Is Sony really doing it right? Or are they beginning a trend that could lead to a missed concept of why HD Collections should be released?
Sony has recruited Bungie's head of revenue Jaremy Rich to head up its live-service gaming division, Rich has announced on social media.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I mean, this person made some pretty bad decisions at Bungie. I hope they've learned from them because I definitely don't see those type of ideas as good for PlaySation in general.
Ps5 gamers in 2023 seemed to play more live service types of games, so regardless to how people feel about them, numbers don’t lie and Sony is going where the money is. I mean look at the excitement around Helldivers2, people are showing that they want live service games.
How do you kill a franchise that already been killed?
Destiny’s grind, cash-in-on-playbass-cha-Ching, and pop-culture-insertion mainstream-me-too bs totally killed any rep Bungie had. Sony/Bungie, if you are doing this to ward-off players, it’s already working.
Sony has patented to add multiple dialogue modes to let players switch between how many conversations with NPCs they want in the game.
Sony is like the only ones outta the 3 that has atuff like like this pop up changing thing in ways.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
I do not think the inFamous collection is really a HD collection more just buying the series on one disc. inFamous sold well but not extremely well. The collection is for those who didn't originally buy inFamous and isn't for the same audience as the GOW HD collection (who people will buy to enjoy the PS2 versions in HD). Different markets
It definitely isn't an HD collection but that's mentioned in the article. HD collections have a purpose, whereas the inFamous collection release is just a reboxing with very little content.
You've hit the nail on the head right there. The people who will be tempted by the Infamous Collection are people that have never played either game before. Is it a bad thing to have choice? Never.
Nobody complained about the Uncharted bundle released in time for Uncharted 3 and it's fair to say that sales were enough to show that this sort of thing could be a success. People with the games digitally may be tempted to buy the collection. People looking to get rid of some of their games may trade in both current boxed items for both games on one disk. And for people who don't want to spend a huge amount on Infamous 2 (it can still be incredibly expensive), this will be a way of adding value to the price tag.
Choice is never a bad thing, whether it's something you feel is of value to you or not.
I agree with you mat, I just hope we don't see repackaging of games for the sake of profits and shelf space rather than to give gamers a wider selection of games not previously available on the PS3, especially considering inFamous 2 is free on PS Plus (which, in my opinion, should be pushed a lot harder on consumers than a $30 collection).
