Trust yourself imo. If you enjoyed the first, then get the second. If you didn't play the first look it up and ask people you know who did play it, and then look into the second if you enjoyed it. Its pretty much as simple as that. Its hard to look at reviews and see if the game is actually worth it, as everyone has their own opinions of games.

I couldn't have said it better myself. My llongtime best friend generally agrees on most games but sometimes our opinions are at polar opposites.

I really liked Darksiders but for him it had too many puzzles.

Well, I liked the first but I think that this one is gonna be alot different. 1St, it's much, much bigger, not short like the last one. Second, it has heavy RPG elements with lots of loot. It has a ng+ with different loot for replayability. Also, the combat is gonna b different with Dodge as the main component instead of block. So, while playing the first may be a decent indicator, I think this game will be appealing to a much larger audience this x. It's depth and repayable nature will draw different hardcore gamers that love rpgs. And in the year of the RPG, atleast for this Gen, it could be huge for darksiders 2. I am thinking this game is gonna do very well.

i was lucky to get on to darksiders 2 limited edition and that's coming from someone who really didn't like the 1st one. This one is like how ND made a huge difference from UC1 to UC2 that's how much potential i think this sequel has

Graphically, it doesn't look that much better than the console versions, so I don't know why people focus on that. What matters more is the actual gameplay elements, which look awesome, although I loved the first game so I'm biased.

Can always just pick up the demo for the first one, not sure if its still on the PSN, but its on XBL.

Its the whole Twilight Cathedral section from the beginning of the game.

Loved the first, definitely going to get the 2nd, I don't care about reviews, I'll judge it on my own experience with the game :)

Just dont forget that VIDEO from GIANTBOMB is the PC version running at average 60fps!Dont expect anything similiar in graphics and smooth play for the console versions!And if you see the videofrom GiantBomb well even on PC THE game is suttering!

Here is a breakdown regarding the hype that you are not familiar with.

1. Combat on par with God of War...not saying much but in an open world it puts it above all others.

2. It has Zelda like hub world with dungeons connected by open world. No big deal right been done before...except it has a more mature dark tone.

3. Has a robust RPG leveling system so that way character progression makes each players character unique and experience unique. That's also been done before.

4. Has a robust loot system like Diablo...which has been done before.

5. Has a quick stat feature identifying item stats prior to picking them up...not done before.

6. Has a true new game plus meaning beating the game doesn't mean your maxed out. You also do not even unlock all content until you play through it a second time.

7. Weapon leveling system that allows you to feed your unwanted weapons to weapons you like to level them up. The weapon you are leveling up can also gain the attributes of the items you feed it.

8. There is an arena mode after you complete the game with full leader board system so you can compete against your friends.

9. You have the Tome system which allows you to send your friends items they want that you don't use and the other way around.

All of these things make Darksiders 2 a much larger and complete package. Now even with all the above said each person has their own respective tastes but the above explains the hype behind the title.

hmmm you also forgot to mention the story in the first was awesome and this parallels that so it will likely be awesome.

for that matter you forgot to mention that its the sequel to one of the most underrated gems of this gen.. DS was amazing, slow to start but amazing overall.

and you forgot to mention that you get to play as death, which is just awesome.

this is my most anticipated game of the last couple years actually. i loved ds and would have given it a 9.5 knocking points off only for the slow start and dragging the end puzzle out a little long. other than that it was near perfect. also i couldnt care less about what it takes from other games, be it a carbon copy or slight change, as long as its done as good or better then it doesnt matter. it isnt like its the first game to borrow heavily from its inspirations nor will it be the last. 90% of games are unoriginal and ripped off some other game at one point or another, execution is all that matters

I agree on all points you made. I figured the features alone were enough. The crazy sick story and plaing as Death are just the icing on the cake.

Then again this is from a German magazine. The site doesn't have the review, just a few highlights. The magazine probably isn't set to hit stands until late next week, after the embargo.

Darksiders 1 was a very derivative game. It borrowed alot of ideas for previous games BUT it worked and it worked very well making for a highly enjoyable game that was far greater than the sum of its parts.

If Darksiders 2 can be more of the same but better alot of people will be very very happy.

Is this game open world kind of like skyrim?

It's not a seamless open world like Skyrim. There are nonlinear world spaces, but they are gated by loading zones and connected via town hubs, similar to Zelda.

I played the first one at a friends house for like an hour recently and I don't really see what the fuss is. Maybe it gets better but it was a bit of a yawnfest to be honest. Oh and I didn't like the look of it either. Hate that chunky WoW-like, hyper colourful graphical style. The story seemed pretty lame / naff too.
