Deadlight gains almost £250,000 revenue in one day

Tequila Works' Deadlight has entered the fray as an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive game, and whilst being met with mixed reaction from the critics, has thus far been an enticement to gamers willing to part with 1200 Microsoft Points.

That is not enough to pay too many wages yet and if you look at the credits there are a few team members. I would guess the game needs to sell 100k before they start celebrating.

Emilio_Estevez4282d ago

It is a pretty good start though.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying it... played for a little oven an hour last night. Normally I disagree with IGN, but their review was spot on for the game.

On topic: Hopefully, the game will sell even more, it deserves it. Had a few friends PM me last night asking how it was, and I recommended getting it if they like good platformers.

hennessey864282d ago

so far, just finished the sewer bit with the guy with the rat on a stick lol.

JellyJelly4282d ago

It has amazing atmosphere and lots of clever puzzles. I also like that most of the time you are underpowered against the zombies. If they get a hold of you there's not much to pray for.

I'm just past the rat guy part. Currently stuck on a tricky part involving a helicopter.

Ramas4282d ago

i want it on PSN right now!

KMCROC544282d ago

MS published, better chance on steam or GFW.

bunt-custardly4282d ago

Well that's possibly a stumbling block for Tequila Works. Would a multi-format release on Steam and PSN been better?

ChunkyLover534282d ago

Microsoft has stepped up their game with Xbox Live Arcade this year, even though the retail games have died down because their studios are working on next gen titles, Xbox Live Arcade has allowed them to have really amazing exclusive arcade titles that are just as good as many retail titles, but for a fraction of the cost to make and buy.

phantomexe4282d ago

I don't know about that man. I agree it's geting better minecraft was truly a great plus for MS and i love deadlight but i still pick up more arcade/indie style games off psn. One thing is for sure when MS gets a good one i spend a great deal more time on it.

ChunkyLover534282d ago

Well its just my opinion, but Trials, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, Fez, Minecraft, Deadlight and so many others. Its been the best year for the XBLA in my opinion.

StrongMan4282d ago

@Crapgamer......I mean Chunkylover53

" even though the retail games have died down because their studios are working on next gen titles"

MS owns more 1st party studios than Sony and Sony is still releasing retail exclusive new IPs so why can't MS? Don't you think Sony is working on next gen titles as well?

"Xbox Live Arcade has allowed them to have really amazing exclusive arcade titles that are just as good as many retail titles, but for a fraction of the cost to make and buy."

Those games are a fraction of the cost because they have a fraction of the content of retail games. Retail games average an 8-200 hour campaign. Arcade games average a fraction of that with a 1-3 hour campaign. How long does it take to beat Alan Wake: American Nightmare? 2, 3 hours tops? I'm over 150 hours into Skyrim and still haven't beaten it yet.

ChunkyLover534281d ago

Actually I spent around 8 hours on American Nightmare, I still haven't completed the new Trials game, but I have around 10 hours into it thus far.

As for Sony working on next gen games, I'm sure they are working on them, but I'm not at all convinced we'll see the PS4 next year at all. I'm also not sure Sony learned from the PS3 launch, the one with the lackluster lineup.

If you release a new console, that is the time to release new IP's and exclusives to draw people in, not 6 years later. When someone with $400 is trying to decide which console to get at launch, the games that launch with it are a HUGE factor.

Did you enjoy your time off Weakman? It was almost too quiet around here. I'm sure you'll get banned again soon though.

Arcade been kicking some serious booty this year.

Red Dead 2 ? Who would ever want to play that slow ass bloated overly long game twice ! Not to mention going through those awfully designed main missions.

Storm23367d ago

Agreed. I couldn't even finish it the first time.

DankSinatra367d ago

I mean, I did. I enjoyed every bit of the 3 times I played through it. Just because you didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean others won’t. Not every game is for everyone.

Demetrius367d ago

Ikr I thoroughly enjoyed red dead 2 one of the best open world games

Levii_92367d ago

But the first game is one of my favourite games ever.. i have no idea what happend with the second game but Rockstar needs to change it’s game design, especially how those main missions are designed. It’s severly outdated. Oh and actually make the gameplay enjoyable and not so slow and clunky.

Believe me, I recently replayed the first one and it’s worse in both structure and game design. Don’t let nostalgia misplace that. RDR 2 is definitely an improvement but it’s rockstar in general that needs to open up their handholding on missions.

anast366d ago

I got almost 700 hrs in that game. so, here is at least one person.

Some games have good incentives for multiple playthroughs but you can never beat experiencing it for the first time. Caelid for the first time? Mindblowing. Second time around it's just Caelid again.

Abear21367d ago

Bioshock, Skyrim, and Darkest Dungeon for me

gold_drake367d ago

definitely the Soul games and Bloodborne haha.

Deadliest was an awesome game. Glad to see it get recognition. I remember seeing it in ebay physically I had to buy it.

Snookies12472d ago

NieR: Automata's focus on existentialism hit me so hard, I legitimately had a brief existential crisis from it. It actually had me contemplating life and death. One of the many factors that contributed to Automata overtaking Chrono Trigger as my favorite game of all time. I've been gaming since Bionic Commando on NES. So I never really thought I'd find a game that could usurp Chrono Trigger for me, personally.

gold_drake472d ago

wow.
i mean i love the Nier franchise but to contemplate life and death ... maybe a therapist would help? not being funny about it.

Zeldafan64471d ago

Xenoblade Chronicles was what dethroned Chrono Trigger as my favorite rpg ever.

DrDoomer472d ago

these zoomers don't know about Silent Hill 2?

Elda472d ago

TLOU had a couple of touching moments but the entire story wasn't sad to me. But it was a story of survival so I guess the entire predicament of living in those conditions can be considered sad & I guess the same can be said for The Walking Dead..lol. Sekiro,Spec Op & Dark Souls story didn't seem sad to me nor did Nier:Automata. To each their own to how someone interprets a sad story.

VerminSC472d ago

What?!
SPOILERS
Dude, the main characters daughter dies in his arms in the first 30 minutes of the game. Then 2 brothers die in front of you in a horrible heartbreaking way. Followed by the conclusion where Joel chooses Ellie’s life and dooms mankind!

😂 Not sad at all

goldwyncq472d ago

Sarah’s death was sad, didn’t care about the 2 brothers at all, and I fully support Joel’s decision to save Ellie because mankind was beyond saving at that point anyway, so it was more bittersweet than sad, knowing how it would strain Ellie and Joel’s relationship going forward.

Elda472d ago

For me, the beginning was sad in TLOU everything else was just touching moments. Again as I stated in my initial comment.."To each their own for how someone interprets what is & isn't sad"

HeliosHex472d ago

I found resident evil village to be sad.
