CAPCOMMMMMM!!!!!!

You can't hide forever!!!!

CallMeZoidberg4280d ago

Here, here. That game's weaksauce. Afraid RE6 is going to be worst.

MWH4279d ago (Edited 4279d ago )

if RE5 blows than i don't know what you'll make of RE6. try the demo if you can, then, i believe you'll appreciate what RE5 had to offer.

other than terminating Wesker, i liked RE5. it may be the last good RE for God knows how long if Capcom insisted on going this rocky path.

awesomeoutof4279d ago

If they've managed to make it worse, as impressive as that would be, that still doesn't make Resident Evil 5 good.

I assume Saw IX is worse than Saw VIII, but that doesn't mean Saw VIII is any good.

MWH4279d ago (Edited 4279d ago )

yes i think it would be a problem if people can't stop comparing it to past RE games, not saying that this is wrong but if you managed to separate yourself from the comparison and considered RE5 as a game of its own you most probably will agree that it's a very good action game.

however; yes, i thought RE5 was trying to fish on the success of RE4 and that Capcom would certainly go forward in improving the survival-horror genre next but with RE6 it's now obvious that they decided to take the action path instead.

however; i still believe that they probably want to finish the story with the known characters before taking the direction back to roots. if you think about it, the whole world is exposed to the viruses now and with the current characters and events the game is bound to take the action path. it's absurd to have the same characters go through the same survival-horror over and over.

i'm betting that if RE6 concluded, RE7 will be the game we all want.. most of us at least.

awesomeoutof4279d ago

The comparison is warranted, though, when RE5 tries as hard as it did to ape RE4 and then mishandles it that badly.

RE5's entire opening sequence is a terribly flawed version of RE4's and its gameplay is based off the same framework (which was unique to RE4 at the time)

That being said, I don't think it's a good action game, either. 4 being so much better just happens to expose 5's flaws further. It's still a creatively bankrupt amalgam of a bunch of different action games -- games that I don't think are particularly inspired in and of themselves (like Gears of War). It's just more insulting that it presents this soulless game within a shell of RE4.

Once upon a time, Chris looked like a human and the game had more color than brown, tan, and sepia. That Capcom saw monotone brown and burly muscle heads were in vogue and pulled a monkey see, monkey do is obvious. ( http://www.awesomeoutof10.c...

It's made more obvious by how closely RE5 tries to follow RE4's winning framework (ruining it in the process). Clearly the people working on it didn't have unique ideas of their own or were told to make it more standardized by higher ups, possibly due to Capcom's fear of creating original content, as exposed by Inafune after he left Capcom.

MWH4279d ago (Edited 4279d ago )

your argument is solid in general i can't deny it but still i did enjoy RE5 and i'm a veteran RE fan. obviously this is because we experianced RE4 not too long ago and we wanted more, even if it wasn't the same experience, i did enjoy the game.. but enjoying and liking are little different perhaps.

but i have to say, when i tried RE6 demo i instantly felt the terribly path the game is taking and the following thought was "i'm done with RE"

call me too optimistic but i somehow believe Capcom wants to conclude before heading back and maybe reinvent the survival-horror genre.. but if i'm wrong then i'm done for good. simple but unfortunate.

awesomeoutof4279d ago

I've not yet had a chance to play the RE6 demo, but, if the trailer is any indication, the game is going full tilt away from RE4. And seemingly trying to appeal to everyone at once with three different stories.

Leon's looks to play something like Vanquish, Chris' to play like Battlefield/Gears, and so on.

While I'd love to think Capcom is trying to cap off all the Resident Evil canon, they did a lot of that with RE5. And with RE4 they proved that they could just ignore most of it and still make a great game. Nothing in Capcom's recent history points to them wanting to do something new. Even Dragon's Dogma was just Capcom riffing on the open world WRPG formula, while Dead Rising and Lost Planet were developed in secret.

Still, I'd love to be proven wrong. Ball is in Capcom's court. Until then, the indie scene is serving up plenty of bone chilling experiences, at least!

the downfall of the resi series was with resi4,
i probably would of liked that game even more if they had called it something different then resident evil(like they done with DMC which was originally going to be the next resi at he time, but became too much of a different game , so they changed the name)

Capcom Is 'Aware' of Dragon's Dogma 2 Frame Rate Issues on PC

Responding to a query about frame rate problems from IGN, Capcom said in a statement that performance issues on PC may be linked to the heavy amount of CPU demanded from NPCs in the game.

"In Dragon's Dogma 2, a large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and dynamically calculates the impact of their physical presence in various environments. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate," a Capcom representative told IGN. "We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future."

just_looken28d ago

What a load of bull there blaming the npc load for there poor performance? the new hitman games has way more going on beyond that they are saying any pc cpu is not powerful enough?

In the article it is also stated a ign reviewr got motion sickness playing ps5/pc version but still enjoyed it? like wow if that was me i would knock it down alot and asked for a patch asap.

So those about to play thank denuvo get a barf bucket if your on pc play 720p because like cites skyline its going to be a unoptimized cpu mess.

Man those on series s/steam deck/rog ally rip :(

andy8527d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Am I hearing that right, that reviewer with a 4090 is getting drops into the 20s when there's several NPC on screen. Sorry but there's zero excuse for that. BG3 had hundreds at a time on screen and that's a pretty game. What an absolute piss poor engine

just_looken27d ago

@andy

Yes the is correct but every review is giving it a past and or saying that its great that the performance is like the first ps3/xbox one game.

2012 20-30fps 2024 20-30fps dragons dogma keeping things the same reviewers like that apparently

just_looken27d ago

IGN put up a video showing the 4090 struggling aswell as console performance all versions are like the first game with fps issues.Remember dlss 3.0 can almost double your fps like that cyber punk video so without dlss on your looking at 30fps on the most powerful gpu that is out right now.

Cacabunga27d ago

Capcom where is Deep Down???

Tapani27d ago

@andy85 At launch BG3 dropped to under 30fps at the final chapter on 4090. I played the game at launch and had that experience. And that was with a 5800X3D. Everything watercooled and fine-tuned CPU/GPU and memory at 32GB with good timings, and a fast SSD etc.

just_looken27d ago

@tapani

I am sorry are we comparing a AA game with a small budget with alot going on 24/7 to a AAA game funded buy the billion dollar capcom?

You are right yes but that was patched and that team loves there community but if the first dogma said anything we should expect a patch or 2 but that is it.

andy8526d ago

@Tapani indeed but that was hundreds of NPCs. Not a few. It's piss poor

Can they be aware of the need for 60fps on consoles plz

just_looken27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Oh no kidding that "pro" model better have a 60fps mode.

But that ps5 pro PSSR will no doubt be a hold back as i see very few devs make a fsr/dlss/pssr game like really sony why did you spend millions to make upscale tech on the 6800 when amd already has fsr 3.0 just sitting there.

I remember the ps4 pro patches that dwindle over time yes new games had the modes but they were not standard and that was without the base ps4 using another upscale tech.

Edit:

In tldr form devs now make fsr upscale for ps5/xbox PSSR upscale tech on ps5 pro game then dlss/fsr upscale tech pc version and we also have intels xess just insane workload

Eonjay27d ago

'Oh no kidding that "pro" model better have a 60fps mode.'

Perhaps but only if Capcom addresses the issues first. substantially more powerful hardware is struggling.

Furesis27d ago

I mean it's not helping but this is something more than that. Plenty of games with denuvo that work fine

just_looken27d ago

That could be also taxing for sure sense the ps5 also supports that dreadful drm

This is also running off the RE engine remember those re vids with the denuvo drm on/off

MrDead27d ago (Edited 27d ago )

Project Zomboid a simple looking isometric game has a similar problem as the Zombies are CPU heavy. If this is the issue GPU tweeks won't do anything, you need less calculations per NPC or more static NPCs

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH27d ago

Well that’s just great…looks like I’ll be holding off on buying this on PC until it’s fixed. If I wanted low frame rates I’d just buy it in console smh…

The 10 PSVR 2 Games You Should Own

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos30d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts30d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook730d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka30d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka30d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

Neonridr30d ago

I own 7 of these titles off the list, lol.

NotoriousWhiz30d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos30d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1730d ago

GT7 surprised me, because I hate racing games, but i poured 100 hours into it way too quickly.

I’m looking forward to the Metro VR game this year, and I hope that WW2 dogfighter game releases eventually.

talocaca30d ago

I have most of them 😅

Waiting for a sale on Synapse and Arizona Sunshine 2.....also Metro coming this year looks great.
