Record of Agarest War 2 Review [Capsule Computers]

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:

"Record of Agarest War 2 has seen some of the biggest changes to the series, factoring in new battle mechanics, an upgrade in visuals and the addition of more fan service than ever before. Unfortunately some of the visual upgrades have caused other negative aspects of the title to become more evident while other upgrades appear to have actually been detrimental to the final product.

As for the new changes to the battle system, the title feels more like a combination between SRPG and action which actually works quite well and gives players a newer experience instead of the same thing for a third time. In the end, Record of Agarest War 2’s changes provide an enjoyable experience, albeit one with a rather mundane storyline but one that is brightened up by the game’s enjoyable romance system and freshly revamped battle system which will keep players interested for the title’s 30+ hours of length."

I REALLY want this game. Still working on the first one, but after 15 or so hours, I really dig it. My only complaint is that it's not dubbed in English. Now that the game is in HD, I can overlook that fact.

I remember renting the Sega Dreamcast ver "Record of Lotus War" or something like that.. I couldnt find it anywhere to buy.. Great series from what ive played.. Is there any more that were made this gen???

Shame the EU version has been censored :/

Ghostlight said its just 4 CG images and removal of 1 character from the 1st generation mini game, however according to some users these CG's are related to events in the game which in theory would mean the removal of these events too.

I f***ing hate censorship >:( Regardless of whether its games, movies, music etc

I think I'm going to buy this game.

1) Hope they put it on disc this time.
2) Hope this is a positive for Neptune coming over as well.

Demons Souls5069d ago

If so, that's being developed & published by Idea Factory. Compile Heart has nothing to do with it (Thank God for that).

Godmars2905069d ago (Edited 5069d ago )

Thought Compile Heart was one of the companies lending characters.

Was also speaking in general as in regards to a US of Neptune. If these guys are offing a second game, NIS or Atlus, both of whom offer quirkier titles, will put that one out.

@kagon01:
My issue isn't - wholly - with the DL-only option, but the price. The first game should be $30. Maybe $40, and by that I mean $39.99. The only reason its $45 is the 360 disc version which has extras. Nevermind that by all rights its a PS2 game. Something that proabbly could have been done if the devs had the GOW2 engine or tools.

ClownBelt5069d ago

I approve of this god damn message.

Could have gotten my 60 bucks if they just put it on a disc.

Another exclusive damnn the ps3 keeps on rollin wit games awesome ;)

Jack-Pyro5069d ago

Is this a half decent SRPG, porn aside, cause if it is, i might just decide to go and buy it for the 360.

Anon73495069d ago

There's no porn just some sexual innuendos but that's it.

Also it is a great game by itself, maybe not graphically but everything else is top tier.

RedDevils5069d ago

so it had some kind of "top tier" porn story jk

ThanatosDMC5069d ago

Yup, it's a decent game. I just hate that a move has to go first before any attack options.
