I remember that DICE said that BF4 will not come on current consoles. This could be pointing towards either a PC only demo or perhaps a demo for all next-gen platforms plus PC. Either case, I am done with BF3 at the moment as a number of glitches, unbalanced gameplay and idiots who run their server ruined BF3 for good.

FPS games can go the route of Bioshock and innovate the genre, but so far, other than a few gems and rarities, that isn't happening. Absolutely cannot wait for Bioshock Infinite though.

I've got no issues with first person shooters. Just Military Shooters. I mean they always have the same story, same setting etc. It's past the point of being fresh and is one of the genres that I feel have become stale quicker than any genre in gaming.

Games like Bioshock, Dead Island (Zombies are becoming overused, but Dead Island didn't resort to being just like your usual Zombie games) and Mirror's Edge are all great First Person Games that didn't have to resort to "wow look at CODs sales, Let's copy".

The problem is COD made military shooters stale, IMO Battlefield is a better game (vehicles, destruction, sound to name a few).

But as you said the main problem is the "Me Too" devs that attempt to copy COD's formula, EA is going that route with this new MOH & BF alternate cycle and BF Premium.

I long for the days when more devs were willing to take chances, regardless of the success of another franchise or company

I like the battlefield series. I've playing them since 1942. I was annoyed they didn't include a bot mode to practice flying and weapons with. I hope the next installment includes it.

No. It's how they keep up with cod and keep momentum going. I still trust Dice, even though EA calls the shots. What would b very smart in this economy in which many still play B3 is to make a move into the future and give ppl a reason to buy it by joining one to the other in some way, by allowing ppl to keep what they have earned or reward them for what they have accomplished. If it's in this Gen, it could b a great way to sell alot of copies. Eventually, it will money in this direction.

You should be because BF3 is missing a lot. BF2 had multiple factions, EU, US, PLR, MEC. Each with different tactics due to their different vehicles and weapons. Each had a memorable battle theme. Now, it is just US VS Russia. How freaking generic. Everyone is a headless chicken in BF3 without a freaking Commander. The Commander is also removed from BF3. Instead of expanding what they have, all the things that set BF2 above and beyond the standard FPS is removed from BF3.

If you don't know what is missing, don't bother calling yourself a fan. Expect BF4 to be further CoD'erized.

Maybe it is. This is on Origin, so its on PC. This was not announced or talked about for PS3 or 360 gamers. Thus the beta is on PC cause the game is only on PC.

BF4 could be on a upgraded version of Frostbite 2, based on how well it looks (DICE has said it themselves that its pretty much there Next Gen engine)

Thus, BF4 is next gen and to some extent the PC version of BF3.

Also, it was probably made fast due to it being made on the same engine. I'm really hoping for BF 2143!

I think everyone pretty much has this down. And my thoughts are exactly the same. "Really? That soon?" I expect a pre-order bonus for BF4 to be a beta for the next Medal of Honor too.

Anyhow, I'm not sure how to take this cycle. The positive side is that both the games are different. So it can't exactly get fatigued the same as Call of Duty, since it isn't the same game being released every year. But, I can definitely see the FPS genre as a whole getting fatigued after this whole thing.

Bad Company 2 was/is a masterpiece. Easily the best multiplayer game that I have ever played. Also one of my favorite games in the last two generations.

In my opinion, Bad Company 2 was the worst Battlefield game I've ever played, though still good. I had more fun with Bad Company 1, Battlefield 1943 and of course, Battefield 3.

That said, I would like more destruction physics in the next game, but aside from that, in my opinion, Battlefield 3 beats BC2 in every way (controls, fluidity of gameplay, features, the amount of customization and depth to the weaponry and squad perks, map design, re-playability, and just overall fun factor).

But I do hope the next game changes the feel of the gameplay/controls, because as much as I love BF3, I don't want to get worn out on with rehash after rehash as I have with some other games. I hope it feels completely different and new from all the other Battlefield games, specifically I hope it doesn't feel like BC2.

Yes, Battlefield 3 still has a ton of content, but so does MW3, they are still getting content drops, but it doesn't mean BO2 isn't coming out in November.

Tell me why exactly? I bought Premium and I'll get 4 expansion packs within a year's time for that money. I've spent 600+ hours playing BF3 and it's not even a year old. So I've paid about $120 for over 1000 hours of gameplay I'll put in that game. Then, after I know every bush in every map, they will offer me a new game. I feel very satisfied. I'd like it to be BF:BC3 too but well. I won't complain. I'd like to have some alternative in online teamplay FPS but nobody makes games like DICE.
