G4tv writes: Forget princesses and cutesy romances. There's a wide world of female role models out there who behave like real-world women actually might in the situations they find themselves in – they don't cry for help while trapped at the top of an ivory tower or prance around in their skivvies while doing absolutely nothing to assist those around them. They simply get things done, no matter how high the stakes are.
In a world where the female characters are usually treated as simple counterparts for their male brethren, it's hard to find great examples that set a trend for women who accomplish great things. But after scouring the annals of gaming history we've come up with some of the best female role models of the medium – and if you've got any better ideas, as always feel free to let us know.
The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
While FFVII ranks highly, there's more to the series than one game. Here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best Final Fantasy characters.
Got that retro survival horror bug? Here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best survival horror games from yesteryear.
Eternal Darkness was way ahead of its time especially for a Nintendo exclusive.
I would love to see a remake or sequel (multiplatform)
4 people love Eternal Darkness.
Quick! Jump on that remake, whoever holds the rights these days.
Lara Croft?
My top 5 in no order
Jill Valentine
Terra FF VI
Kat Gravity Rush
Chun-li
Maya Amano Persona 2
Good to see Alyx as the first bad ass women character. I personally would've included Kat from GR :)
Just played through Heavenly Sword again. Fantastic story and a few of the characters are amazing...particularly King Bohan, Flying Fox (reminds me of a Kojima villain) and of course, Nariko and Kai. Playing it kinda makes you wish the team that created it were not a bunch of assholes..
Anyway, the Nariko character is probably one of the most badass women in all of gaming. Even prior to her wielding the Heavenly Sword, she's plowing through waves of bad guys with a rusty sword and cannon balls (probably the best use of Sixaxis motion?).
On top of fighting a war, she's also in conflict with her own clan (a clan mostly consisting of homosexual males..) that hate her because she was born...and grew up to be, basically an even hotter version of Wonder Woman with long red hair that kicks ass for the good of the entire clan of women haters. Yeah...a real abomination, that one... My favorite scenes are with her and one of the not so good characters in the game, Whiptail (Think Reta Repulsa from old school Power Rangers with a dead fish on her head...). Not so much the actual fighting which was kinda mediocre, but the banter between the two characters.
Kinda bummed they killed her off but hell, Kratos has died 3 times and kicked hell's ass on each occasion. Nariko is badass enough to beat death as well.
Catwoman..
