Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition PC Manual Unveiled - Low FPS Feature/Option Spotted

DSOGaming writes: "Dark Souls fans, we have some good and some bad news for you. The good news first - the PC manual for Dark Souls: Prepare To Edition has been unveiled and you can read it online here. The bad news is that - according to the manual - you will be able to navigate the menu with only the directional keys. The game will support - in-game - mouse but as the manual states, Dark Souls was created to play using the X360 controller."

Since PC supports controller, so nothing bad news actually. You know supporting controller is also another beauty side of PC gaming. Developers want to stick with controller? let them be then. Problem?

It's obvious that no PC gamer has a controller, just like no PC gamer has the physical strength to pick up their computer and move it to their living room to play on their TV like a console.

HA just kidding, Dark Souls PC, despite being a console port, is going to be miles better than the console version.

I am buying it since I asked for it. I have no doubt the next game will be a greater pc port since they can keep pc gamer in mind from the beginning.

There's far more to people prefering console than playing it on a telly in thier loungeroom.

kevnb4280d ago

there used to be games that required a joystick back in the day...

ninjahunter4280d ago

Yea, not touching this with a 30ft stick.

StayStatic4280d ago (Edited 4280d ago )

Now that's more believable I mean who has a dam barge pole lol , can't even find one to buy on google.

"What you doing tonight ?" ...

"Im off out barging with my new barge pole, all rage these days."

Flavor4280d ago

Great attitude. Really, how many opportunities will pass you by because of inane self limitation?

ninjahunter4280d ago

Hey man, if you want to support Crap PC ports that go against almost everything that makes PC gaming better then be my guest. Honestly, everything they have said about this game makes me just want to buy it on xbox instead, I bought my PC to have a better, enjoyable experience, not... whatever you would call this.

"Last but not least, the PC version of Dark Souls: Prepare To Edition features an option called ‘Low FPS Feature.’ According to the manual, to prevent latency issues and frequent disconnections, there is a low FPS feature implemented where if your FPS drops below 15 for 30 seconds, your game will automatically be disconnected from the online session and will return to the title screen. Naturally, this is an online feature so fear not if you’re interested to play this game in SP/Offline mode."

Will this not make places like Blighttown unbearable? The frame-rate plummets in that place. I know it's an online feature but Dark Souls, like Demon's Souls, was designed to be played entirely online.

I dunno. I'd really like to try this out but I'm wary of this. It is, afterall, a straight up port. It hasn't been optimized for PC. But I'd love to see what the modding community could do for it.

im going to buy it and hope the next one will be better

Yer and it was awful (the port not the game).

luckytrouble608d ago

Still use it as my go to on Steam, but I will never make the mistake of booting it up without mods ever again.

MadLad607d ago (Edited 607d ago )

And it was garbage.
Luckily it was easily fixed by a modder who actually wanted a good product to be sold to people.
