Me Steam Greenlight saga that was in the news recently.

Quote: "If you’ve been keeping a weather eye on the news of late, you must have heard of Valve’s removal of Seduce Me, a game from Dutch developer No Reply Games, from Steam Greenlight — a place where indie developers may go to share their ideas with gamers and get feedback and constructive criticism. Apparently it’s okay to have decapitations and strong language in a game but as long as a penis doesn’t touch a vagina it’s alright."

Love that argument...as if pornography deserves to infect every aspect of the industry just because violence does already.

Ogygian4245d ago

Well arbitrary views like yours continue to infect video game forums. Last time I checked by the way, pornography wasn't a disease, but was rather an arrangement of pixels on a screen or colour on a page.

Bimkoblerutso4245d ago

I have nothing against pornography, honestly, but I sure as hell don't think it "deserves" to be spammed across the entire industry. You can already get pornographic games ALL OVER THE INTERNET.

Really I was just pointing out the authors use of tu quoque in his justifications.

So lets say this was a movie okay? And steam was a movie theater.Do you think they would play a porno there? No,porno's are not played in movie theaters. They are sold are the website and watched(played) on porn sites

To be honest, I don't think games like this belong on the regular steam store. They should, however have an 18+ steam incognito service to cater for this market.

hkgamer4245d ago

Well, not saying if valve/steam does this. But some publisher/retailer/anyone could capitalise on this empty market and provide a marketplace for games like these.

I'm not saying make a market place for porn. I am just saying make a marketplace for adult/mature people. Have games that are targeted for an older audience. Maybe some games have no violence at all.

Actually it is about time we get content made for people over the age of 25+. Almost every media is targeted towards teenagers. Apart from books/documentaries I don't think I have seen anything catered towards people 25+. It's a shame.

I'm in the same boat with the article - It's ok to have violence, bad language, etc. but as soon as you see either a guys thing or a topless woman, "OMG ban this game!!!!!111!!"

Honestly they need a separate category for AO (Adult Only) or at least M; verify being 18+, and have access to that kind of content - and stop trying to "police" your customers.

Shadowstar4245d ago

Hm. Ultimately, it's Valve's choice what they want to sell in their store. This isn't like the Apple iOS store, where you've only got the one choice-- this is Steam. If you don't like their service, go to someone else, if no one else will carry it, start your own service that will carry things like this.

And if you really can't see a difference between an eroge and isolated sex scenes in games like Indigo Prophecy, then you shouldn't be talking about games in the first place, IMO.

let me ask something, as a parent, i would never let pornography be freely roaming a video game hub that's fairly friendly for underaged kids.

Sweet Transit Review – I Just Like Trains, Okay? - ESTNN

Timo Writes “If you're really into Factorio, stop reading this and go buy Sweet Transit. If you're really into seeing numbers grow and making those numbers grow faster, you should also buy Sweet Transit. In short, I liked this one, but as I mentioned in my Early Access Preview almost 2 years ago, this is a very “made for me” kind of game.

So what has changed in 2 years of Early Access, and are the trains still cool? We're getting into it in great detail right here in our review.”
