G4 - Dead Island Riptide First Look Preview -- We Have to Go Back...and Kill More Zombies

I played through the first one, never really thrilled, and even halfway through again online. But the game, in my opinion, was just repetitive and just never really excited me. And now in this one we get the same characters and what I assume will be the same repetitiveness. I'll rent this one just like the other though. Definitely won't be a buy for me.

I agree, it was kinda fun for first couple of hours, if it wasn't for co op i would never finish it missions were just fetch quest all the way till the end, although might pick up sequel once it hits bargain bin...

No attempt was made to match the atmosphere created by the debut trailer, the lack of a character customisation and the horribly stereotypical characters to choose from took away any immersion to be had whilst playing the game, the game was riddled with bugs, in all, it was possibly the most disappointing game of this generation. The developers really need to reconsider many of the design choices of the original if they intend this sequel to appeal to those disappointed by the original such as myself...

I'll never know why so many people didn't like the first one (I'm probably just a zombie fanboy). Sure, a few things need to be fixed, but it's still one of the best zombie games on the market (although Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead are probably far ahead). I, for one, can't wait to play the sequel.

I agree with you, although this game isn't for every one, I think it found its niche among gamers. I spent hours playing online with friends and had a blast the whole time. I'm definitely ready for some more.
