Having played the 2nd Uncharted on the PS3, I was worried that coming to the Vita to play an Uncharted game might present an extremely thinned out version of its bigger brother, the PS3. Thankfully this is nowhere near the case, as the Vita manages to maintain a high standard of polish and presentation that emulates the console versions near perfectly, graphics and all. Now I'm in no way suggesting that a handheld game has managed to look exactly alike as the PS3 version of the game, and it's noticeable in places that the levels have been significantly scaled down to accommodate for the lack of power compared to the PS3 (trees in background being 2d billboards, mountains being elaborate cut-outs too etc.).
However, even though the game has been shrunk inwards ever so slightly in scope, things such as screen-space-ambient-occlusion and dynamic ray traced shadows are still present. Sony realised the importance that Uncharted: GA make it to the Vita's launch lineup, as it not only demonstrates the power of the system, but also the potential.
A relic of its time or a buried treasure from the past?
I was really hoping this would have made it into one of the collections. Like how they did with the GoW PSP games.
I loved this game. It was like an extension of the first one. Why haven't we gotten an HD release yet?
Sony should have tried harder to support the Vita. It ended up just a solid emulation machine that happens to have a handful of classics.
I really like Uncharted:Golden Abyss on ps vita it would be dope if they remaster it for PlayStation 5
As we come to the end of 2021, let's take a look back as we celebrate many anniversaries that are up and coming next year.
Uncharted Golden Abyss originally pitch had plans for a "Mafia Wars" like multiplayer, and its original expected budget was at $13.5 million.
I remember buying this and the Vita day one in 2012. That was almost ten years ago, damn.
a little late...
Welcome to the party pal
i loved the game but i feel like it could of been a lot better if it wasn't for all the gimmicky motion/touch screen crap.
It was great but it was missing 3 big things imo. The first is the big blockbuster moments Uncharted is known for, they were mia. Thats like a Gears game without Locust. The second is mp. This wouldve sold much more (and sold more vitas) if it had even 3 vs 3 mp. It wouldve been the perfect game to showcase mp. The third is co-op. It was perfect for some bite sized co-op levels ripped right from the campaign. It wouldve given it more longevity and people would encourage friends/family to get it selling more units. I loved raid mode in RE Revelations and the vita still doesnt have that great co-op experience. Unit 13 was okay for a minute before i realized how short, recycled, and uninspired it was (now that NEEDED mp even more or a campaign).
Still loved it. Might replay it sometime soon. It did show off the vitas capabilities nicely.
