"Sony's revision of the PlayStation 3 deemed PS3 4000/PS3 Super Slim is less than a month away from its anticipated announcement during gamescom 2012. With the FCC clearly uncovering three new models with storage skus including 16GB, 250GB, and 500GB, I am disturbed by the fact Sony would even consider placing a console on retail shelves with less storage space than what was included with the launch units almost six years ago."

Sony has recruited Bungie's head of revenue Jaremy Rich to head up its live-service gaming division, Rich has announced on social media.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I mean, this person made some pretty bad decisions at Bungie. I hope they've learned from them because I definitely don't see those type of ideas as good for PlaySation in general.
Ps5 gamers in 2023 seemed to play more live service types of games, so regardless to how people feel about them, numbers don’t lie and Sony is going where the money is. I mean look at the excitement around Helldivers2, people are showing that they want live service games.
How do you kill a franchise that already been killed?
Destiny’s grind, cash-in-on-playbass-cha-Ching, and pop-culture-insertion mainstream-me-too bs totally killed any rep Bungie had. Sony/Bungie, if you are doing this to ward-off players, it’s already working.
Sony has patented to add multiple dialogue modes to let players switch between how many conversations with NPCs they want in the game.
Sony is like the only ones outta the 3 that has atuff like like this pop up changing thing in ways.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
The 16gb ps3 will be for people who wants a cheap ps3 and the ps3 HDD is so easy and cheap to upgrade.
I can't wait to buy the slim 500gb ps3 first day
It'd probably be cheaper to buy a 16gb PS3 and then upgrade the harddrive yourself into whatever size you want. They're a lot cheaper these days then they used to be, and installing one is so easy even a kid could do it - and likely has and made videos on youtube about it.
I do have to agree that the 16GB (if true... if it is it's probably flash) isn't something desirable. Perhaps though, if we can think more like a company, it makes perfect sense. We know that Sony's strongest division IS the games division, and we know that Kaz wants to get things moving AND NOW!
With that in mind, a cheaper PS3 would probably help sell the console to more casuals, especially if bundled with MOVE or even (dare I say it) Vita. One of the reasons I think it's going to be flash is for ease of putting in a hard drive. You wouldn't have to transfer data over or risk losing any in the process...
So, I didn't like it when MS did it and I'm not going to like it when Sony do it, but Sony needs to get the ball rolling again.
It is for the casual market. It is a good marketing decision that has proven quite profitable for Microsoft (cheap console when the casual do not buy that many games). For the hardcore there is the 250/500 but the hard drive is very easy to upgrade.
Personally I don't see the reason for the 16GB PS3, but there may be people out there who want that. Let's see what GAMESCOM brings when Sony goes to the event.
