Skyrim Hearthfire with free Dawnguard on PS3

ProductReviews: It’s fair to say that PS3 users are not happy at all with the Dawnguard situation for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Bethesda had originally stated that PS3 users would get it 30 days after Xbox 360, but it is now coming up to a full two months without Dawnguard and there’s still complete silence from Bethesda.

Earlier on this week we toyed on the idea of Xbox 360 users getting an announcement on Hearthfire, the next rumored pack, before PS3 users even have a chance to play Dawnguard. We received some very interesting feedback for sure which you can read through yourselves here, but some additional details on Hearthfire have arrived and it once again threatens to make this a reality for PS3 owners.

I don't see it happening. It's like we've been thrown in a corner and forgotten about. Things like this help determine if i'll invest in your future products I.E. Fallout4. I've been having freeze issuse with my copy so i've been playing Fifa12. They need to address this ASAP

This shows where their priorities are.

thorstein4259d ago

Not only that, but according to this article " but it is now coming up to a full two months without Dawnguard and there’s still complete silence from Bethesda. "

Complete silence? Really? August 2nd, 2012:

""We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard's performance on the PS3," said Bethesda on the company blog. "We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality."

I fucking hate journalists that don't know what the fuck they are talking about!!!!!

Vettur4259d ago

More like: "Free? zenimax? LOL"
Zenimax are the ones that decides the prices of bethesda games. Todd Haward has even said that he thinks game-prices are too high.

KwietStorm_BLM4259d ago

Pricing has nothing to do with the actual development of the game.

Remember fallout 3? They won't give it away for free because when it finally releases everyone will buy it. And they would have never made a deal with Microsoft if it wasn't financially to their benefit Anyway. They knew how big their game was and how much could be made on dlc for both systems and still chose to make a deal so it was probably for much more than they could make on ps3 or close. And they want lose much as most ps3 owners will cave and buy it. I did with fallout despite how unbelievably angry I was. And they may have mentioned 30 days but their deal may state that Xbox gets all dlc before ps3 gets any. We just don't know.

Wheres the latest update for the European ve
rsion of Skyrim everyone else got it two weeks ago what's going on?

Ruggadagod4260d ago

It's obvious they don't care about Playstation owners.

BiggCMan4260d ago

That could be part of it, but I think it's more about Microsoft's deep pockets to get that DLC like they do with Call of Duty.

lategamer4260d ago

I think if Microsoft paid them for the Dawngaurd exclusive, they would have stated so. They did have a timed exclusive agreement, but after that Dawngaurd could go to any platform (i.e. PC).

I think the reason Dawngaurd isn't coming or out on PS3 yet is because issues with the engine. Bethesda just didn't do a good job with optimizing it for PS3, and adding DLC prob. causes more issues and headaches, and the backlash isn't worth it to them.

AngelicIceDiamond4259d ago (Edited 4259d ago )

Yeah, but after a month the COD DLC hits Xbox, it becomes available for PS3 on time. At least Activision hasn't discriminated. But its Activision, I dunno if that's sayin much.

They say its bugs but the Xbox version has its fair share of problems as well as patches getting released simultaneously on both platforms.

Everyone knows Bethesda doesn't like PlayStation. And MS giving them money for timed exclusive DLC made it "Sweeter" for them.

I dunno why they're not releasing it for you guys.

brish4260d ago

The issue isn't a matter of caring, or not caring. The issue is Skyrim is a very complex game with massive amount of content which makes it very difficult to test.

Skyrim is having problems on all platforms.

HammadTheBeast4260d ago

And yet people still scream "GOTY!!!!"?

DragonKnight4260d ago

That really isn't an excuse. There are plenty of large complex games out there that have been handled a lot better than Bethesda is handling this. It's incompetence and greed.

shammgod4260d ago

Capcom created a huge open world game with many large enemies, tons of loot, NPCs, quests, and dungeons and had little to no technical problems. Stop defending Bethesda, they suck ass

Blacktric4259d ago

Who are you? The PR manager of Bethesda? Stop trying to justify crap like this. PlayStation consoles ALWAYS got the short end of the stick for all in-house developed Bethesda games. Fallout 3 was a horrible port with no pros against Xbox 360 version and same goes for Skyrim. Oblivion was ported by a Japanese game studio and New Vegas was done by Obsidian and had better textures at some parts in comparison to 360 version. Bethesda is just a flat out horrible developer that doesn't have any integrity. At all.

Christopher4259d ago

***The issue isn't a matter of caring, or not caring. The issue is Skyrim is a very complex game with massive amount of content which makes it very difficult to test. ***

Then treat all your customers equally and don't announce release dates until you've actually tested it on all platforms to a working standard.

Re: those who will say "why hold back people because of the PS3's issues?"

Because it's not actually the fault of the PS3 and the issue is with Bethesda's long-used engine and their inability to update it to be bug free on any platform let alone working as intended on the PS3. Issues that don't come up on other game engines used to develop third-party games across the same platforms.

Actually that would be a good idea but realistically it wont happen. If Bethesda is having a hard time getting Dawngaurd out of the gate, I'm pretty sure they will have a hard time getting the next DLC out also.

cyberninja4260d ago

I've never finished any game from Bethesda so they can shove that dlc up their ass, they not getting my money.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

anast17d ago

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22917d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko17d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

The 7 Best Western RPGs: Immersive Adventures

RPGs are often huge, sprawling endeavours. With limited playtime, we have to choose wisely, so here's the best western RPGs available today.

SimpleSlave17d ago

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan17d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave17d ago (Edited 17d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
