The day is finally here. After years of rumors and speculation, months of teasers and trailers, The Dark Knight Rises finally hits theaters today. As the huge Batman fan that I am, I’ve been getting my bat-fix by watching the excellent animated series from the 90′s and playing loads of video games starring the caped crusader. To help get you in the mood for the epic finale of Christopher Nolan’s series, as if you weren’t already, here is a list of the five best Batman games."

i would trade out the NES batman for the Genesis Batman. Sunsoft made the genesis version not only graphically better but the level where you fly the batwing is fun as hell.

No, totally different. I never played the Genesis one, but the SNES game based on the animated series was a very good Konami game.
By the way, I feel the Arkham games should have been treated as separate games, holding the number 1 and 2 spots.

had batman returns from konami. Sega did the batman returns for the sega cd which was much better than the genesis version.

As for the nes/genesis. The nes version came out first from sunsoft but in jp sunsoft also made it for the mega drive. Thing is, nintendo had a block on companies releasing the same game on competing platforms in other territories.

That is why it was available for mega drive in jp but not the us (or euro if i recall). Sunsoft and capcom and konami and a bunch of other developers sued nintendo and got their block overturned. This allowed games that were in jp to be released on other platforms in other areas.

For me, i had purchased the import as at the time the batman for mega drive looked like it wasnt coming out in the states. Then after sunsoft (and the rest) won...the game was quickly ported (basically they changed the cartridge casing as the jp game was 100% english) and it was released stateside within a month later.

Check out youtube for footage of the genesis version of batman from sunsoft and you will find it is similar to the nes but much better graphically.

You beat me to it. IMO, SNES BR was one of the best Batman games ever made for its time. It was like Final Fight/Streets of Rage in a Batman setting. Always made me wonder why "journalists" and their eventual followers would say there were never any quality Batman games up until AA's release (which I'm totally of a whole nother opinion of).

And to Morgue, like others have said, the NES and Genesis versions of Batman were totally different...yet they were both great as individual games.

It was basically a improved port of the NES title with a few extras thrown in. However those graphics did make a difference.

Me too bro . I went at midnight. By the way is was an amazing movie and prolly one of the best I've ever seen!!! Everybody needs to see The Dark Knight Rises because u won't be disappointed!!!!
Back to what I was about to say is that I went to GameStop to today and bought of the GOTY editions of asylum and city for ps3. I had them for 360 but I wanted to experience the awesomeness of both back to back again since Ive got a rush of Adrenaline in my blood because of The Dark Knight Rises lmao

Curious, what was the point of buying the same 2 games you had before but for another platform if there is no difference between the 2? Couldn't you just replay the ones you had in order to get your batfix?... I too bought the game of the year versions of both but only because i never bought the regular versions of either game.

Oh lmao well I had them on 360 but sold them and sold my 360 and since I mostly play ps3 I wanted to replay the experence. Plus I hadnt played asylum since it came out a few years ago since I sold it right away and the ps3 version had Joker challenge maps. I figured I got batman on my mind so why not get the complete editions which were cheap this weekend cuz Gamestop is having a sale going on. Im never buying games at launch anymore Im just waiting for the GOTY of the good games lol. This is the only time I will ever rebuy a game I previously purchased lmao

Thats why you smart u waited. Im gonna do it for borderlands 2 cuz I bought it at launch but then all the dlc game with the goty. Its no big deal to wait cuz I have so many games that i'll be occupied.

Don't forget "Batman: The Brave and The Bold" for Wii as well, it's a gorgeous looking and fun to play game.

What's better Arkham Asylum or Arkham City? I've only played the former and loved it.
