Darksiders II sells just 247,000 copies in US

The NPD Group has informed GamesIndustry International that THQ's Darksiders II sold just 247,000 units for the August reporting period - that's despite placing first on NPD's top 10 chart, which shows just how weak retail software sales have been.

The term "deserve" sounds so defensive. It's fine not to like CoD, but to imply that the programmers, level designers, artists, etc don't deserve to be successful for their hard work is kinda insulting.

I'm sure the Darksiders team put their hearts into the game, especially knowing how high the stakes were with THQ in its current financial situation. Did they "deserve" more success? I'm not one to say that someone or group does or doesn't deserve success, because sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't regardless of circumstances.

If you and I and/or other gamers want to see an under appreciated title get the success we feel it deserves, then we need to promote it by saying what's great about it, not fall on our backs and say "it isn't fair". Word of mouth positive criticism can take a game from poor sales to strong sales... word of mouth is worth more than any advertising dollar.

Lowering sales trends usually accounts to developers holding newer games for the next-gen, as we've seen in the past. Basically get all the sequels out for these gens to conclude a series, then start the wave of new IP's for next-gen. At least that's what I've noticed. Doesn't account for the fact that spring of next year is going to rip a hole the size of China through my wallet and time.

Well i'm glad to say that I was one of those 250,000 and this game was worth every penny they spent making it.

So far Darksiders 2 is definitely my game of the year. I'm on my 2nd playthrough collecting everything again and i'm about to do the crucible 1-101. Looking forward to the dlc.

Freaking buy this game! Soo much content and replayability for a singleplayer game. If you liked WoW or Zelda you can't miss this! Also has elements of Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia, Shadow of the Colossus, and God of War. The puzzles in the game are pretty damn good.

It bothers me that this game didn't get more sales. I thought they did a great job and it was above my expectations.

plus, this type of game is not what the masses prefer this gen and it's SP only. just look at call of juarez the cartel, it's crap but just because it's a FPS, it sells way better! sad buy true

I wasn't that big of a fan of the first one. It was just ok. But I love darksiders 2. I hope it sells enough to make a third. It would be a damn shame if it didn't.

I love it! I think the first Darksiders had a stronger character and better story focus. But everything else is huge improvement. Music alone is worth buying this game!

The game is good, but it is no Triple A game. It came close, but it still needed more polish in my opinion. I just beat it and during my entire playthrough I saw many things that could have made the game slightly better. Overall it was good but not 60$ good. More like 40$

It took me 22hrs, and when i was done i was glad because the game was so bland and dull. It lacked innovation and most aspects of the game were medicore. I give it a 7.5 of 10. What I will remember most is the earth level. Worst dungeon in the game.

The first half of the game is fun, but the second half is rushed mediocrity defined. Especially that Earth level, which along with the second half ruined it for me. It's really not that special of a game on the whole and damn sure is not consistent enough all the way through to be considered a truly great game. At least not for me.

This is why i didnt buy it. I knew it would drop in price fast and im sick of spending 60 bucks to see the game sell for 20 in a month or two. Unless its a series or new ip im really excited for (xenoblade, last story, kingdom hearts ddd exc)i can wait. I still havent gotten MP3 yet. I did enjoy the 1st game but not as much as people hyped it. It was a decent game that i got bored with halfways through. Loved the Zelda influince and puzzles though. It dropped to like 10 bucks super quick also.

This industry is going downhill.. Casual games n COD games took over.. There was a time when those types of games were the minority but wii & xbox even PS found gold with it.. Now phone games with ZERO buttons are ever so popular? I may have to hang up my controller in the nx generation & give up my favorite hobby.. As games become more expensive to develop & numbers drop, they will cease to exist.. Recycled games like COD that require little effort & resources explode with million sales on the 1st day... smh

Very bad news....but it's only thq and vigil's fault.The game is incredibly bugged and crashes on ps3 and xbox360. Then all the flaws in the gameplay and camera issues of the first weren't been improved and corrected.Also the game is repetitive with uninspired dungeons and poor graphics. Sleeping dogs has stolen all the attention of the gamers. And there's a reason....much better and enjoyable than darksiders 2. buy it only when it is under $ 20
