Never mind the release date , can we just have a proper Vita/3ds versions and not DS ports please.

barb_wire4301d ago

Good luck.. the PSP got DS ports too even though it could do the LEGO games (eg, LEGO Star Wars II, Lego Indy 1 and Batman 1 - everything after that was a POS DS port)

I agree that it's particularly annoying to see the PlayStation Vita handed what many see to be quite a mediocre offering each time. LEGO Batman 2 was much the same, and the Vita has proved with titles like Golden Abyss and Rayman Origins that it can run at least basic versions of fully-fledged PS3/360 games, so why it hasn't yet got a 'full' LEGO game is beyond me. Here's hoping that the LOTR version can at least somewhat buck this trend.

MySwordIsHeavenly4301d ago

I still don't understand why everyone hated LEGO: Harry Potter on Vita. It looks just as good as the PS3/360 version. It may have been a port of the PSP version, but it looks MUCH better than the PSP version. I don't know how, but it does. The same goes for LEGO: Batman 2. It looks really good, yet reviewers trashed the graphics. It definitely looks better than the 3DS version, as well.

I'm still waiting for that Elder Scrolls style LotR RPG...

Xof4300d ago

That could be... really cool, so long as they don't make it into a half-assed "side story" like recent games, or set it in a different era. Well, okay, Silmarillion open-world would be all kinds of aweseome, but...

Imagine.

War of the Ring setting. Open world game. You can make any character you want of any race. You can even be a gollum-like creature or an Uruk-hai or whatever. Two main quests (good/evil). To start the one, you join up with Saruman at Isengard... branches into Surman-wins and Sauron-wins paths. To start the other, Rivendell. The Council of Elrond. You get the ring. Branches so that you either follow Aragorn and destroy the ring through force with a bunch of allies... or you have to sneak in to Mordor and get to Mt Doom without being captured. No allies, big, huge open-world stealth segments...

....

Gah, why'd you have to bring up something that aswesome!

Gambit_the_White4300d ago

You just described the exact game I've been waiting for since the movies came out! Imagine what could have been if the rights hadn't gone to EA of all companies, but Bethesda instead...

However, there is a team of incredibly ambitious modders recreating Middle Earth in its entirety using the Skyrim engine. The size of the map is about 10 times the size of the entire Skyrim map, so it will be mindblowing if they manage to finish it. And it's not just the landmass of Middle Earth that's being created, they are basically creating that very game you just described :)

Check it out! Only downside is, you won't be able to play as a bad guy ;)

Words cannot describe how amazing this game will be.

Vita's Lost Games - A Look at the Digital Future

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "Ever since the advent of full-game downloads on consoles, it seems the market has slowly been shifting towards a digital future where games are delivered through internet connections rather than physical disks. While the convenience this brings is undeniable, and plenty of gamers have embraced having a stuffed memory card in their Vita, there are major pitfalls that are slowly beginning to show, one of which is that games can be delisted without any prior warning, leaving them lost to time unless you bought them before they disappeared."

LEGO Lord of the Rings Delisted, Ghostbusters May Follow

From GameWatcher: "LEGO Lord of the Rings delisted from Steam, along with LEGO The Hobbit? That what it certainly looks like, as both of TT Games' Middle-Earth LEGO titles have been pulled with no explanation - and fans are wondering if Activision's Ghostbusters game will be gone next.

It's certainly not the only recent Steam casualty of licenses changing hands, but the weird thing about these is - the Middle-Earth license, like TT Games, is still owned by Warner Bros. So why have these games been delisted?"

The middle earth license may be part of WB, but what about the Lego license? There is also the factor of if Lego and WB can be used together and licensed for Video games in this way. Since other Lord of the Ring games aren't being delisted, I think this might have more to do with the Lego license, or the Lego/Lord of the Rings dual license. Or it was always just a short term agreement to use all the licenses together.

So on and so forth. Licensing can be tricky. Ghostbusters is a solely owned IP, so one's first inclination shouldn't be if another WB owned franchise is due for the axe.

I got both of these for free recently from Humble Bundle. I wonder if that was a way of saying "goodbye" or something.

SegaGamer1933d ago

Now we know why they were offered for free twice. I originally thought it was Humble Bundle giving everyone an early Christmas present.

Can you still download them from your library?

traumadisaster1933d ago

I've a few games that lost their store page but can still be downloaded, so it probably will work the same.

MasterChief36241933d ago

Historically I've only ever heard of 2 games that were delisted and couldn't be redownloaded. PT on the PS4, and some multiplayer-only game on Steam. I'm sure there are plenty of cases, but the 99.99999% case is that if you bought it, you will be able to download and play it for the foreseeable future, Wii Shop Channel closing down notwithstanding.

Elwenil1933d ago

I am downloading The Hobbit on Steam right now. Seems to be working normally. I figured I better try it to be sure, lol.

Another digital game (in this case maybe three) bites the dust forever. Congrats if you have a physical disc or want to get it used somewhere, because you still can!
