Can FIFA, Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed save Vita?

In the wake of E3 in June serious questions were being asked about PlayStation Vita.

For all its whizz bang technology, high-end games and control schemes, the portable has yet to find its audience. And not just in the UK, but in Sony’s homeland of Japan, too.

So retailers looked to E3 to discover what Sony would do to transform the platform’s fortunes. Yet outside of a Call of Duty teaser, Vita was sidelined in favour of PS3. The trade wasn’t getting the answers it needed.

For me just AC3L (really looking forward to this one - gameplay at GamesCom was great) and LBP (I'm a little bored with the franchise on PS3 but having it on the go should be great). After that I am really looking forward to Killzone and Warrior's Lair should it ever be released. I was looking forward to CoD but since the Resistance VITA guys do it, I am afraid it won't be that great but I'll be watching the reviews for it anyway.

Why is everybody forgetting about Need For Speed Most Wanted? It's being made by Criterion, and the Vita version is identical to the console version.

Anyway... I'm really looking forward to playing LBPVita this month. Trust me, this LBP is the best of them all and fits perfectly on the Vita.

I wonder which game will be saving the Vita in five years? I wonder which particular PS1 game will people suddenly want but isn't there? I wonder which sites will put out low reviews for LBPVita to lower the Metacritic score? It's exciting times ahead and I just can't wait to see what headlines we'll get.

The Vita needs saving? I just finished Wipeout and put 74 hours into Persona 3. I have almost 50 games saved on my Vita and have been using it everyday since launch. If anyone needs saving it's the people writing up these Vita doomsday articles I see daily on N4G.

I don't think it needs saving, but really you put FIFA up there. There are tons of games that would sell so much better than that. Need For Speed, freaking Little Big Plant, and Persona 4 are just a few. And at this point, I doubt CoD will be selling as many as people though.

Well FIFA is IMO the best port on the vita. It's plays and looks identical to the console so yes a lot of people are looking forward to it and FIFA is as popular as cod and assasins creed so it has the right to there maybe even more so then some of those games. Your probably just not a fan of football you know the most beautiful game? Aswell as the most popular game in the world. I'm not assuming your American but they are the ones that underestimate the power of football. Also persona 4 sell more than FIFA? Lol! Funny.

FIFA Soccer sold 300,000 worldwide. Persona 4 has only been released in Japan and has already sold 210,000 copies. FIFA 2012 sold 440,000 worlwide on the PSP. Persona 3 Portable sold 510,000 on the PSP. I think it's fair to say that Persona will outsell FIFA. I am American and I don't underestimate the power of soccer. I think that people who love it overestimate the power of it.

But yeah, journalism is going downhill and the Vita is pretty well off.

No it didn't. Persona 4 still hasn't been released in Europe and North America. Once it does, it will exceed FIFA's sales. And it outsold it before on PSP. Your math skills need work.

No games like LBP will "save" the vita if it needs saving. The vita needs unique experiences tailored to handheld gaming, not identical console ports with a few gimmicks.

I'm not saying this of you, but the number of these articles suggests to me that there are dozens and dozens of really stupid people that contribute and approve articles on this site. Nothing will ever make me go out and buy anything other than a Sony console. Partly because Sony have so many great games and partly because I can see the general mentality of those on the other consoles.

The projected was higher than 2.5 million... Sony was guessing 16 million for the year(both Vita and PSP) a few months ago... and the guess for PSP is 6 million... I doubt the Vita is to move 7.5 million units... the Vita will sell a boat load during the holidays but i doubt it will average a million units a month

they adjusted the figures recently... just look back at Sony's estimates back in April or May... dont think they gave out estimates back in Feb. they thought the sales from the first month would stay constant but they havent and now they are adjusting it... but who know the Vita is powerful but still has an uphill climb... LBP, AC3 and COD will move hardware... I want to Vita to do well but Sony needs to back it more and get some more 3rd party support... Im dreaming but would love to see Dragon Quest on it...

I still have to get Soundshapes, and I'm definitely getting AC and LBP (i prefer platformers on handhelds than on a big screen, i have rayman origins on the vita as well, its good for a pick and play game), plus i might get PAS:BR since i can play it on the vita as well. I wont buy the new FIFA for the Vita, Ill buy FIFA13 for the ps3 yeah but no need to upgrade for the Vita. I was still playing my FIFA09 on my PSP before getting the Vita lol

LBP and KZ are not 3rd party.
NFS Most Wanted and FIFA are ports.
BO Declassified is an original, but quickly made by the same B-team studio that developed the awful Resistance Burning Skies alongside it.

So basically, the only AAA 3rd party game on the Vita for 2012 that's not a port is Assassin's Creed Liberation.

ive owned the vita since day one launch. im sick of this bs. do they want me to be scared that it will die off like the dreamcast? i dont get it. acually worries me a lil cause i am crazy bout my vita, as well as the dreamcast back in the day. this cause of uncertainty is pissing me off. it wouldnt be the fact that i lost money if it failed, but more so the fact that the vita kicks ass and i want it for years to come. quit approving these shit articles

I think Sony should start by lowering the prices of the Vita's proprietary cards and give a free memory card with every purchase of a Vita (even if its just the 4GB)

If Sony will show that they are willing to give more then maybe that could sway some new costumers.

The games will come but gamers can and will wait patiently for a better price deal.

Sony has to start from somewhere and I think the memory card should be it.

It doesn't matter. Even when those games come out and sales pick up, it won't be enough for some people. They'll be looking to the next big games and asking they'll be capable of "saving" the Vita. Once those are out, it'll be up to some feature or another on the horizon. Then it'll be back to games.

Unless the Vita magically starts putting up DS/3DS numbers(let's be honest: nobody expects that, not even Sony), it'll have to live with "Can X Save the Vita?" articles until at least this time next year.

What i think is really going on here is you know it's not doing as well as you'd hope and really does bother you when people aren't positive about it. Get a backbone and stop worrying about it, it's only a gaming device. If it doesn't do well it was only $250 and you still got some enjoyment out of it right? Perhaps you should spend more time playing with it than arguing with everyone on N4G and worrying about what other people think. Just a thought.
