Rezzed: Molyneux explains his “Curiosity” Cube Experiment

VG247: During Rezzed, Peter Molyneux announced his first title from 22 Cans, Curiosity, would center around players chipping away at a cube formed by 60 million cubes. How did he come up with this concept? Molyneux explains it to VG247.

$50,000 dollars?!

No secret could be worth that!..could it?

I don't know, all I can think is..."Inside that box...is another box..."

Edit: I must know what lays inside the cube...

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4299d ago (Edited 4299d ago )

The secret is you will get $50,000! Totally worth it!

wUTTer4299d ago

Can't wait to pre-order my DIAMOND CHISEL!! /s

WeskerChildReborned4298d ago

I'm hoping nobody pays him 50k cause nothing in that virtual box would be worth that much idc how curious i would be, the max i would spend on it would probably be a dollar but nothing more.

pandatomsk4299d ago (Edited 4299d ago )

Interesting social experiment, but I think he overestimates people's interest in something like this. Surely there will be those compelled to participate, but spend $50,000 for a virtual diamond pick ax?! yeah right.

I feels like this'll be like the ending of the movie "the box," terribly disappointing. once you see it, you'll be like "really?!"

I'm not at all curious.

Cyrisaurus4299d ago

I bet the person that gets to the center gets ownership of the company or something like that. That's the only thing that would be both "life changing" and worth $50,000

SpecialK4299d ago

Didn't think about it that way

That would be pretty cool. Not sure if that would be it, but its got me thinking along different lines as to what it could be which is pretty cool =)

I wont be getting involved in playing I'm guessing we'll all find out sooner or later anyway. Imagine if its something amazing though.

Maybe we'll all wish we participated to get whatever this secret it =p

ExPresident4299d ago

I'd lmao if it was whatever quote he uses to make himself feel better every day :)

WeskerChildReborned4298d ago

Or it better take me to another dimension cause nothing in the box will be worth 50 grand.

Peter Molyneux's new game is set in Fable's Albion

Project currently codenamed MOAT.

JusttJD0099187d ago

M.O.A.T

Misleader of all time?

jznrpg187d ago (Edited 187d ago )

It’s between him and Phil. I’d vote Phil

Obscure_Observer186d ago

"It’s between him and Phil. I’d vote Phil"

If Phil were the man that made my life miserable, I would vote for him as well.

Regarding the topic, it could be both Peter and Phil working together.

M.O.A.T takes place in Albion, so it´s possible that Pete is working on new partnership with Xbox, which imo, is nothing but great news!

GhostScholar186d ago

What exactly has Phil mislead about? I can’t wait to hear the verbal diarrhea you come with.

Cacabunga186d ago

Still waiting for Milo and Kate.. most lmao game OAT

Becuzisaid187d ago

Wait.

His name is still used as a selling point for new games? Seriously?

jznrpg187d ago

If anyone knows his name you have to be extremely skeptical that what he delivers will be anything like what he says it would be and that’s best case scenario.

RaiderNation187d ago

He's like the "Tom Clancy" of video games.

InUrFoxHole187d ago

Lol what the hell man?!?!?

Number1TailzFan187d ago

I remember Black & White (PC) but other than that I can only think of Fable, B&W was a pretty cool game tho at the time.

sagapo187d ago

Populous was another one designed by Peter, released before B&W, godlike game as well, pretty good too.

Giblet_Head186d ago

I quite liked Magic Carpet growing up.

Obscure_Observer186d ago (Edited 186d ago )

"His name is still used as a selling point for new games? Seriously?"

The guy is a gaming legend for gamers who actually knows and played his games, like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, Black & White and Fable for example.

Becuzisaid186d ago

I'm certain that most who actually know who he is would contest your use of legend. He's the living, human embodiment of false advertising.

Obscure_Observer186d ago

@Becuzisaid

There´s an abyss between false advertisement and bad games.

Most gamers will get excited for games from great gaming creators rather than focus on their exaggerated promises.

Kojima described his Xbox exclusive game as "very unusual like no one has ever experienced before, leveraging the cloud." He said all publishers he presented the project, called him mad and rejected his game but Microsoft, because it´s too crazy.

Is Kojima exaggerating? Obviously. It´s gonna be a bad game? Hardly.

Imagine a game where Peter Molyneux presents an extraordinary set of ideas that players will enjoy for years to come. Now imagine that this particular game will come out because it will never exist.

Profchaos187d ago

Does Milo live under a bridge there

shinoff2183186d ago

Captain overseller is returning. Ain't heard his name in years.

shinoff2183186d ago

Peter was overselling games way way before cdprojectred, and bethesada

Peter Molyneux has high hopes for Playground's Fable

One of the biggest reveals at this year's Xbox Games Showcase was the latest Fable trailer. After a lengthy stint of silence, Playground Games gave us a look at bits of the title, albeit in a trailer that was mostly made up of CGI nonsense headlined by comedian Richard Ayoade, who is playing a rather frustrated giant.

Molyneux asked about what he thought about the Fable reveal.

Damm thats a name I haven't heard from in what seems like since forever.

Nebaku288d ago

And we thank the lord each day.

Michiel1989288d ago

he actually was in the news every now and then with a (couple) scam games he made

Double_O_Revan288d ago

The exact same thought came to mind when I read the headline. It's been so long since we've heard his lies and over ambitions.

A failed hack designer has high hopes for Fable lol incoming flop confirmed!

Godmars290287d ago

Well, he's not associated with it. Giving interviews talking about features never at any point mentioned with devs let alone introduced.

It might have a chance.

Godmars290288d ago

Peter Molyneux: Hideo Kojima minus ability and skill.

Godmars290288d ago

Think you mean ethics.

Also, whose defending Molyneux? Wasn't his last game a literal ripoff with him offering a prize but not giving it?

KwietStorm_BLM288d ago

I wonder if those hopes are higher or lower than Milo?

The 10 Most Expensive Microtransactions And DLC In Games, Ever

From Xfire: "Remember when you'd buy a game and... that was it? You got the full experience by purchasing the full product one time. "

potedude1115d ago

Damn, Train Simulator is costing the big bucks. That game is kinda fun but not if you purchase all the DLC.

Relientk771115d ago

I will never understand why people pay for this crap.

Master of Unlocking1111d ago

"All the DLC - Train Simulator 2020, $10,145"

No wonder we're witnessing an increasing number of ports from PC to consoles, you can't nickel and dime PC owners with all their mods over there, lol

"Legatus Pack - Star Citizen $27,000"

Ouch!

Planet Calypso - Entropia Universe, $6,000,000

WTF...?!
