Mario Kart Vs Diddy Kong Racing

TGC writes: Now there are some of you out there who are probably thinking, why on earth am I comparing these two games when Mario Kart has been so much more successful than Diddy Kong Racing? Having been released on every Nintendo console since the SNES, it has a pretty decent head start, I must agree.

However the bitter sad truth of it all, in my opinion, is that Diddy Kong Racing on the N64 was a far greater game.

Really wish they would remake this game in HD for xbla. I would absolutely effing love to play the Fire Mountain battle egg hunt on live with friends.

So simple and so fun = )

I preferred Diddy Kong Racing.

i loved both games, but diddy kong racing was just paradise growing up it was such a joy to play. the open world is what did it for me i loved that place, plus planes and different vehicles. i wanna play it right now...

I always preferred Diddy Kong and Crash Team Racing to Mario Kart games.

I'm going to take this time to ask...Why is it that 90% of the Nintendo sports, party, racer, and mash up titles are only Donkey Kong or Mario Bros related? I think we should get to see Metroid, Zelda, and other Nintty characters in a racer or sports game too. Outside of Smash, it's never everyone.

On topic. Mario Kart for DS is my fav racer of the series, but I loved both Mario Kart and Diddy Kong on 64.

The song for Hot Top Volcano haunts me to this day. Man the graphics on DKR were very advanced for its time. Love, love, love Mario Kart 64 (all of them) but why didn't the guys who worked on Mario Kart Wii throw in a couple of tracks from Mario Kart arcade? It seems like it would have been the icing on a most yummy cake! I'd love to spot a Mario Kart arcade machine.

Diddy Kong Racing: Nintendo's Other Kart Racing Series With 100% Less Wario

While the genre may currently be an oversaturated one, it’s interesting to look back on how the Donkey Kong franchise even got a racer to begin with, and what stopped Nintendo from ever releasing more entries.

Man, this would be the perfect title to bring next to the Nintendo 64 lineup on Nintendo Switch Online. This game was so good back in the day.

GOAT, best game of all time, never got the updated version / sequel is so much deserved,

sometimes though, as they say "never meet your heroes" to avoid disappointment,

so I look at it as, best left in the past and just enjoy the memories.

The_Hooligan68d ago (Edited 68d ago )

Really was a phenomenal game. I still remember being at my cousin's house and unlocking the spaceship, our minds were blown lol

Also hated that damn blubber the octopus boss.

EasilyTheBest68d ago

One of my all time favourite games

This was better than Mario Kart 64 but far for me. I loved the different vehicles and adventure aspect.

The single player was by far better than MK64, not sure about the multiplayer as I don't recall playing DKR with someone else.

The thing I noticed with DKR was that the enemy racers seem to hardly use power ups against you, but they are pretty aggressive in keeping pace or passing you so maybe that's why they made them use power ups less than MK.

FinalFantasyFanatic68d ago

I always remember DKR being hard as a kid compared to MK64, but I mostly played MK64 as a multi-player game, whereas DKR had a satisfying single player mode.

Absolutely loved DKR. Mario Kart, as much as I love it, has yet to really capture the magic of DKR. Better in some ways, worse in others.

Cool cool, can I get a plastic little watch that when you push a button you hear a "wahoo"? I can't afford to waste 4k on a watch right now, but maybe later.
