Splinter Cell Blacklist: 11-Minute Gameplay Video (Commentary)

IGN:

Go full-on stealth or sadistically twist the knife. Sam Fisher is angry!

Droid Control4264d ago (Edited 4264d ago )

No Michael Ironside, no sale.

And where's the stealth? All I see is that mark and execute crap

Lord_Sloth4264d ago

Not a single Stealth was given that day.

Wingsfan244264d ago

Lol, people make me laugh, do you honestly want them to spoil every bit of the game before you play it? Dead Space did the same thing, showed off all the action etc, and now with the latest trailer they presented horror. Blacklist is probably doing the same thing except with stealth. Don't judge a book by it's cover, or in this case first scenario you've seen.

Zha1tan4264d ago

No Michael Ironside and what is essentially an action shooter with barely any stealth.

Is this even splinter cell?

FreshRevenge4264d ago

didn't they all ready shown this at E3? I thought they did it all ready.

GamerElite4264d ago

They did. Don't know why their showing it again

FreshRevenge4264d ago

Two things that I am not happy with this series now. Michael Ironside isn't Sam Fisher and second is that they have totally abandoned the whole stealth aspect that made the game great.

I remember being in the dark and hiding in the shadows. I don't see any dark areas or shadows for Sam to hide in. I mean what is the point of having a pair of NVG if you are standing in the broad daylight?

The first 3 games were great, the others went into a direction that looks like COD or the Bourne Identity!

FarCryLover1824264d ago

Nothing wrong with daylight missions, they were in DA and PT and the games were great. This is COnviction 2.

Shadonic4264d ago

they did show a bit more this was just an updated version idk why they blanked out stuff on the screen we've already seen on the demo. I know there's still stealth in the game but everyone keeps viewing these demonstrations like streamlined COD missions where your supposed to be caught or you have to say go in from this way or use a mechanic like the mark and execute. When conviction forced you to use it it was only to put more of a player input into the cinematic kind of like in max payne where you can choose to kill the guy at the end or when you counter the guy with the machete its basically the same just tweaked a bit. I wish they did keep iron sides voice and mapped it over other guys facial expressions and lines. It would probably lessen the quality but fans would care more about the voice. They should just release a night mission with commentary but no mark and execute and killing just to show people that they didnt completely abandon stealth because everyone's over reacting.

Shadonic4264d ago

isent mark and execute something you can choose to use?

FarCryLover1824264d ago

Yes but the gameplay is made for you to use it. It's an integral part of the game and it is ridiculous.

clarkjudo4264d ago (Edited 4264d ago )

Yes, people tend get bent out shape on a option like this. I did use this option a few times when it was called for. I would mark the enemies first, and go stealth unless things suddenly get out of hand. I have plan B in place already (mark and execute already activated). People need to stop crying and fussing, and try getting creative instead.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - A Decade in the Shadows

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

CoNn3rB241d ago

Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years

kevco33241d ago

10 years, in fact. He must be, like, 60 by now?

phoenixwing241d ago (Edited 241d ago )

why make an inspired game that takes effort when you can half ass it with multiplayer gaas games and filler filled assassins creed games?

That question up there is the reason you don't see splinter cell games

zarbor241d ago

Yup, another example that Ubisoft has no idea what they are doing.

MIDGETonSTILTS17241d ago

The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.

It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.

The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.

The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?

FYouDad240d ago

Because Ghost is the method fans of the series actually prefer? IMark and execute is never forced upon the player you liiterally never have to bother using it even once throughout Blacklist.

Tody_ZA241d ago

The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.

Rikimaru-00241d ago

Isn't UBI Soft remaking splinter cell.

Sam Fisher Deserves Better

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "Ubisoft, we need to chat. Please, have a seat. Thanks. Ok, so I think you know why you’re here. No it has nothing to do with all those game delays, we’ll talk about that later. What? No it’s not about the Skulls & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 falling off the face of the Earth, just listen. We need to talk about Splinter Cell. Don’t give me that look, you know this conversation needs to happen. The way you’ve treated the series, its fans and poor Sam Fisher himself is sad, infuriating and just plain disappointing and it needs to stop."

The Fish!!!

I'd love to see a remastered edition of those games as well as something new. It's about time.

UltraNova1481d ago

MGS is done, at least as we know it so it's now or never Ubi, give Fisher the reboot it deserves. And for Gods sake, don't you dare turn Splinter Cell into another Division/Ghost reckon online abomination instead of a SP focused steath action game!

Psychonaut851480d ago

You know they will though. This is Ubisoft we’re talking about

zachyBROosevelt1481d ago (Edited 1481d ago )

I would love a new splinter cell, maybe even a reboot at this point. Sam Fisher deserves it

Profchaos1481d ago

I think reboot the entire franchise the games were great but every time they try to make him human like a father or something it comes of as unbelievable

hiawa231480d ago

They added damn near every SC game to Xbox1X back compat enahnced list. That is a lot of Sam enhanced and I am loving it, but Sam deserves a new next gen game.
