First in-game screenshots and details for The Farm 51's, Adventurer
DSOGaming writes: "The Farm 51 revealed 3 new enemies which will be featured in their upcoming action/adventure FPS – Project Adventurer. The new enemies will play a pivotal role in the story of a private investigator from San Francisco who gets caught up in a Nazi plot to find an ancient and dangerous artifact."
Thirteen1 - You’ve probably heard about Project Adventurer by now; the upcoming FPS from Farm 51 has caused quite the internet stir for apparently looking like an Uncharted rip-off. But the thing is…this promising game doesn't look like a rip-off at all. And that’s coming from a bona fide Uncharted fan boy.
Maybe if they didn't make their character and sidekick look so similar, they wouldn't get the comparisons...

Am I the only one that thinks the start of the video (the environment) looks a lot like Uncharted Drakes Fortune?
I think that is just his way of ripping on Uncharted by insisting it's simply Tomb Raider.
Crysis has jungle, the upcoming Far Cry 3 has jungle, BFBC2 has jungle and there are many more games with jungle but do any of them said to be Uncharted rip-off? NO!
this is not about the jungle but just like Unearthed, this is a blatant shameless rip-off!

I would say it was inspired by Indiana Jones and not a direct rip off/wannabe. I challenge you to find a good Indiana Jones game worth playing, that matches the quality of any of the Uncharted games.
The Indiana Jones game on the old xbox was an awesome game hulk_bash1987. It doesn't share the same graphics what with it being made a generation before, but at the time it looked great and had some amazin brawling physics.
Regardless I think Drithe was referring to the movies of which indiana was a little more famous for ;)

I don't see this as a rip off of uncharted what so ever. Both this game and UC borrow heavily from Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider. To say that it's a ripoff of UC isn't accurate. I look forward to this game. It should be a great Adventure. LOL
It clearly is an uncharted rip off. you see the characters and environment and your telling us that its not trying to specifically be like uncharted?! seriously?! I'm sure if this game wanted to "copy" Indiana jones and tomb raider, wouldn't you think they would have released this game at least before, say uncharted 2 came out??
Had anyone watched that video without the headline they would have immediately said "That was fast. Didn't know they were making an Uncharted FPS!"

@blastoise Sony had ar on the ps2 via eye toy, I think Sony may have purchase their tech because this looks like eye of judgement or invisimal for the psp.
it looks like a rip off because the guy who looks like nathan drake is similarly dressed the same and the other guy looks like sully and that pic looks like its at the jungle scean with the german u boat....people who say this isnt a ripoff are most likely 360 users seeing how they dont have uncharted for 360 and they are saying its like an uncharted FPS.....hmmm
Uncharted was heavily inspired by Indiana Jones from treasure hunting, environment, to solving puzzles. Even Nathan Drake is somewhat of a poorman's Indian Jones played by Harrison Ford in terms of attitude/character.
People call it a rip-off because of:
1. The environment
2. Treasure hunting/puzzle solving
3. The main male character
All of 3 of these reasons Uncharted did NOT originally invent. The game is not even a 3rd person game. In addition, the main character dresses in classic turn of the century explorer attire. Just like the main hero from the 1999 movie The Mummy: http://blogs.amctv.com/movi...

They did rip a lot of uncharted however saying that it looks like a very poor game even at early stages. Just look at the puzzles they are so 1990's and the flying spears traps? Seriously? Last time I saw them was timesplitters! Not to mention the weapons which belong more in a war game like dual wielding smgs.
I agree with ya mewhy, people just love to categorize everything based on their own short term memories. Sure games like Uncharted might rekindle the popularity of games with "hero adventure" treasure hunters but that has always been around in film and games. If people would stop comparing everything against everything else and taking experiences as they come...they would be a lot less disappointed in life. It should be a great adventure.

After watching the gameplay, the only similarities with uncharted are an airplane crash, puzzle solving,and 2 male characters.... That's it
No set piece moments, no climbing..... It's an fps to, not even third person

I love uncharted, but I can't say it's an original concept.... But it's still a concept I love, loved Indiana jones, and I plan to pick up tomb raider... And I might get this too

It's ok you people. This game only happens to have similar characters and locations than Uncharted has. It's not trying to rip anything off. It a complete coincidense.
The issue is the character blatantly look like Nathan etc.
A lot of the scenery showed also seems similar tp specific parts of Uncharted. Rather than both games having a jungle, these guys have constructed the same thing in the same way.
The language in this article is damage control setting the tone for Sony fans to attack a unforeseen game on xbox and not PS lol. Since when does being in a jungle mean it's a uncharted ripp off? Looks more like Indiana Jones but darker with a heavier focus on the supernatural(more like the Mummy movies but dark) Uncharted is Tomb Raider with Gears Of War gameplay mechanics. The Oringal Xbox had more games like this. Other than some plants, 007 Golden Eye has more in common with this game than Uncharted. A crashed Air Plane in the Jungle concept came about because Uncharted? LOL
*sigh* no one is saying its a rip off because of the jungle! There's more to it, like someone said above that the picture looks exactly like the scene when they find the U-boat.
That's why people are calling it a rip off. And why label them as Sony fans? Maybe they actually do think its a rip off regardless of platform.
In PC terms it doesn't look that good at all, in comparison with a lot of games.
The thing that will set them apart is the story for the Uncharted series, i'm not convinced these guys will match it with a far smaller studio.

PS All Stars Battle Royale (PSASBR) is not as much of a rip off as it seems to be.
SSBB is the only game in its genre, and Sony is making another game in the same genre. Calling PSASBR a rip off of SSBB is the same as calling every FPS a rip-off of Wolfenstien 3D.
The comparison of all FPS to Wolf3d doenst quite fit. Had you specified particular games then it would make more sense. Like the game NOVA as being a ripoff of halo. That is a more direct comparison than a generalized statement of (insert FPS) compared to Wolf3d.
The PS allstars is sony's version of SSB so in that sense it could be construed as a rip off. Just as this game "adventurer" being more closely akin to uncharted.
It isnt a new thing to try and capitalize on the popularity of something and make a similar title. Pretty much there are several gameloft titles that are obvious clones of bigger named games.
Same thing happens in movies and tv. They arent trying to undermine the quality and popularity of the originals. They are simply trying to get in on the action and get a slice of that particular genre in the market.
Besides, there are some really good knockoff titles out there. They dont get as much attention because people see them as knockoffs and may not be inclined to give them a chance.

Look up TMNT: Smash Up, Battle Stadium DON, DreamMix TV World Fighters, Jump Ultimate Stars, Cartoon Network: Punch Time Explosion and Viewtiful Joe: Red Hot Rumble. Super Smash Bros. isn't the only game in the 2.5D Party Fighter genre.

Battle royale is a ripoff of SSB. I don't see how anyone can say it isn't since even the devs say it borrows heavily from it.
This Adventurer game borrows heavily from Uncharted in characters and enviroments (not just jungle). Get over it.

This is closer to Uncharted than that other saudi Uncharted clone and that game took way more crap for it than this one..

ontop: other than the charators. theres really nothing that makes this a uncharted clone. unless you talking about the jungle. which is mainly in many games other than uncharted. i honestly think people are still upset that PSASB is being called a SSBM clone that they need something to rag on.
Though it's eerily similar, if this games looks and feels anything like uncharted, I would have to give props to the devs. In my opinion all gamers should have the Oncharted experience, be it through Uncharted games themselves, or by similar games like this one. Where have the days gone where people were just excited about new and awesome games, and not arguing over which platform has the better games. Gaming should be about one thing, and one thing only; fun. Peace.
So basically generic repetitive clunky gunplay (and lots of it) followed by a decent story and good cinematics followed by crappy annoying puzzles climbing....I played all 3 and it wasn't fun, ratchet and clank was fun, sly cooper was fun....uncharted honestly sucked.

Uncharted doesn't suck. And I wouldn't say its repetitive or clunky either. I admit some of the puzzles could be better, but they're not annoying. They aren't perfect games. But it is a great series hence all the 9/10's and 10/10's it gets.
@_Aarix_ I don't think you've even played the Uncharted games. And if you have, you were ready to hate them before you even put the disc inside. I know it's your opinion, but next time make that clear. If you didn't find it fun, that's cool. But passing any judgement on any game as a fact, that's not the right. The series doesn't have an average Metacritic rating of 90+ for nothing.
In first person, because I doubt a small studio could achieve the kind of animation fluidity and dynamism that characterizes Nathan Drake in Uncharted. And if they could, the real difficulty lies in striking a balance between animation and player control/responsiveness. Nice try though.

never mind was trying to find a video of the game and i found one.
So it has snowy mountains, pirateships and temple ruins in addition to the jungle enviroment and samey characters. Not bad at all.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but in one of the screenshots it seems as if this is an FPS. Without the third person traversal, cover/shooting, and stealth mechanics, I don't see how this can be like Uncharted, apart from the setting (which if anything is an Indiana Jones setting :P)
I get it, though I wouldn't call it an Uncharted wannabe if it's an FPS.
