Just last month, CD Projekt RED co-founder and joint CEO Marcin Iwinski commented on the unfortunate state of DLC in today's modern game industry as well as his company's belief that DLC should provide a full add-on experience to players paying extra cash rather than force them to pay for something that should have been included on-disc at launch. "Sadly I see the industry trending toward over-exploiting the gamer, and I think this will come back to the publishers that are doing that, and eventually, people will stop buying their stuff," he said.
CD Projekt RED's CEO Marcin Iwinski crowned Rockstar, Blizzard and Bethesda as the top three [RPG] developers, though one will have to go to make way.
I agree with Rockstar and Bethesda but imo he should have put his own company among these top three like come on now.
i disagree....Naughty Dog , FromSoftware and Sony 's Japan Studio or Nintendos internal studios ...these are the top game developers imo ....game developers must be judged on quality not quantity
PS .. i would also add Capcom s former self ..(90s-early 00's) ...Capcom was literally saturated nursery of talents that time
Yet his choice were based on them being independent Studios from the look of the names
@llFloodyll let me clarify none owned by a platform maker , unlike naruga comment which mentions ND & Sony's Japan studio .
@ScorpiusX
None of them are Independent, Rockstar is owned by TakeTwo, Bethesda by Zenimax and Blizzard by Activision-Blizzard.
There's two sides to the argument for sure. Naughty Dog and the first party studios definitely go for quality over quantity but as an RPG fan, I have to say quantity is a form of quality. It's not just value for money, it's a representation of the amount of freedom and choice one has in a game, something that linear games can't really offer.
As far as polish goes Nintendo and Sony (including Naughty Dog) are the forerunners, but it's Bethesda, and only Bethesda really, that still attempts to create AAA games with fully cohesive interactive worlds, where you can be whoever you want, go wherever you want, do whatever you want, wherever you want, however you want - attack any NPC, etc., which is why their games seem a lot less "polished". It's a different kind of "quality".
Then there are studios that do their best to find a happy medium between extreme polish and extreme freedom like Rockstar, CD Projeckt Red, and From Software.
I respect all of these developers equally and recognise that they all have their own definition of quality.
Why do you put Japan Studio up there? I can't really think of much they have done on there own that has totally panned out. Maybe I'm forgetting something. Mine would probably be ND, Rockstar, and blizzard. Even though not all the games from the three always speak to me I think the quality is of a level you can't really ignore. Bethesda I would say the quality needs to improve on some things, I think CDPR's last game shows that to some extent.
This is dumb.
Guy just likes open word games then. Bethesda while they put out quality it's, always buggy. I'd put project red and rockstar in my top 5. ND, bungie, and nintendo have put out major high quality games.
>>>>>imo <<<<<
Nah, Ive definitely enjoyed playing Rockstar, Bethesda and Blizzard games more than anything ND, From Software or Sony japan have put out. Think of the games those companies make and how many hours of your life have gone to them. From GTA, Diablo to Elderscrolls series. 1000hrs.....
errrrr not really.
Naughty Dog might be the only top studio you named.
I like From Software and Sony's Japan Studio, but I would never really call those "top studios" or anything like that.
Rockstar, Bethesda are huge top studios that are not the norm of game development or recognition. MOST game developers won't have that type of appeal or mass fan base.
Bethesda shipped 12 million units of Fallout 4 in a single day.....
Not the norm of a RPG, not even slightly.
Rockstar moved 55 million units of GTAV......again, NOT the norm of game sales, not even a little bit, both did this was ridiculous number of GOTY awards.
You may not like em, sure.....but its pretty insane to really try to downplay their significance in the market.
@IIFloodyII- with Bethesda, yes and no.
The head of the team of Bethesda owns Zenimax...
naughty dog are superb at making one type of game ( cimematic single player storys ) but they haven't made a game that people put over 200 hours into like gta or skyrim
I love Uncharted.. but.. is it really an RPG game? That's what this article is about right?
Read the title first "The World's Top Three [RPG] Developers"..
I personally don't like any of these because i'm not much into occidental RPGs, my top 3 RPG makers are obviously japanese:
Enix
Tri Ace
Level 5
@Voiceofsoi
Fallout 4 was very restricted as an RPG. Very shallow leveling, you have a very set path for a story, not much loot, but a great mod system, and ass for DLC.
It's his opinion and not one I agree with. Id, Naughty Dog and CDPR are it for me, with Fromsoft moving in and out of each one, depending how I feel at the moment.
Why is it a crime when it his opinion. Your opinion will certainly always differ from someone elses. Theres no wrong or right answer.
List yours and someone will disagree with your list.
Agreed. Clearly games influence people in different ways in this translate to their opinion.. hence why you shouldn't take opinion pieces as fact.
@MachuchalBrotha316
Yes, but even opinion you can bring facts into the mix such as average scores of games and such. While it is his opinion Bethesda is on there, their total lifetime average of games is a 76 which doesn't come close to some of the other developers.
Rockstar and Blizzard are the best. Bethesda is shit, i would take Naughty dogs, Nintendo internal studios or CDPR over Bethesda anyday of the week.
Lol Bethesda is crap. They introduced the stupid DLC skins. they have buggy ass games. Fallout 4 runs like **** on PC. They are giving PC gamers a free Skyrim HD remaster yet the console players have to pay. They're season pass for Fallout 4 was crap.
ND is an internal, first party studio. They don't fit the comparison. CDPR is referring very obviously to massive multiplatform devs with huge IPs and that are very successful. They're two very different things. Not to mention it wouldn't make sense for them to say "We want to get to where ND is", unless they're talking specifically about some game design element or character animation or something specific to the game experience.
Blizzard, Bethesda and Rockstar make perfect sense in this comparison. Naughty Dog or any other exclusive studio wouldn't make sense here.
Well...CD Projekt Red ARE probably the best dev studio out there making RPGs. Why not include yourself among the best when you are considered to be the best by a lot of people?
I think EA and Activision would argue with this. Especially since one makes the best selling game series of the past decade.
The point is there are two very big publishers that would take severe exception to the list.
But they don't make very good games. Just bc ppl flock to them without even thinking first just shows they own a very ignorant fan base. Ppl that don't care to pay for the same exact games over and over. When they do change things it's never for the best. Those 2 companies are known for not listening to their consumers. They don't care about how good their games are...
@Brad- "But they don't make very good games"
Sooooo gamers just buying air orrrr?
Bethesda no. Their games are showing their age now. While Skyrim was amazing The Witcher beats it in every way. Bethesda needs a new engine.
Rockstar and Blizzard are hard to argue against always delivering quality products.
For me Naughty Dog are there as well. Nintendo should be acknowledged cause their games when made internally are always fantastic.
Well, Fallout 4 is still a pretty good game though I agree that The Witcher 3 is superior. But Bethesda made history with some games in the past.
Like Witcher 3?
https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Sooo why is many love ignoring this games issues? lol
You can't compare the two games when it comes to the glitches. Beth games hold the crown and set the bar too high for anyone but Ubisoft to come close to.
@EDMIX
Okay, so a weird, creepy glitch means it is trashed with glitches when Fallout 4 has many game breaking glitches? Originally Witcher 3 had a few glitches and very few game breaking glitches, which are mostly patched out. Fallout 4 is still a mess. Hell, Skyrim and New Vegas are glitchy messes, and I love both of those over F4. Fallout 4 also looks and runs worse on console and PC at times due to not only mediocre optimization, but an old engine that NEEDS an update this next game.
Just change Bethesda for CD Projekt RED and add Naughty Dog as the fourth horsemen.
CDPR is already in the upper echelons of the dev world, with the Witcher series alone. I just think they need to craft a new game-universe to prove their mastery and Bethesda will be straight out of the picture. Fallout 4 is the epitaph of a once-great developer who is now simply behind the curve.
Cyberpunk 2077, with any luck, will solidify CDPR with "legendary" status.
I'll agree when they can show they are able to put decent magic systems in their rpg's. Cyberpunk will definitely not be for me so until they improve that magic system I can't put them on this list. Witcher was great but Skyrims magic was better than Witchers combat.
LMFAO!
https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Sure....
Fallout 4 moved 12 million units in 1 day.
Took Witcher 3 2 weeks to move 4 million.
Both are great games btw, but "Bethesda will be straight out of the picture" makes ZERO factual sense bud.
CDPR has a ways to go before they even come close to Bethesda status bud. Bethesda is charging full price for a 5 year old remaster.......
Simply because they know they can get those sales, though I'm not getting it based on buying way too many games in the next few months and having no time, I'm still going to get it down the line as its likely many will.
CDPR doesn't have that now, they can't re-release Witcher 2 with mods at full price and have it do Skyrim numbers....
Love the team, but we all know their only good game is Witcher 3 in regards to AAA status and even that launch with many, many issues.
Cyberpunk 2077 is going to sell like crazy.
Just look at the jump from Witcher 2 to Witcher 3. Everyone knows about the studio now (by everyone you know what I mean). Couple that with all the good will that they've shown towards the gaming community, the excellent value for money, and the fact that their game was rated one of the best RPGs of all time.
If they keep this up, they'll get there soon enough. They've already sold around 10 million copies of The Witcher 3, which is nothing to scoff at.
I didn't mean financially, I meant in terms of being acclaimed and respected by the RPG community
Bethesda had the sales... CDPR has the awards, gamers recognition and now have a game that sold 10 millions copies and its just their 3rd game. How many devs rose to the top as fast CDPR?
"Bethesda is charging full price for a 5 year old remaster"
Something that CDPR wouldn't do because it goes against everything they stand for.
"Love the team, but we all know their only good game is Witcher 3 in regards to AAA"
Have you forgotten about Witcher 2?
"that launch with many, many issues."
And you say that when you are comparing CDPR with a studio that is often called "bugthesda" and still uses one of the shittiest engines in gaming? A studio that makes games that the modding community has to fix because they can't be bothered to fix their own game? At least CDPR does everything to fix their own game.
Cause sales mean quality. CDPR doesn't need to update Witcher 2 as the game still looks better than Skyrim.
Rockstar deserve to be there but Bethesda over their company ? Witcher 3 put everything they make to shame.
I'd replace Blizzard with Naughty dog and if I had to pick a 4th studio it would be Rocksteady.
Go home CDPR you're drunk... They're not even on the same level of Ubisoft, Square Enix and Capcom or heck even SEGA who despite having many backlash still managed to release more than 3 good games. last gen. CDPR are on the same level as say Eidoes Montreal, Crystal Dynamics, Atlus or something. I'd put FromSoftware, Nintendo or hell I'd put NoodleCake studios, a mobile developer who've made some of the best mobile games instead
Too bad Ubisfot, Square, and Capcom suck now. Maybe Before 2007 or 90's in general but... Not in today's world.
My list
1. Rockstar
2. Naughty Dog
3. Blizzard
4. Mario/Zelda Nintendo team
5. Bungie
6. Bioware
7. Bethesda
8. Respawn
9. CD Project
10. Irrational (what are they now?)
I'd personally put Bethesda above Bioware, but your list is pretty much how I feel regarding top teams. I would squeeze Square's Final Fantasy team along with Kojima's main team in the top 3 though lol
https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Square's main FF team just isn't the norm of game development. You get those elite top teams that are only a very, very small handful.
I regards to former Irrational games teams...
https://www.youtube.com/wat...
and
https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Cdpr and playground games need to be there both making the best RPG and racing games ever made
Totally agreed with Playground Games by far having the crown for best racing developer. Polyphony or even T10 themselves don't even come close.
Criterion could've been the greatest *sheds tear*
Not so much, imo.
R* - Would have said yes a few years back, but with their money hungry attitude recently, focusing entirely on the online portion of GTA5 and virtual currency, while completely ignoring the single player. Good games but crap company attitude.
Blizzard - Diablo 2 was one of my all time favorite games, so after the shitstorm of disappointment in Diablo 3, i'm currently in a hate-hate relationship with Bliz.
Bethesda - As fun as their games are while functioning, the fact they are still insistant on using a pre-historic 32bit bugfest of an engine prevents me from putting them anywhere near the top 3. A good developer does not rely on gamers to fix their shit for them.
So humble. They are in the same league as rockstar, I don't care what anyone says.
They've been going downhill since Oblivion. 10 years ago I would definetely put them among the best as I would Bioware but not today.
To clarify for those who can't be bothered to read the article, he states that these are what he believes to be the top 3 RPG devs and they hope to dethrone one in the future.
You Role play as the three main protagonists or the MP protagonist with stats to level and things to customize in a open world. That is a RPG.
Everyone talking crap about Bethesda will come crawling back when ES6 comes out like babies to a #$#. Skyrim already sold 1.3 billion lets just add another .7 billion so it will be 2 billion. I'm going to laugh when all you naysayers buy the next Elders game and make them even richer.
As long as they don't continue to dumb down their games and return to Oblivion level of depth, then sure. But after Fallout 4 I am going to be more cautious.
I respect his opinion.
Now, here's why I believe Naughty Dog are the best Game Developers in the World.
Even if your not a fan of their games, there's no denying ND has a pedigree unlike anyone else. Last generation they really did create some of the most remarkable video games ever made.
Uncharted 2, for instance, is still considered one of the greatest video games of all time & one of my personal favorite video games ever. The story is still a thing of beauty, the gameplay is still really good & holds up well, and those set-pieces still put most set-pieces from other games to shame "in my opinion"
Moving to my personal favorite video game of all time. Also a game by Naughty Dog, The Last of Us. This game is truly a special gem. It forever changed how I look at acting performances in games. Every person Joel & Ellie came into contact with another survivor, whether it be in a cutscene or gameplay were believable to me. The NPC's that Joel & Ellie fight weren't just your average bad guys/clueless enemy. They survivors to me, just like Joel & Ellie were. They were smart, and had me featuring for Ellie's life. The AI wasn't perfect, but what it did do is bring a level of immersion & realness I've ever seen before. The acting was pure perfection "in my opinion" and the gameplay was great, solid, intense & brutal.
Lastly, Uncharted 4, which came out earlier this year is another remarkable achievement by those wonderful people/gamers/developers at Naughty Dog. While it didn't surpass The Last of Us, for me, in becoming my favorite video game of all time, it certainly is second. Clearly the success of TLoU helped & inspired Naughty Dog to deliver a more real/grounded story for Uncharted 4. ND has grown as a studio & they wanted the characters to grow & change, as well. Drake, for example, has grown a lot since the first Uncharted game. He's been throw a lot & apart of him wants to settle down & live his life with his wife, Elena. He still has that desire deep down to go on 1 more adventure looking for treasure. But, he realizes now more than ever what's at risk. He made a promise that he was done with that life of treasure hunting ect. Video game characters "in my opinion" are more enjoyable & believable when there's actual growth in the characters that you've had in your life for years.
In the end, Naughty Dog's brilliance in storytelling is on another compared to anyone else's "in my opinion" They know how to create video game characters that are believable & real to the gamer. They strive for perfection with each video game they make. Will they ever hit complete perfection across every element in their game, no. They've said that themselves. But, they get the closet to delivering pretty near flawless SP experiences that shine bright across the board.
Much respect to Rockstar, CDPR & Quantic Dream. Few other studio's who absolutely amazing work.
P.S. Yes, I put Quantic Dream in there, lol. I loved HR & Beyond so much, regardless of their flaws =)
Title is misleading he was talking about top three role playing game developers only and that one has to go because he believes Witcher 3 earned them one of the spots which I Def agree with and would take Bethesda out of there fallout 4 just wasn't very good.
ND because
1. They consistently produce top quality games.
2. They are prolific and produce games at a faster rate than others despite having a much smaller team than say Rockstar and Bethseda. U2 only took them 18 months for example
3. They win just as many if not more awards than any other dev
4. They consistently take on new challenges and take more risk than other devs. Crash, Jak, Uncharted, TLOU all iconic IP's.
Rock Star is so big that they publish some of their own games. Blizz is just as big. Yet when it comes to ND they managed to punched way above their weight.
Even now Rockstar, Blizz and Betheseda are still using the same IP's hey had before. ND on the other hand has just warped up Uncharted.
Shows ND are at the top of their game to not continue to milk their top franchise like others because they know they can only do better which they have. That is the mark of a top dev house.
Best independent studios yes
Overall ND are the best followed by R*
I like Bethesda buy your hands launch with that many bugs than you aren't running for best anything
These following are also some of the best in no particular order
From software
Sony Japan
Nintendo internal studios
Turn 10 forza
Kojima
Cd project red
Sony Santa Monica
I think it's truly disrespectful when anyone talks about next game studios and ND aren't on it. How many game of the year awards do they have to win?
As gamers even if our inner fanboy won't let us even than we have to give credit where it's due
You mean to tell me if nd were free agents that every publisher wouldn't wine and dine them?
do you even know how big sony japan really is? please do some proper research
it's one of the biggest development house in gaming
Sony just moved their main sony gaming headquarters from japan to california so yah....
Sony Japan?
I digress, aprt from U2 and TLOU, ND games have never won the GOTY.
Also note that TLOU was released in 2013, a year where games were literally pathetic and still by popularity choice GTA V had taken the crown (Maybe due to it's multiplatform nature, but as it stands, GTA V sold the most on PS3) and Bioshock Infinite also had some amount of following. As for Uncharted 2, again 2009 was full of lacklustre games apart from a few. Other than that 20011 (Uncharted 3's year) was filled with top notch games Batman AC, Portal 2, Skyrim, Deus Ex, Crysis 2, Bastion and in 2007 (Uncharted 1) there were Bioshock, Crysis, COD MW and Halo 3 (The best games in their respective franchises).
Misleading headline! I actually read the article.
CEO dude specifically said top three --> RPG <-- developers, NOT top three developers overall. Change that headline before all hell breaks loose, lol.
Sorry but I disagree with those. Naughty Dog is clearly on the top three. Naughty Dog can make wonders. Not saying they are bad but not top 3.
To me FromSoftware, Larian, Obsidian, Stoic and of course CDPR are the best at doing RPGs right now.
If some of you read he stated top rpg devs lol not top devs. We all know naughty dog obliterates the competition :)
How is Rockstar a top RPG developer? I don't recall the studio[s] releasing any RPGs.
He said "RPG" developers, guys.
ND makes action adventure games.
I would argue that some smaller devs, like Obsidian, makes better RPGs than the ones he listed, though. And CDPR, frankly, is better than the ones he listed as well, and he works there!
Skyrim, while awesome to look at and explore, is not the most stellar game, per se. Diablo is too derivative, too unoriginal (it's Rogue/Nethack/Moria -- all of which were deeper, game-wise), and Rockstar... well GTA isn't a RPG. Not sure what he's getting at there.
My top three *well known* RPG devs would be BioWare, Obsidian, and CDPR. They all make better games than the ones he listed. I'd put FromSoftware up there to, maybe as an honorable mention.
He musta not played Divinity Original Sin then if hes only talking about rpg devs, hopefully Larian knocks it out the park again with the sequel later this year.
Blizzard is pretty decent,. Rockstar does not know RPGs and Bethesda just sucks on so many levels.
As far as RPGs go,.. there is only Fromsoftware,.. Everyone else is so far behind it is not even funny.
0 story telling is what you call RPG specialists? I agree that From Software's games have some of the best gameplay around, but storytelling is almost absent and while I appreciate the story through exploration, sometimes it becomes tedious.
The lore is some of the best of all time imo and requires intelligence, patience, and attention to even see some of the lore. I never found the story through exploration tedious as the information and environments were always interesting and mysterious. But to say 0 story telling is BS, the game doesn't hold your hand in gameplay or in lore, which makes it unique. Also it is one of the few games where I am unsure of what will happen to my character when 90% of other RPG's I could predict what will happen. Lest for Witcher, Kotor, and Mass Effect.
Bethesda makes glorified action loot-fests and are only a shadow of the in-depth world builders they used to be. Blizzard is all over the place. Release a few games a decade and the only RPG they've recently released needed a giant overhaul to be truly enjoyable. Rockstar, as great as they are, don't make what I would call roleplaying experiences. Lots of freedom, but not too much freedom to shape the world to your character and the character to the world.
Witcher 3 was a fantastic mix of deep mechanics and engaging gameplay. I found it to be easily one of the best contributions to the genre in a very long while.
I agree with your Bethesda comments; I still don't think that they've managed to top Morrowind yet. Oh, how I'd love an official remaster of that game.
Overrated, grind fest ,lack of good story, walk through cars, empty environments, great gameplay = chronicles x.
I loved it man. I do however much prefer Xenoblade Chonicles. I'd go so far as to say that's one of the best RPGs of the last decade. This is all purely opinion though, as I also consider that one of my favorite games of all time.
The title is NOT misleading. Read the quote again, or even watch the interview.
He says that they wanted to be among the top 3 rpg devs for the last five years, and he things they have already achieved that, The Witcher 3 being proof of that.
Then he goes on to talk about top 3 game devs in the world, atleast in their perception. That's where they aim to be.
Also, a lot of people bringing up Naughty Dog - they're a playstation exclusive studio. Remember that things like sales and the size of the IP are being taken into consideration when he's talking about the top 3. All of them are multiplatform devs with HUGE IPs much bigger than Uncharted (although that's an unfair comparison at a lower level, you get my point)
And the fact that they're exclusive... CDPR don't use that comparison because they want to be a huge multiplatform dev. It's two different things. It wouldn't make sense for them to say - "we want to get to where Naughty Dog is", because ND is a Sony exclusive studio. The status that Blizzard, Bethesda and Rockstar have - that's what they want, and it's different to what Naughty Dog is.
I don't think I've ever seen a R* RPG game, all their games are action as far as I know, someone explain this, please.
Obsidain, bioware,cd project red. When i saw bethesda i laughed so hard. The havent make a great game since 2003.The other two arent great either, especially rockstar.
My fav developers (Not in any order);
1. CDPR- The Witcher franchise
2. Square Enix- The revival of Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and Sleeping Dogs
3. Valve- Half Life, Counter Strike and Team Fortress
4. Rockstar- GTA, Red Dead, Max Payne and LA Noire
5. Bioware- Mass Effect, SWTOR, Bioshock
Honorable mentions:
Epic Games, Nintendo, Kojima's games, Bethesda.
The man's allowed an opinion since he works in the industry and perhaps his dealings with his top three choices have been favorable and or he could praising the type of games he enjoys.
CDPR is my n.1 rpg developer. Than comes From Software and a tie between blizzard and square.
Rockstar makes RPG's? GTA and Red Dead are both open world action games not RPG's.
several sony studios should be ahead of blizzard and bethesda. Bethesda has some "good" games but really what they have done lately?
Following the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, expectations for CD Projekt Red’s upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 are insanely high, and CDPR is aware of that.
Why do I feel like fapping every time I see that image of that sexy cyborg lady.
Unlike Bethesda....in every game they make, they lower the bar...lets hope they will try a bit more for the next Elder Scrolls,game...lazy cashgrabbing liars...they charged more than twice the price of the witcher expansion pass for shitty as$ dlcs with no real substance or care put into them....and they have the nerve to charge 50€ for them...
And they are always buggy and not in the least polished.......
HURRAH FOR CD PROJECT RED!!!
Keep being awesome and honest and you'll get our money again! :-)
Edit:Downvote all you want that's the truth about shitty tactics of lazy Bethesda...the more you support their "efforts" the more shitty games you'll get....skyrim was good oblivion was better and morrowind the best of them all...
As for the guy comparing one of the 3 worst developers around (ubisoft, EA,Activision) with Cdpr is just sad....even if you encountered so many bugs wich I honestly didn't they supported and still support the hell out of the game...the only problem I admittedly had with the witcher on ps4 was with the framerate wich was fixed within a few weeks.Unlike ubishit who stopped supporting Rainbow six siege after less than a year, while the division which was supposed to be the change of an Era for them is just another buggy glitchy mess without any real depth or story...not even gonna bother mentioning the assassin's creed franchise and how it ended up...if you want to keep buying faulty, shitty, buggy, glitchy, unfinished, rushe d games then keep supporting ubisoft noone is gonna stop you and noone cares...the way our gaming industry has ended up filled with unfinished games yet full priced and riddled with microtransactions is to be blamed to people who support these practices and noone else....
And downvote me to oblivion that's not gonna change anything....if you want to vote somehow do it with your wallets. If you believe CDPR didn't deserve your money then don't buy their next products...and the same goes for ubisoft and any other developer out there...
I haven't bought a single game from ubisoft,EA or Activision the last 6 years because I don't like nor support their practices.
As for Bethesda I got burned so bad with fallout that I'm gonna wait for the next game they make to release be reviewed and then maybe I'll buy it cheap if it's worth it.even if it's elder scrolls...
? CDPR...please do not release Cyberpunk 2077 like you guys released Witcher 3..RIDDLED with bugs and glitches!
https://www.youtube.com/wat... wait for withcer 3 glitches on this vid

Funny thing, they had a corrupt save issue on PS4 that ruined my 40 hour game....
http://www.gameinformer.com...
This game was JUST AS BAD as Unity if not in some cases worse! Lost an entire game save due to this games bugs. They didn't set crap! If they cared about their community and the industry, they would have not launched Witcher 3 in the state in which it was launched. It was literally unplayable for me and when it was playable, my save was corrupted. Not getting any of their games day 1 ever again, I dealt with that with all their games at launch since Witcher 1, but this was by FAR the worst in regards to bugs.
Sounds like many of you guys basically gave this team a pass yet when Unity launched, it was some outrage, yet Witcher 3 literally launched the same way. With downgrades, bugs, glitches, broken quest and corrupt saves.
SHAME FOR BOTH Ubisoft and CDPR for releasing their games in the state the did. Witcher 3 is funny enough STILL A YEAR LATER RIDDLED with bugs.
Please don't compare Ubisoft with CDPR, even though there is no denying that WT3 released with bugs at least CDPR is actively supporting the game with patches and content, which is something that Ubisoft never does for a single player game. Try and play Unity on the PC, see how well that will go for you.
Aaaaaand here we go. Another cdpr article and we got edmix back with his hate comment. Just as the salt_AU guy from gamespot forum.
It's funny that when majority of people love something there's always a vocal minority who love to make situation complex. The game was excellent, waaaaay less buggy than unity lol.
Hmm.. I didn't really have a problem playing either game. AC Unity was somewhat more buggy than The Witcher 3 for me, but nothing gamebreaking or significant. The Witcher 3 was pretty solid for me from day 1. I saw a couple minor glitches with NPCs, but that's about it. I think by the time I got to some of the later quests with bugs they had already been patched out or something. Played both on PC by the way.
@sleepyhead-
"waaaaay less buggy than unity" I wouldn't know to the degree of which is more broken bud. The fact that it comes down to a degree of is enough to say they can be compared. You are not saying its NOT, you are merely saying its "less" "than" sooooo I"m not sure how you are not getting the comparison considering how both titles launched.
For gods sake, some of the bugs ARE THE SAME! They BOTH have missing FACES! lol
"majority of people love something" Thats nice. Was I suppose to base my opinion on my experience with its bugs and brokenness based on peer pressure?
I love the series, but I won't just pretend Witcher 3 launched with roses and perfection. Not when I have a corrupted file TWICE and saw a series of glitches during my sessions. Yet folks again where making it seem as if Unity was the only title to launch in such a condition.
Sorry but both launched a mess and broken, the degree of is irrelevant to me as launching in that state is bad enough, regardless of how much of.
Sorry I'm not jumping for joy after losing a 40 hour game, just to lose another 10 hour game right after, from the same bug. I don't really have the patience to keep replaying a game, hoping it works. Kool for those who didn't get this bug on their game, but for those who did.....you have a right to be upset. I don't butt kiss developers bud, mind you, I've bought the Witcher series day 1 since its released...
Doesn't mean I'm going to get on my knees for them bud. When its THIS bad, I'm going to say something.

But hey bud "majority of people love something" right bro? /s Don't you think that maybe some had issues with this game evident by the post and videos even Gameinformer's editor had issues with the game, so bad he wrote this.

I still like the series, I'll still buy games from CDPR, but seriously.. they need to address this issue. Just because I like the game, doesn't mean I'm a sheep and just going to pretend nothing happened. They can do better bud. Stop ignoring those videos and users that had and still have issues with this game...
@IHass- "I don't have many of the bugs and glitches in my game as you're claiming." Thats nice bud...
Not really a claim if you consider you can just google or watch on youtube people's issue with the game like any other game...
@Mariusmssj "Please don't compare Ubisoft with CDPR" just did bud.
I'm sorry but both launched with bugs and glitches evident by the real EVDIENCE online about there issues. ie missing faces and such lol

Sooo yea, please keep ignoring facts if it helps you sleep at night. I got Witcher 3 day 1 and dealt with a series of bugs and glitches and one that ultimately messed my game up TWICE. I'm not the only one, you can merely google the issues yourself bud.
"CDPR is actively supporting the game with patches" So did Unity after it released. Did you think Unity just go zero patches and zero post launch content? They both got post launch support, both got patches.
Both dealt with the whole "downgrade" thing, both launched with buggy, glitchy games. Mind you, I never bought Unity, I only got Witcher 3...
Um....sure.

lets hope they learn from their mistakes from Witcher 3...
ie no more downgrade please, lets launch without corrupted saves, broken quest, missing limbs, faces, invisible people etc Its hard to play a game when you're not even sure if you could save......
Makes it really hard to trust the team in the future. Best of luck to those who didn't have the same issue that I had, it literally stopped me from playing. I don't have the time to go back and re-do 40 to 50 hours of a game because the developer screwed up. Its not a bad game, but its hard to gauge how great it is when you're file corrupts TWICE even after a save.
Once with a very ,very long 40 hour playthrough, AGAIN literally days later when I had to start over around 10 hours. I heard the issue is resolved and fixed on all platforms, but I was also told this the first time sooooooooo
I might go back and start over as I don't think the issue will happen again after pretty much a year almost, if it does, I seriously don't see me beating this game.
Might be the first time I've ever been stopped playing a game due to too many bugs. Seriously folks, not even Fallout or Elder Scrolls such a thing has happened to me and those games are FULLED with bugs.
Marcin Iwinski sees a bright future for CD Projekt's GOG Galaxy, even in a world where Steam and UWP exist.
I love the guys working at CD Projekt RED. Hell I would buy ten copies of The Witcher 2 if I had the money. But seriously, this developer truly obtained my support and respect.
We know we are. Companies are greedy and acting entitled to our cash. They need to stop dictating what we are entitled to. The customer is always right. ALWAYS! No exceptions.
Entitled greed isn't going to fly forever. Ask Capcom and their SF X T flop. Free DLC is a good way to get customers on your side. Good on them. People will keep buying their stuff.
I am not against dlc by any means. It's a good way for players to expand the games they enjoy, and it's a good way for developers to make extra cash per release. Win-win.
However, I do agree that there is a large disconnect between the quality and quantity of what you get to what you paid for it.
These micro-transactions, despite what many people claim, are just fine. None of it feels forced, and it's there for those who feel it is worth it.
For major pieces of content, however, especially that which expands upon the game's story, people should expect more for their cash, and developers/publishers should be willing to offer more.
" Back when retail games were dominant, we had expansion packs. These were really large chunks of content, which were worth their price"
YES! I have no issues with expansion packs because they were charged accordingly but taking out missions, stages etc and charging like £8 or whatever for something that lasts about 30 minutes is a joke.
Not me because I refuse to by DLC keys, I have bought a handful of DLC all of which was decent size, FO3 ( picked up GOTY for $30 which had all 5 DLCs), Borderlands and Valkyria Chronicles Behind her blue flame. All was actual content that was actually a add-on and not just locked on the disc.
