Half-Life Remake Gets A Release Date

While we beg, plead, and yell at Valve to release another Half-Life game, the folks behind Black Mesa, the unofficial remake of the original Half-Life, have announced that the first build of the game will be releasing very soon.
You’ll be able to download Black Mesa when it releases on September 14. Unfortuantely, the game is not completely finished; this release will only take you up to the Lambda Core. In the meantime, the developers are working hard on finishing the Xen levels.

Aww not console version blues??

I can't wait to relive HL! F**k re buying HD Remakes.

Lucretia4246d ago

? console version? ummmmm I played HL 1 and 2.....I have a gaming PC. I just wasn't a huge fan of it. maybe because I played it when it was pretty old. I could understand why people would love it back in the day.

but i played HL 1 after i Played HL 2 lol.

just not a huge fan of shooters in general honestly, let alone I don't like the characters in the game nor the story

I can understand not really liking the game that much if you played it years after its release. Other FPS's have surpassed it in terms of gameplay. But how could you not like the story?

I'm guessing you don't realize how deep the story goes because they don't do the best job of revealing it all in the game, IMO. You should read this:

Well at least there is something of it to play now, but everyone's interest in this has faded. It was supposed to release back in 2009 I think xD. Better late than never :3

Wooooo!!!! I have been following this mod for years! I can't wait to go through Hl1 again!

Bimkoblerutso4246d ago

It's cool that they've got the majority of the game done, but I sorta just want the whole thing. If I can wait eight years, I can wait however long it takes to finish the rest of it at this point.

The game is already below standards at this point. I don't even understand the point of continuing this project if it's already old and outdated by todays standards. Should of came out when it was originally instated. If you must play a different version then go play the Dreamcast or ps2 or if you didn't the pc version.

Team Fortress: Source 2 and Portal 64 Fan Projects Shut Down by Valve Takedowns

Fan projects Team Fortress: Source 2 and Portal 64 have shut down after Valve intervened in their development.

-Foxtrot98d ago

First they open Steam up to more AI, now they are shutting down fan projects when at one time they used to support or even give the fans jobs.

Wonder what's going on with Valve at the minute.

@Foxtrot
It’s called money plain and simple.

JEECE97d ago

I mean, that might explain the Team Fortress 2 thing, because Valve might bring that to Source 2 (though I'm not sure I'd bet on that), but I can't see how Portal 64 hurts them. If anything, it's more attention to the Portal and therefore Valve/Steam.

Giblet_Head98d ago (Edited 98d ago )

There's potential that Valve had already planned to bring Source 2 to TF2 officially after Counter Strike 2. It's been getting some renewed attention lately.

Inverno97d ago

You got Nintendo to thank for Portal64 being taken down. As for TF2, most likely it's due to the probability of Valve working on a source 2 port themselves. It's sucks but Nintendo are the biggest pricks in the business and not letting this drag out into a huge court drama is the best decision.

Valve Opens the Floodgates to Allow More AI Based Games on Steam

Valve has updated its stance on AI games on the Steam storefront, allowing creators to publish AI-created games.

AI is just another form of slavery for our computer brethren.

Hell no. I want games that have been made by creative minds who have a passion for their craft, not a bot with a penchant for plagiarism.

So instead of paying for an engine and assets to create a game they are paying for an engine and assets to create a game.
