Resident Evil 6 DLC Is Hitting the Xbox 360 First

That's according to the Xbox 360 Japan Twitter feed—which explicitly makes it seem as though the Xbox 360 will get RE6 DLC before the PS3 does.

Whitefeather4254d ago

Lame, enough with this exclusive DLC non-sense. I'm really starting to think I should skip RE6 now.

Kin23g4254d ago (Edited 4254d ago )

Capcom is messing up big time. First DmC now this.

TeaDouble_E4254d ago

You forgot about street fighter x tekken and how they tried to hide content on the disc. Capcom said its dlc but that was not true. Same goes for dragons dogma too.

ABizzel14254d ago

I thought we all knew this from E3.

IMO it's a waste of money, that could have been put towards building their first party. But MS are fine producing Halo / Fable / Forza / Gears / Kinect.

Where is Ryse, Panzer Dragoon Kinect, and all these "Unannounced Titles". XBLA titles are nice to have, but a new IP full retail release would be better.

crxss4253d ago

RE6 screen tearing hitting the 360 first. Oooooooooh snap.

DOMination-4253d ago

@ABizzel1

Yeah, MS have been disappointing in the last few years but they now have 20 studios with most working on new IP for next gen.

EVILDEAD3604253d ago (Edited 4253d ago )

'Yeah, MS have been disappointing in the last few years but they now have 20 studios with most working on new IP for next gen'

Lol..Dissapointing to who? Trolls on the interent who don't own or play with their 360?

'Where is Ryse, Panzer Dragoon Kinect, and all these "Unannounced Titles". XBLA titles are nice to have, but a new IP full retail release would be better.'

Ryse has been announced for next gen last December, The Crimson game IS an XBLA title.

Show me all of the new IP full retails last year or this year for the 360 or the PS3?

The most anticipated game of the year is Halo 4 and you think because it's not a new IP that millions and millions of gamers are even the slightest dissapointed?

On topic..

It's hilarious to bring up the silly 'exclusives' argument in an article about RE DLC coming first.

And Of course when DLC is announced coming to the 360 first you see the knee-jerk reaction..I'm not going to buy it now..

But no one said a Sony announced on the E3 stage that Assasin's Creed 3 and others where getting exclusive DLC on the PS3.

Same ol' Same..lol...if it bother you THAT bad..then don't..my guess is that there is a 99.9% chance that people who say this werent going to buy it anyway.

I like exclusive games much more than timed exclusive DLC.

ZombieKiller4253d ago

thia sucks. I know we have the power not to buy, but then we dont get an RE game. this one looks good but I have steered away from Capcom this gen for the most part because of all the remix's and day 1 DLC. I think I might skip this one too now. I am HUGE DmC fan and still cant bring myself to buy the new one. I can already see it being good, but NOT DmC. Between that, and the bad business practicess, I think I want to steer clear of Capcom. Remember, if hey don't see the sales, they start to sweat. Sweating makes them change their ways. Maybe then they will show a bit more love for their game rather than the money. As it stands now, I feel like Treyarch puts more love into COD, than Capcom did with any games this gen. That's saying alot

BrutallyBlunt4254d ago

I find some of these responses rather ironic. These tactics have been going on for decades. Did people forget Gran Theft Auto and how the Playstation 2 had timed exclusives for that franchise? Did those tactics not pay off for them?

Timed exclusive whether it's a full game or DLC can have an impact. Consumers want to get the product early. Some people even import games or even game systems from other countries just so they can have them early.

If the game companies can collaborate like they do with home video then things would be different. We either want competition at the software level or we don't. That's why i would love the PC be the platform for all games, that way you can scale the hardware to the consumer and not have the consumer go from one place to another looking for software and the hardware to go with it.

Instead here we are much like we were back in the 80's. Having consumers go from one platform to the other to satisfy their needs because these big companies want you to buy their hardware.

TheTwelve4254d ago

Grand Theft Auto 3 came out on PS2 in October 2001. It didn't even come out on another system (Windows) until May 2002, and not the Xbox until November 2003. So I don't understand your analogy.

What we're looking at here is timed DLC that is coming out for a game available at the same time for more than one console. Microsoft brought this kind of stuff into the industry this gen ---

--- and Microsoft will themselves get bit by it one day too.

BrutallyBlunt4254d ago

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas came out on the PS2 October 2004, it did not come out until June 2005 on the PC and XBOX. It was indeed a timed exclusive.

http://spong.com/article/62...

So if you cannot grasp how these tactics were used back then and are still being used today to sway consumers then that's your problem, not mine. DLC is just an extension to full game exclusives we seen back then.

Sony also makes it mandatory to have some sort of exclusive content for games that were previously released on other platforms. The reason is also obvious, they entice gamers to buy the new version and to make it on the PS3 as being more attractive to the consumer.

"When reminiscing on Quake Wars' "depressing" development cycle and launch, Carmack notes that Sony demands that games coming out on their platform after they've already been released on other platforms must have significant bonus content. He also makes a big deal of the fact that while Rage will almost certainly look and run better on the PlayStation 3, he believes the 360 is the better hardware over all, because id is having to put double the work into the PS3 port. "

There are all sorts of agreements and deals that go on behind the scenes, and as i say, it's been going on for years and years.

LevelHead "These tactics have been going on for decades. Did people forget Gran Theft Auto and how the Playstation 2 had timed exclusives for that franchise? Did those tactics not pay off for them?"

That's a big fat bubble up 4 U

Fact is Sony has done that a lot more than MS has just with the PS2. Of course when the PS3 gets the same treatment (EA and Valve) I don't hear Xbox owners whining about it.

Bon Scott4254d ago

"drum roll".................... ........and here come the whiny Sony fangirls lol

Xbox owners hardly ever if never cry bout this crap!
It's business,and good business!
Glad I offed my Ps3 and only own 360 now.

Ben_Grimm4254d ago

it is funny dont you think. MS does it BAD, Sony does it Hooray! like levelhead said this type of practices have been going on forever and more than likely it was even relevent in the 16 bit era. but with the rise of the internet and information being more accesible we are able to see and learn more today.

Blacktric4254d ago

Oh wow what a fantastic reason to buy the Xbox 360 version.

/s

This is the last straw. I am not going to support Capcom in any way. Enough of this crap.

Aceman184254d ago

to me this is not that big of a deal. i plan on playing this on PS3 with a friend of mine just like we did RE5.

Awesome_Gamer4253d ago

Same thing happend with RE5 and Dragon's Dogma..
PS3 version of both still outselled the 360 one 3:1, japanese are interested in 360 and you can't change thier opinions

Prcko4254d ago

so ps3 is underdog this gen,lovely -.-

TCG_Returns4254d ago

How so? PS3 usually gets exclusive DLC for a lot of games. Not that silly timed-exclusive stuff lol

NastyLeftHook04254d ago

Not at all. The ps3 gets "Permanent" exclusive content. (It will never ever go to 360.)

ex: Dead Space 2
.Assassins creed 3
.Batman Arkham City
.Portal 2
.Medal Of Honor

So when a Resident Evil (ps3 gamer) Sees this he should feel ok because its not permanent.

SOD_Delta4254d ago

PS3 gets BATTLEFIELD 3 DLC first.

ALLWRONG4254d ago

The only difference is there isn't a horde of Xbox fanboys crying about it.

Cocozero4254d ago

At least PS3 users eventually get content what about 360 users who don't even get the exclusive Assassin's Creed 3 content

-MD-4254d ago

60 minutes of dlc vs waiting a month+

Neither would sway a $60 purchase from me. I'll choose the platform I WANT to play on.

jeremyj29134253d ago

It's only because of the disc space. That stuff isn't dlc, it's part of the ps3 retail copy. Still pretty random for Sony to pay for it tho.

There Will Never Be Another Resident Evil 6 (And That Sucks)

A rough gem that may never get the proper treatment it deserves.

Terry_B398d ago

^^ I don't want what the author was smoking.

-Foxtrot398d ago

It’s this thing where after enough time people start coming out to defend bad games for some strange reason

I mean hey if you liked it good for you but it was a f****** awful RE game.

Capcom are finally back on track and now people are crying about their shitty mistakes? No thanks.

RpgSama396d ago

I'd take a full blown remake of RE6 based around a GREATLY expanded Leon part and make it even more horror.

That might be something I would be interested in, do not care about any of the other parts of that game.

MadLad396d ago

I couldn't even get through the demo.
Years later I bought it for $3 for PC. I played about 5 minutes into it and uninstalled it.

babadivad396d ago (Edited 396d ago )

RE6 was better than 5. RE6 just took the series to the conclusion that started with 4.

RE4 was the inaugural title in the action game trilogy.

RE9 will be the likely end of the first person psychological thriller trilogy.

They'll switch it up for RE10 or more likely titled RE-X.

hotnickles396d ago

5 is vastly better than 6 imo

TheEnigma313396d ago

RE5 is way better than 6. Stop lying to yourself

FallenAngel1984398d ago (Edited 398d ago )

“But all this is solely with respect to how fans felt back in 2013 when Resident Evil 6 had just been released. The game resulted in the series getting indefinitely killed off until 5 years later when we got Resident Evil 7 and balance was restored yet again. ”

1.) Resident Evil 6 came out in 2012, not 2013

2.) A series getting killed off means no titles at all released in a time period. Silent Hill, Dead Space, Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve & Siren fans would love to see how you can say RE was on the same level of dormancy. In that 5 year time period we had a number of remasters that kept the series alive and kicking. RE1 02ms remaster even broke sales records during the period between RE6 and RE7.

3. Way to disrespect Resident Evil: Revelations 2. It was released during that RE6-RE7 period. It along with its predecessor were mainline titles that kept the horror roots of the series alive in comparison to RE5 and RE6. RE: R1 in particular even introduced the ability to walk and shoot into the series, a feature we can all be grateful for that in modern RE titles. The director RE: R1 later went on to direct RE7 and the director of RE: R2 later went to to direct the RE2 & RE4 remakes.

Immagaiden397d ago (Edited 397d ago )

“Resident Evil 6 is often maligned as the worst entry in the Resident Evil series and is cited as the cause behind the long death of the franchise.”

Titles in the Resident Evil series such as Survivor, Gaiden, Dead Aim, Outbreak, Operation Raccoon City, Umbrella Corps, & Resistance we’re received far worse than RE6.

And death of the franchise?

RE6 was still one of the most commercially successful games in the series, guaranteeing the franchise’s future. Compare how underwhelming sales of Dead Space 3, Silent Hill: Downpour. Alone in the Dark: Illumination, Dino Crisis 3, Fatal Frame: Maiden in Black Water, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, and Metroid: Other M which caused their respective series to go into a long period of dormancy without any rereleases to even keep activity up.

RE however still had a significant number of titles released and rereleased after RE6. Not only that but development for RE7 started a short time after its predecessor came out, meaning there was never a development time that the series could be considered dead. There hasn’t been a single year that Capcom stopped either developing, releasing, or rereleasing Resident Evil games. Let’s not act like the 5 year period between RE6 and RE7 is such a longer time compared to the 4 year period between RE4 and RE5 as well as RE7 and RE8. We can pretty much expect RE9 in either 2025 or 2026, and you can be certain that Capcom will still release other RE tiles leading up to it

TheEnigma313396d ago (Edited 396d ago )

Man go some where with this. Only a few like this game. Why would they remake a garbage game no one likes risking money because it won't sell? RE 6 is dumpster drippings, sorry.

MIDGETonSTILTS17396d ago

It wasn’t that good, even if you enjoyed it like me.
