Wrong hobby..knitting sounds more your speed..

Don't like sports games then don't buy em' (which I'm sure you NEVER did)..but to pretend they ALL need to die is IMO idiotic.

Only Tiger Woods and Madden are "major" on the list.

Live hasn't even been out for a while, and has been replaced by the 2K series(not listed), as the premier basketball game.

The World Cup series is different from the FIFA series. They're arguing for an end to the former, not the latter. Interestingly enough, however, their complaint applies more to the standard FIFA title than to the World Cup games.

There are no baseball games mentioned at all, no racing games(F1 or NASCAR), and only one of the soccer/basketball franchises is mentioned(PES and 2K are left out, respectively).

I'm not agreeing that any of the mentioned franchises should "die," but instead of EVERY franchise, it's less than half.

I agree. Though this article, like evildead said, makes the writer sound like he doesn't play any of these games. I do agree that madden needs to die. Not for the nonsense written in the article. Not because its a horrible game (it isn't) or its redundant (which most annually released sports games are), Simply because they hold a monopoly on football. Which I thought were illegal. It needs to die so more companies can compete for top football game. Company competition will only help the games get better for the consumers. That's all I want, better games.

If competition is what you want then why do you want Madden to die? What needs to die is the exclusive license. That will allow competitors along with Madden to duke it out for the top football spot. It won't long before Madden goes the way of Live if that were to happen though. If madden dies I want it to be because it's competitor(s) out did them.

I think the World Cup and Euro versions of FIFA are finished, Euro 2012 came as DLC, and I bet they're planning to do that with every installment of FIFA now.

These franchises certainly don't need to "die".

Your probably upset with these games because their yearly hits...and here's why. It's just a tradition..nothing else. America has accustomed itself to have a new game every year for sports. Updating players, teams, and playstyles...it's all become the same game every year, but for the players of these games it's actually a new experience everytime.

So to think they need to die...I think your just mad that their selling...kind of like hating on Justin Bieber because he sells out like no other..hahaha

So the despite the title the theme seemed to be not so much "die" as rest or be updated in some massive way.

I singled the Tiger Woods game out, because I do think at this point they might as well go ahead and give it a name change and not focus so much on Tiger. Especially not as much as they did in this year addition.

Very poor article where the author didn't even bother to do research.

If the author is talking about just the World Cup iteration, that's not annual, but every 4 years, so I don't know if her complaints hold any weight on that.

If it's all the FIFA lines, they do have different modes in the game, such as playing as only one player through a career and a card-trading system to build your ultimate team.

I found it glaringly ironic that the author complains about series that need a break/rest because they basically punch out the same game each year with minor differences, and then her reason for each series listed is the same with minor re-wording.

I did do research and what I found is that the FIFA line is soccer and most of listed as World Cup. Perhaps I looked in the wrong places but I did look first.

i really don't get people who bought FIFA 10 then bought FIFA 2010 World Cup. They got ripped off.

As a Canadian, I'm happy to see that EA is pushing NHL 13 like every yearly title since 08. There's been a lot of improvement on NHL and this year iteration is no exception. But I gotta admit that Madden need some improvements. The same formula has been used for a couple of years now and the roster change is not enough for me to buy the new one.
NCAA, for my opinion, is better than madden.

Nothing needs to die...really. They just have to rebuild some franchises. NBA Live needs to bounce back from their horrible performance with NBA Elite 11. Mike Wang left EA, after that...they pretty much ruined the game. 2k needs competition otherwise they will probably become lazy, and I noticed that in NBA 2k12 this year. Too much mistakes shouldn't be there. From speed issues to fastbreak problems. I can only talk about basketball really. But NBA Live needs to come back, i don't care if they struggle this year, 2k needs competition. The market needs competition!

Fast break issues have been in NBA 2K for awhile now. Nothing irritates me more than a two on one fast break constantly failing because your other guard/forward will ALLOWS run to the three point line instead of to the basket with you...

FIFA and NHL games are far snd out EAs most fun and in depth sports games. I find madden boring, tiger was good years ago. NHL and soccer as sports allow you to express yourself more as a player

I don't really play any sports game lately other than FIFA but I think having an 'Ultimate Team' like mode on Madden and pretty much all sports game would be fantastic!!

For those unfamiliar with FIFA Ultimate Team; you pretty much either buy packs and build a team with the random players you get in those packs. Some are good, some great, some rare, some shitty! OR you go to the auction and bid on players to your specific liking (nationality, formation, league, etc) I would love to be able to build my own football team! *drooling*

I don't think anyone would complain about Fifa World Cup, Tiger Woods, or NBA Live, but Madden is far to popular to be cut off. Madden, NBA 2K, NHL, Fifa, and MLB The Show are the best game for their respected sport so they need to stay until a competitor dethrones it.

Find a new way to give you a soccer game? World cup games come out every four years....FOUR YEARS. Hardly a constant stream of them is there? also Fifa street. Research is key.
