Curse NA and Dignitas Disqualified From MLG League of Legends Summer Event

MLG today announced that it will not be giving out the first and second place prizes to Curse NA and Dignitas. The announcement goes on to detail that the teams were both disqualified for collusion, which is considered a violation to both the rules of MLG and to the spirit of their competitive gaming league.

Its not that they're cheap they get what they deserve they came in 3rd and 4th so that is what they will get.

I can't think of a single competition in which, if the winner and the runner up get disqualified, the third and fourth don't get to advance.

Sucha a shame for these 2 teams...these teams were always top 8 in major tournaments...

They can continue to play in the future, I think they just had their stuff revoked for this one specific event.

Hmm notin new with Team Dignitas played them in clanbase and devoti. Way back on cod hacking idiots tbh. Can say the same for quite a few others aswell but then again come lan events they have to dumb all the crap they use in online leagues to stay clean -_-.

So this is the story behind what had happened...I'll give the information that I know...only 1 part i'm not 100% clear on...

To my knowledge, the original plan was to have a regular championship match, best of 3, 5, or how many games it may be...but someone brought up the idea of doing ARAM instead for the finals (at first most of us thought was a joke) but then it was reality. It would make the game a little more for fun, rather than extreme heated competition...but what wasn't discussed with the officials is that Curse and Dignitas had conversations of splitting the money...it wasn't anything to do with matchfixing (TO MY KNOWLEDGE) it was just a friendly game so they decided to take some pressure off and make it more enjoyable to split the earnings...this is against MLG rules and this is why both teams were disqualified.

No word on if they are banned from future events, and most likely not because this wasn't some kind of "scam" like some people have been mentioning...it was just a friendly game where money would be split but that is against MLG rules...it wasn't through manipulation of the brackets or anything like that.

I think this decision even if against MLG rules is actually stupid, I mean if it was the semi-finals and a team offered a different team to take a dive/loss for a split of 1st/2nd place money then yea DQ them but for the finals??? 1st and 2nd place agreeing to have fun instead of being competitive and just split their earned winnings... and they get punished for that? That said, these two teams knew the rules and broke them... also stupid.
