I've got about 10 PSone classics I downloaded just for the Vita update! I couldn't resist that Final Fantasy sale a few months ago ^_^

FFIX is my favourite Final Fantasy
FFVII is a very close second but they're just so different to each other you have to own them both.
Heck if you have the cash get FF,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII,VIII,IX and X when/if we get a HD release. Also FFXII is a great game I just think it should of been a spin off. I'm not a fan of FFXIII or XIII-2.

Agreed. Not that I dislike IX at all, but I'd start with VIII or X.

Then again, if there was ONE you should play, I wouldn't. Because that's stupid. They're all such unique games that I'd either play them all, or play none. I'm still working on it, but I look forward to the day when I've owned and beaten every FF in the franchise.

Apart from XI, XIII, XIII-2 and XIV i have finished all numbered FF games and 8 and 10 is on the top of my head as Truly amazing games (FF5 is my favorite for other reasons)while FF9 had the classic feel but i didnt feel it was epic at all.

FF8 and FFX endings are truly memorable.

Final Fantasy IX is the first RPG I ever played; it introduced me to a whole new genre of video games. And I still to this day consider it one of the best video games I have ever played

It is probably just the way it goes for different people. For ME it was Final Fantasy 7. It was the first of the franchise I played, and of course before the reputation the game being overrated and the others that branched off of it have been received. I loved the game to pieces, especially Yuffie, Vincent, RedXIII and Cloud :). I still remember letting a friend around here borrow it and then finding out his mom had actually thrown the game out. Such a sad, sad tale.

I loved FF7,8,9 and 10 to pieces and KIND OF X-2...It wasn't all to bad. They all had their own way of being great :) It would be so hard for me to pick ONE Final Fantasy and recommend it because they all have their own impact on me.

Your experiences seem very similar to mine because 7 was also my first and favorite. Also, like you, I have enjoyed all of the FF's I've played since then (8, 9, X, X-2, XII, and XIII). Admittedly, I've enjoyed more than others, but each have had their good points with me.

FF9 was a bold and an amazing game.

I loved the shit out of 7 because it was my first of the series but damn 9 was perfect in sooo many ways. Everyone liked 8 but I felt it was disappointing in parts, mostly the draw system.

I could find things that I loved in about all of the FF's that I've played but FFVII would have to be my personal all-time favorite because, like you, that was my first FF that I've ever played. But I think the author is also right about 9 being a good place for someone who has never played FF to start. It had the perfect mix of quirky characters and a very good story to boot.

Good to hear, I haven't played 12 or 13 as I'm scared to (tried the FFXI MMO though heh, wasn't bad but VERY group oriented so I got nowhere fast). FF7 had the right mix of minigames, open world, side quests and everything...my goodness <33 :)

I agree with you that 9 being the right one to start on though, the more I thought about it (Vivi <33 hehe :) love that little mage). Still had an interesting card game and some interesting mini-games as well. Always loved getting the ultimate weapons in these games though through "hard-mode bosses" or something like it :D. I never did beat FF9 though <_< I got really close.

The draw system wasn't so bad. It does suck running out of magic at times though, and it being the basis on your stats, but hey I loved it and it was different :) :D <3. Hard for me to pick my favorite storyline though, they all were unique.

so funny how square enix try SO HARD making lighting look cool and promoting her and putting here in the middle oo anyone like shes the boss or something.

square enix need to start dealing with the fact that the majority dont give a crap about ligthing cloud wannabe.

give us noctis already so that piece of trash ff13 and ligthing can finally be forgoten once and for all.
