Awesome video, I cant wait to see more from the game

GribbleGrunger4274d ago

yeah, not bad, but he said it doesn't matter if you get hit. Yes it does, because everytime you get hit someone gets closer to their special. the strategy is to try and build your meter and stop others building theirs

smashcrashbash4274d ago

Exactly. I am surprised people keep saying this. If you get hit the other person gets a power boost. So you should at least try not to get hit. People still keep saying nothing happens. Yeah, nothing happens except you giving your opponents the edge and one step closer to your death.

What he means is that there is no direct consequence to getting hit, which is fair enough. I wouldn't say that it doesn't matter at all, but that feeling of "Oh crap, my position in the game is immediately worse off because I am taking a beating" isn't there in the same sense. People can beat the crap out of you only to do their super on someone else, leaving you just as you were

The way I think of it is that getting hit takes time away from my ability to get AP, and though it may not have a direct consequence on the enemy I am beating up (in Free For All), it has a direct consequence on my success overall. And in the end, it's my success I care about. This is a very offense-heavy game, so what you care about and what matters in the beta is going to bring in a different mentality IMO.

Not everybody is going to like the super system, and while I can argue otherwise, I can understand where the criticism is coming from. It's a first playthrough, so hopefully they can learn to appreciate it as they play. To be fair though, FFA timed mode is probably not going to be their strongest mode-- a lot of people are anticipating 2 v 2, 1 v 1, and the stock variations to be the most competitive, and I'd agree. Even SSB's best mode is not the default timed version

You will also have more success if you try to knock out the people close to the lead. In smash bros they usually gang up on the person with the most damage taken.

I don't get the hate for the different gameplay style. Give it a try first and there's a good chance you will have a blast with it. The online is amazing even with a small character list.

DarkHeroZX4274d ago

Well being in the beta all I have to say is yes getting hit matters. All I gotta say is lv3 sly..... broken as hell! You can easily get 6+ kills with his lv3 attack.

Battle Royalle feels quite competitve and as a faster pace than Super Smash brothers since its all a matter of getting power to win so you have to be sure you hit your opponents pretty hard to get there as fast as possible.

Every match always ends with a final atack thats what makes it awesome.

Scrafty3694274d ago

It looks faster than Brawl for sure, but nowhere near as fast as competitive Melee and 64.

DarkHeroZX4274d ago

Melee wasn't that fast paced. Its the same as brawl, knock your opponent out of the ring to win.

Scrafty3694273d ago

Reply to DarkHeroZX:
No, Melee is VERY fast-paced. Brawl is extremely slow.

LeoDDestroyer4273d ago

Brawl and Melee both seem to be at the same speed to me. The only difference I feel is that Melee the characters are not as floaty as in Brawl. Melee seem to have more weight to the characters to me.

HebrewHammer4274d ago

I love it so much. The beta really alleviated any concerns I had. Now I just hope the roster is packed, and I'm set!

dam cant wait to play online in this game

Though PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale is a bit of a cult classic, it could have been a big hit if it launched in 2022 instead of 2012.

It wouldn't have mattered, Sony would've rushed it out and left it to die. More so now than before with their focus now being on SP narrative driven AAA games.

CrimsonWing69520d ago

Oh, but somehow Smash Bros. 64 made it work?

It just couldn’t compete with Smash Bros. and it wasn’t a free-to-play game like Multiversus.

PapaBop520d ago

I think it released at the right time. It's just after the success of Smash and Multiversus, it's finally time for a sequel.

spoonard520d ago

I'd be all in on a remake or remaster of the original. I enjoyed it because I didn't sit there and compare every aspect to SSB. I just enjoyed it as it was.

Magatsuhi520d ago

Sony should make part 2 and dump a good amount of money on it. Scrap super only kills and it's bound to succeed.

Father__Merrin520d ago

Yes the power kills spoilt it completely WTH was they thinking you should have hp bar that's it

God of War: Ragnarok Weirdly Makes PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Canon

God of War: Ragnarok has plenty of fun references to PlayStation history, but now fans have discovered a conversation that calls back to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale — the crossover fighting game released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

Nyxus527d ago

I wouldn't say canon. More like an easter egg.

Deathdeliverer526d ago

That’s interesting. It actually does make it canon lol. He mentioned it in a mainline game. I’d say that’s pretty cool.
