It is and it isn't. The vehicle gameplay in BF3 is second to none. I thought BC2 had better maps and made for better games of Rush. BF3s maps were designed with Conquest more in mind. Being a big BC2 player I don't know why people complain about BF3 so much. Its the best multiplayer fps out there in my opinion and if EA sell out and go the COD road then I will move on to something else. The same way I moved on after MW2 and Gears 1. If you dont like a devs game then dont buy it, its the best form of protest, simple as.

Agreed. That's why I skipped BF3 despite logging over 250 hours in BC2.

Yup. BC2 had the best MP I had played in many years. BF3 MP was kind of disappointing. The player count was too little for the size of most of the maps (Operation Firestorm, I'm looking at you).

I prefer BF3. I haven't put this much time into a shooter in, ever. I do agree with asmith about the maps not being as good for Rush (best mode ever) but even with that I have so much damn fun with BF3 and I get so competitive I can't put it down. It has a lot of flaws (especially on console) but over all it's the best multiplayer shooter I've played.

BC and BF are Two TOTALLY different game experiences.

One is not better than the other but only "YOU" as a Gamer have a preferred playing style thus one game is better suited for you versus the other.

BC = is more about fighting right at the flags.

BF = a more Total war strategical experience.

Funny thing is I liked BC1 over BC2 and BF3. To me bad company 1 multiplayer was one of the best online experiences I ever had. By the time I finished playing BC1 I had logged in about 12000 kills and only 5000 in BC2. Battlefield3 killed it for me with the PS3 input lag, thats why I hardly played that game.

Bad Company (2) were absolutely magnificent games. Bad Company was one of the first games I got on my PS3 in 08 (along with MGS4 and GTA IV). I remember one day playing it for 10 hours straight (will never do that again), which was online only. I have never done that with any game in my life.

I think BF3 is great however I still love Bad Company. The next Battlefield should be 2143 or Bad Company 3. Also what I got from reading this was that the Community Manager wants all the good bits from BC to integrate with BF4 and BF5 so on. Which WILL NOT WORK, Bad Company is great as its own game, with great story and great online.

I'd say most of the people played BF3 on consoles here.

BF3 Conquest on PC > Bad company 2.
Rush BC2 comsole/pc > Console BF3

It's just the way it worked out when Dice decided that 2011 PC's were the aim in developement, BF3 is a different game on PC than console/

For some reason which I wouldn't have ever thought I'd feel prior to BF3's release ... I agree with you. I don't know why, but I think I just enjoyed BC2 more.

With that said, I found BC1 even more enjoyable, I think BC1's SP was better than BC2 ( I know, I know, SP doesn't matter all that much in Battlefield, but still). Perhaps I look back on BC1 more fondly than BC2 because the destruction was "new" with BC1, and by BC2 we were already used to it. BUT I do think BC1 had better maps too. They were more "open" compared BC2, which is a plus to me (love open expanses rather than linearity).

Agreed. The destruction is the one thing BC2 has as a clear advantage over BF3. I dont know what DICE where thinking when they toned it down in BF3.

After reading a lot of comments in this BF4 and the other article... seems like a lot of people were let down by BF3 and all the hype leading up to it.

I could tell by that beta it was not even close to being ready, and only the PC version was the one to really be the best on. Console versions stood no chance to do what the PC version did.

Well Bad Company 2 sold more than twice as much as the first bad company. Battlefield 3 sold more. As I see it Battlefield franchise is simply gaining more popularity as it has spread to consoles, word of mouth, and advertising. What's to say Bad Company 3 wouldn't perform as well as Battlefield 3?

Sure but what bothers me is that they use the same engine and both have the same feel. Maybe it's just me but FPS games just don't excite me anymore. If EA goes down this trend with releasing a FPS every year im done with FPS for a while.

I agree and feel the same as you. Bfbc2 is better, especially single player. I like the characters in bad company. I also like MoH, and hope the multi-player is better on new one than the last. I enjoyed MoH single player though.

Who cares if it's an offshoot? It was a great offshoot. BC2 sold 12 million copies. The multiplayer is suuuuuper smooth with amazing sound and really fun game play and some of the best maps I've ever played in an FPS game. It's too good to ignore.

What I liked about the Bad Company series was the fact that it had a better story, better characters, the humor, and the fact that it didn't take itself seriously.

The thing that kinda killed BF3 for me a little was the fact that it was trying to be uber-intense and super serious.

Bad Company series were crap if you gamed on PC anway, BF2 was and still is the best and BF3 is pretty awful to.

Dont like the new engine "frostbite" it has massive problems with latency and is extremely glitchy plus the games on it feel to clustered.

Like in BF3 I can hardly move sometimes due to a cardboard box or something that an avatar should be able to step over easily but instead you have to jump? stupid.

Hated how sluggish the Bad company games were and yet again they were plagued with latency.

The console crowd has never had dev support for long time so they don't expect it. BF5 will be in 2015.

This is why I love valve they still make hardcore shooter. Consoles don't have any.

IMO BC2 is better than BF3 in some aspects & BF3 is better than BC2 in other aspects... If I had to choose between the 2 new games releasing, I would like to see BC3 sooner than BF4 just because it's been a longer period of time between the last game, besides BF3 just dropped it's first DLC... But in all reality I would like a break from the (what seems to be) endless FPS after FPS with minimal changes... I'm not saying these games are unplayable or bad but it just seems to me that for every step these DEVS take foward they take a step or two back & that's why I believe people complain so much ( of course some people just cry about anything just to cry ). I know its hard to perfect a game that everyone loves but it seems to me that it feels like it's been a long time since I got a near perfect FPS ( IMHO BC2 would be that game,along with KZ2 behind that)... Bottomline it's up to the DEVS to think things out more before releasing their 1.5 or 2.0 version of their respective title & it's up to the PEOPLE to decide whether they're truly happy being stuck with a game that hardly changes it's formula instead of innovating with real changes... You definitely aren't the only one , i still play the mp of BC2 and think it's far superior to Bf3 . I play on console and feel that the maps are actually too big on console for the amount of players , by the time everyone jumps into a vehicle there are no infantry to fight and i find it boring .

BC2 was awesome. I loved the campaign. BF3 campaign doesn't compare to it but i do enjoy the MP. It just has a different feel than BC2. You should take the game in its own right, its not BC2 and is not trying to be. People also forget that BC2 had a butt load of issues in the first few months. Vietnam addition was pretty cool.

I just wouldn't go far as to say it's "not fun", I mean it's generally a fun game but I'd say what makes games not fun is the people for reasons like hacking, glitching, camping, no teamplay,etc. But all games can be fun, in their own right. And I do agree that I like BC2 better than BF3 but I still like BF3 too, I'm just bummed about how games & these as of late gameplay fads are affecting what gaming used to be & could be...

I see a lot of people comparing BC2 and BF3 and saying which one is better. Honestly, I miss the simplicity of BC2's matchmaking, as well as the map designs (Arica Harbor, anyone?). BC2 just WORKED, despite having a few bad maps (yeah, the jungle ones). You formed a squad, hit "Quickmatch," and you all joined the same squad and team and starting kicking ass. BF3 doesn't do that feature too well sometimes (although it HAS gotten better lately).

However, I feel BF3 has a lot more depth to the gameplay and offers a lot more in terms of gameplay mechanics. Not to say I don't miss BC2's tracer darts, though... ;-) I think BF3 does some things better than BC2 (weapon customization, suppression effects), and vice-versa. If I could change one thing about BF3, I would nix the custom servers, though...

Overall, I just wish I could combine certain aspects from BF3 and BC2 into one game.

Vietnam DLC for BC2 was essentially the original Vietnam game for PC updated to modern gen. There are pro's an con's to both games no need to be like "this 1 is better then the other" there completely different games. BC Series is a console game ported to PC so they dislike an console players love. Battlefield series is a PC game ported to console's. No point in comparing the 2 of course BC plays better on consoles, they made it for console's in mind. Simple as that an with the way the recession is, they can't afford for a mediocre game to come out just to please a fan base. Companies just can't afford to do this anymore.

BF3 had the better vehicle play, and gun customization, but wasn't that great on consoles due to map sizes, player count, etc.

BC2 worked so well because the consoles were its focus, so the maps were designed around their limits. While I enjoyed BF3 on my Xbox (more so on PC), BC2 was superior IMO.

I actually liked Bad Company 2, the campaign anyway. The online was okay, Vietnam was pretty fun, but people spawned camped with tanks all the time.

I think one of the reasons Battlefield 3 sold "so well", is because people decided to support it in spite of Call Of Duty. I know at least two people who bought the game, but haven't even played it.

Battlefield 3 sells like 10-12 million copies and everything EA talked trash on Activision for went out the window. I actually think Bad Company sold better than MOH, so we could see a Bad Company/Battlefield game on a year to year basis in the future.

I'll never buy another Battlefield game until they add in some sort of vehicle training levels. I feel I'm missing the main point of the game if I cant fly the vehicles. Surely an offline mode cant be hard.
You cant jump into the cockpit of a helicopter if you don't know what you're doing as you just get abuse. So how can you learn?

BFBC3 would be pointless when you already have BF 3. The beauty of BF 3 is that it can scale down as well as up as indicated by the CQ expansion pack. Replicating BC gameplay would be easy.

There is hardly a difference in BFBC and BF - I just don't want more Close Quarters, it's awful and it's COD not battlefield.
