Bethesda publishing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?

On topic, I don't know if this a good thing or a bad thing. Bethesda would want to bring this to consoles, and I don't mind that, but streamlining it for consoles would destroy what is fundamentally makes stalker a great game.

STALKER 2 was being made for consoles in the first place. Hopefully now though it will be on next gen so it won't be too gimped on the PC version.

I'm not worried about the graphics aspect of stalker 2, it's about the interface, shooting, difficulty, and complexity of games developed in eastern Europe.

the stalker games are comparable to a dense book, it's hard to get into, but once you get into the right mind set, it becomes incredible, and I'm not sure bethesda understands that.

One of the reasons I'd never make Pc gaming my focus over console gaming. Having to find the right patch on thousands of torrents to make STALKER work while I could be doing some other worthwhile thing, like playing video games, is not my idea of fun.

Having to search around for the best place for game patches is old now. Either buy the game through Steam and never worry about updating it or most games have an auto update built it.

Well Bethesda is famous for taking over series like Fallout, so if they take STALKER over and make it as popular as their other famous RPG's, it wouldn't surprise me.

Although this does mean that STALKER would be stripped of any kind of depth that it had in the previous games, unfortunately.

Remember how the dev kept promising the game wouldnt get compromised due to console development.

In the end what came out was very linear corridor style game. Specially suited for the console demographic. Hell the PC version didnt even feature graphic adjustment features.

Sorry but most games that do go console, also tend to get the consolitus treatment.

Alos seriously you either havent played Crysis on console or are being plane blind. The only way consoles do manage Crysis is with most of the vegetation and foliage missing. Not to mention the low res textures everywhere.

Using their engine, that wont end to well as it will have to have great lighting and atmosphere, we'll see if they pull it off. To me GSC mmo is going to be the new stalker.

Damn. I got Stalker 1 on Steam yesterday and i have to say it's Interesting. Mostly because it's not a casual shooter and you need more than half a brain cell to understand what's going on.

Bethesda publishing this usually means they'll put the consoles first much like they did with Skyrim. I.E. it'll be a half arsed mess that has all the conformity to suit the console kiddies

Fallout 3 was decent enough, but what they did with the Elder Scrolls series, post-Morrowind, is disappointing.

Well, across the pond PC gaming is still taken seriously so I think little will change for the PC version.

Truth be told, I'll take a buggy Fallout NV over any COD a hundred times over.

What's S.T.A.L.K.E.R about anyway?

Well it takes place around Chernobyl, where a secret stuff was being done that caused the accident. The area around the reactor is the "zone". Stalkers are basically loners that roam the zone looking for artifacts. There are a couple factions that that are fighting in and around the zone. One wants to stop the zone from expanding, one wants to protect it because its their home of sorts, and the others want to study or loot artifacts.

That is the (very)basic rundown of STALKER. But as I was writing I realized that its actually pretty complex. So to the core fans, I apologize if I screwed up, its been a little while since I have played it. Also trying to avoid spoilers.

While the story is different, Metro 2033(the game) has has a very similar atmosphere in it.
