Why Developers Need To Leave Game of Thrones For A While ::Proven Gamer::

Over-saturation has been the oldest, and most annoying habit of developers in the video game world, and it has been a trend to ride successful franchises into the ground. The latest victim to fall prey to this dangerous habit, has been the Game of Thrones series. Read on to find the classic mistakes made by developers when riding on the names of big franchises.

I disagree, what we need is a good developer to produce a solid quality rpg based on Game of Thrones.

AmigoSniped4291d ago

I would agree but if people keep running these games into the ground we won't get a good developer onto the series cause it wil be dead.

InstantKarma4291d ago

That's true, but no one can make a good RPG in one year, you need a nice long development time to really get a solid backstory and game mechanics down.

GoT is really popular now so I don't think they will leave it be. This GoT game was a shameful attempt at milking the franchise.

I think that the next GoT game should be similar to the Elder Scrolls games.

I could also imagine a strategy game based on GoT.

It won't ever happen and this is why. When developers create a new ip, the hardest thing is to gain name recognition or popularity for your world. How rare is a good game translation? Batman and star wars. If something already has name recognition, it's easy to be swayed by the quick Buck. Now, the creators may want to make a wonderful RPG, but after a couple years, the publisher grows tired and wants money and it gets released.

To compound the problem, game of thrones is awesome. Making a video game that meets the quality of storytelling is near impossible, and without a great story, it's simply another RPG in westeros. I agree, leave game of thrones alone for now.

What’s the best Game of Thrones video game?

Over the past decade, Game of Thrones has become a bonafide powerhouse in the realms of television and fantasy literature. However, despite its massive pop culture presence, there’s one entertainment avenue in which George R.R. Martin’s politically charged fantasy drama has mostly floundered: video games.

I personally loved the Telltale GoT. Probably one of the few where your choice actually matters. Iron from ice!

lucian2291802d ago

One of my favorite telltale games. Loved the story

Manubiggs1802d ago

I loved it too, my favorite tell tale game. Always wishes there would be a sequel

Hatsu121803d ago

The one that's not written by D&D

pietro12121802d ago

What does that even mean? Sounds like you don't know what D&D is?

TekoIie1802d ago (Edited 1802d ago )

D&D is used as an abbreviation for the main writers of the show (David Benioff and D. B. Weiss) because it's a hell of a lot shorter. So it's not a 'what' it's a 'who' and to be honest he's right. These guys have shown a complete disregard for the material with their recent attempt to rush it to completion to move on to their Star Wars work. These guys showed talent in adapting but don't have an original bone in their body based on their work beforehand.

pietro12121802d ago

In that case I agree and I apologize for coming off as an A hole. Dungeons and Dragons kept popping in my head every time I read D&D. Lol

porkChop1803d ago

I mean we only have the Telltale game, the 2012 RPG, and some mobile games to choose from. So probably Telltale? Even though I personally thought it was one of Telltale's worst products.
