Gaikai could be used across all of Sony, according to founder David Perry.
While it is not yet clear how the cloud gaming service - which was acquired by the electronics giant earlier this month - will be used, it could "impact" all of the company.
"Well, it depends how Sony decides to make use of the tech, but if nothing else, it just adds another cool capability for PlayStation gamers," Perry said.
"Again, it's too early for us to even begin to speculate how Sony will use it, because we haven't had that discussion, but there's going to be probably 50 brainstorming meetings.
"It's a big company with a lot of departments and a lot of people are going to want to talk about this, because it's an ecosystem that's… the company just doesn't do one thing, it's got a lot of component pieces. Blu-ray players, TVs, mobile phones - I think cloud gaming can impact all of it.
"It's going to be in a lot of meetings and a lot of discussion over the next few months."...
Sony has recruited Bungie's head of revenue Jaremy Rich to head up its live-service gaming division, Rich has announced on social media.
Please do not put Destiny’s monetization into Sony’s first party games. The monetization is what’s driving players away from Destiny.
I mean, this person made some pretty bad decisions at Bungie. I hope they've learned from them because I definitely don't see those type of ideas as good for PlaySation in general.
Ps5 gamers in 2023 seemed to play more live service types of games, so regardless to how people feel about them, numbers don’t lie and Sony is going where the money is. I mean look at the excitement around Helldivers2, people are showing that they want live service games.
How do you kill a franchise that already been killed?
Destiny’s grind, cash-in-on-playbass-cha-Ching, and pop-culture-insertion mainstream-me-too bs totally killed any rep Bungie had. Sony/Bungie, if you are doing this to ward-off players, it’s already working.
Sony has patented to add multiple dialogue modes to let players switch between how many conversations with NPCs they want in the game.
Sony is like the only ones outta the 3 that has atuff like like this pop up changing thing in ways.
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
David Perry of Shiny Entertainment developers of Earthworm Jim, Wild9 and MDK, it was a fantastic game.
MDK3, anyone?
Dave wasnt part of Shiny when they made MDK, so i doubt he'd have too much interest in working on that
I assume with the Gaikai acquisition their focus is mainly on the gaming potential and also adding it to t.v.'s but the capabilities seem endless.
hopefully is gonna be part of playstation plus service, im not paying more for cloud gaming.
